About the property

Luxury house in Courtyard developement.

The accommodation comprises of an entrance vestibule leading through to the utility/laundry room with storage for golf clubs and other equipment. This leads into the main hallway where information leaflets are displayed and a telephone is situated. Off the hallway,there are three well appointed twin bedded rooms, one with an en-suite shower room and the other two bedrooms sharing a shower room. There is an attractive mural of Scotland's most famous poet Robert Burns painted onto the wall half way up the stairs leading to the upstairs lounge/dining room, kitchen and en-suite bedroom. For the convenience of the guests there is a security camera/door entry system with visual screen and telephone.


Lounge / Dining Room

Superb lounge with panoramic views of the Old Course and patio doors to the viewing veranda. This room has very comfortable seating arrangements, a reproduction oak centre table, television and video. The spacious dining area off the lounge has two windows to the north overlooking the Old Course. The dining table, ten chairs, dresser and serving table are made from reproduction oak and are complemented with crystal chandeliers in both areas of the room. Ideal for eating in if guests wish to relax in the comfortable surroundings. The room is accessed from the top landing and has a connecting door through to the kitchen.


Fully fitted modern antique pine kitchen with fridge, electric hob, extractor, double oven, dishwasher and microwave oven. Doulton crockery for 12 place settings and crystal glasses.

Utility Room - With washing machine and freezer.

Storage Room

Large cupboard for storing golf clubs, outdoors shoes, etc.

Swilken View has 4 twin bedded rooms, all individually styled but all sharing the highest quality standards. The highest quality pure cotton bed linen and luxurious towels are provided for the comfort of our guests. There is ample storage space throughout all of the bedrooms for your clothing and accessories.


Master Bedroom (En-suite)

The Master Bedroom enjoys spectacular views over St Andrews Old Course. It has a beautiful en-suite shower room. This twin bedded room consists of a double wardrobe, bedside cabinets, dressing table, chairs, and occasional tables with ornate lamps.

About Mr J Russell Taylor

I currently live in Perthshire and have done all my life. I farm in partnership with my wife Nancy. The farm is an arable farm and we also have a pedigree herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle of which I was past President of the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society for the UK from February 2013 to February 2014. I have also been Director of the Royal Highland Show.

St Andrews is a place that has always appealed to me and this property was bought originally by my father and will hopefully be keep in my family as opportunities to purchase such a property in such a prime location are very rare indeed.

What makes this house unique

This property was bought because of its unique situation,there are only a few other properties in St Andrews with such a spectacular view. It is a spacious house and easily accommodates 8 people, with plenty of space for storing golf clubs


It is within easy walking distance of St Andrews town centre, with its many excellent restaurants, theatre, cinema, golf courses, walks on the spectacular West Sands beach. It is a very relaxing and tranquil situation.

Swilken View is fabulous

The view of the 1st, 17th and 18th holes (and of course Swiken Bridge) are fabulous. We sat in the den area with our coffee in the morning watching the golfers heading out before we headed out to the links and we sat there in the evening with our adult beverages of choice watching them finish up. The apartment is lovely and very comfortable. Mr. Taylor, the owner, is very accommodating. And, of course, having a dedicated parking spot in St. Andrews is an added plus. And, you are within walking distance of all the St. Andrews bars, restaurants and stores. It was such a great experience, this was our second stay at Swilken View.

Spectacular location overlooking the Old Course

We had a wonderful week at Swilken View! While we were only two, there's easy room for 8 people in the condo. There are four bedrooms, each with two twin beds, and three bathrooms. Two of the bathrooms have very nice showers, while the third is a shower/tub combo. Three of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, and one is on the upper (main) floor with the kitchen, dining room and lounge.

The kitchen has everything you need for cooking (we only cooked breakfast), and there's a large dining table. There's also a washer and dryer, which we took advantage of.

And then, there's the view. From the big windows in the lounge, you look out over arguably the most famous golf course in the world, with views of the 17th (the Road Hole), the 18th with the famous bridge, as well as the first hole and second tee. You can see across the golf course out to the North Sea. When we weren't on the course, we were watching others play, and pose for pictures on the Swilken Bridge.

The location is easy walking distance to prime locations like Dunvegan's and the Old Course Hotel and Jigger Inn. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Market Street and the main shopping and dining areas.

There's room for one car to be parked off the street, although be prepared for some tight turn-around space.

The owners were great to work with, and if we ever have the chance to go back to St Andrews, we will stay at Swilken View.

Best spot in St Andrews

Stunning property in a supurb location. Recent renovations have given this place a great modern but homely feel. I’ve been travelling to St Andrews for 10 years and this is quite literally in the perfect spot. 8 people showering after a day on the golf course and plenty of hot water, full sky package on the brand new TVs, and watching the sunset from the living room balcony, just tops off a gorgeous day in St Andrews. I’d highly recommend Swilken View to anyone looking for accommodation in the region, it’s simply faultless.

Incredible location and view of the Old Course.

Amazing Golf Experience

We enjoyed staying at Swilken View, the the view was just that. From our living room we had a great view of the 18th hole on the Old Course including the famous Swilken Bridge. The house had four proper bedrooms, bathrooms, a great kitchen, dining area, and living area. Five Stars all the way!
