Lovely short break

House matches the description. We had a lovely short break. We managed without a car and hired extra bikes instead. Town and the nearest supermarket are both a 20 min walk so we cycled most of the time. The buses seemed reliable but not very frequent so check the current timetable. La Rochelle is fab and we’d definitely like to come back.

Wonderful home from home

Great location, very comfortable, nice private garden. Easy access to town, c.lose enough to walk, also bus within 100m. Plenty of space, a good family house. We would love to stay here again. Christine and Philip are very helpful and welcoming

Comfortable and enjoyable stay

A lovely house and garden in a quiet suburb. There is everything you could need in the kitchen and the garden. All the rooms are comfortable and spacious. There is a bus stop at end of street, 50 metres away with frequent buses into town. Also taxi ride is only 10€. There is even a little bakery van that stops in the street at 10am, selling bread, croissants and cakes. The owners were very kind and hospitable, taking us to the supermarket on arrival and driving us to the airport on departure. We particularly enjoyed our little welcome pack with wine and home made jam. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely house, great area, nice people

This is a lovely house to spend a week in. I visited with my 2 year old child, my wife and my parents and it is big enough that you don't all get under each others feet. Large living room with dining table, big bedrooms and a very secluded garden at the back. In summer the solid floors and shutters do an excellent job of keeping the heat out; it's very nice coming back to a cool house. The shower is good and the beds are comfortable. It is in a quiet residental area, no noisy neighbours. The back garden dining area is in the shade in the late afternoon, a good place to eat or you can sit in the sun if you prefer. La Rochelle is a great place to visit. Beautiful architecture, interesting museums, stunning port and beaches and superb seafood. Get the weekly bus ticket (12.5 Euro) and you don't even need a car - the airport is about 15 mins by bus (route 1) from the town centre (Place de Verdun) and you can get a bus from there to the end of the road which takes about 10 mins (route 7, Saint Saens stop). Christine and Philippe are a very friendly and welcoming couple and we'd like to visit again in the future.
