Set in the heart of the largest linked ski area in Europe, Fleurs des Montagnes is a detached chalet and therefore unlike an apartment you won't be disturbed by people above, below or either side of you. It is situated at the front of the sought after Les Coprins chalets and enjoys uninterrupted breathtaking views often used for postcards of the village. We are only 100m from a chairlift taking you to 650km of marked runs, or you can catch the free 'navette' which stops near the bottom of the drive to the other lifts, which are only minutes away. The nearest lift will also take you into some wonderful mountain walking paths, if skiing is not for you. Chatel has an enviable snow record due to its northern slopes and a heavy investment in snow cannon, and even in the poor 2016/2017 season, visitors reportedly only lost 5 days due to poor weather.

Guests can order ski passes and ski hire in advance and both can be waiting for you on your arrival, together with a welcome pack of coffee, tea or glass of red wine

This beautiful chalet is built on 3 floors including a large lounge/dining area with an extensive south facing terrace and separate designer kitchen, all with uninterrupted wonderful views.

We have 4 bedrooms, sleeping 8 people in permanent beds, plus room for a baby in a cot. There are 2 x double bedrooms (one with a large double bed and one with a standard), one twin room and one with adult sized bunk beds. Bedrooms are located on the ground and 2nd floors with bath/shower rooms and toilets on each. Rates include local tourist tax, electricity, linen, logs and cleaning.

There is a well equipped kitchen with oven, microwave and dishwasher, dining and lounge seating and a very efficient drying/boot room.

Switzerland is minutes away by car, or ski using the chair lift 100m from chalet, which will also take you into the linked area. Navette bus takes you to other lifts every 20 minutes from 8.15am to late evening. 40 runs immediately surrounding Chatel- 5 black, 17 reds, 12 blues 6 greens and 27 snow cannons. Garage and further car parking space available.

Summer details: Being south facing the chalet receives above average sunshine. There are a vast selection of summer activities including 200 km of marked footpaths and cycle trails in Portes du Soleil, swimming pools, horse riding, angling, tennis and a year round toboggan run- all available in Chatel. Lake Geneva will all its water sports activities is just a 40 min drive and there are plenty of river sports such as white water rafting, kayaking, canyoning etc. 20 mins away in the Abondance valley.

Why Lynne Goulding chose Châtel

We bought the chalet as we wanted somewhere we could have holidays with our children when they would normally not want to holiday with their parents; skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer was a perfect solution (and it worked!). We chose Chatel as it is still a working mountain village and not solely focused on winter sports. The local farmers still make wonderful cheese and other produce which mean the sounds of cowbells in the summer!

What makes this chalet unique

The chalet is light and airy, with amazing elevated views around the valley and being south facing, lots of sunshine! Both bathrooms have been replaced recently using quality fittings (Hansgrohe). A welcome pack is provided for week long renters so you can enjoy a bottle of red wine, coffee, tea or hot chocolate before you head to the supermarket!

I just had to write immediately to tell you what a wonderful holiday we had in your delightful chalet. it really is just perfect, and for us all the accommodation was the 'icing on the cake' of what was a fantastic experience.


We had amazing amounts of sunshine and snow. The chalet was excellent.

Wonderful self-catered chalet with great views!

Such a fabulous self-catered chalet. We went with another couple in January and had a truly wonderful holiday, to a great deal due to the chalet as the snow and weather partially let us down!

We usually try to go for ski-in-ski-out and were initially a bit worried about distance from pistes, but to be honest, almost nowhere in Chatel has direct access as the best skiing is at the end of the valley away from the main village, which was incredibly easily served by a very regular free shuttle that goes from almost outside the chalet. We had a car anyway and parking was not an issue on the days we decided to drive to the pistes. We were rather surprised by how easy logistics were to be honest! We enjoyed the short 15 min stroll down the road into town for dinner one night.

Owner and agent both very responsive, and it felt rather luxurious compared to most self-catered places we have stayed - high quality matching linen, beds made up, lovely welcome pack, and we loved that the kitchen comes stocked with all the basics for cooking like olive oil, salt, stock cubes, herbs etc.

The chalet in general did a great job of balancing neutral and stylish, good quality decor with rustic authenticity - we ski multiple times every year, have done for many years, and find many chalets are either too modern and cold-feeling, or too cluttered, especially in France. Especially given the very reasonable price, the absolutely stunning views (we wrapped up for beers on the balcony most evenings), very comfortable beds and wonderful log fire really made our trip one of our best yet. Will definitely return next season!

Lovely Chalet in Châtel

My second stay at this lovely chalet. There are wonderful views over the valleys. At night I could see the lights in the sky - piste bashers!

The accommodation was fine and the facilities ample. The good thing about the Chelet's position up in petitchapel is that you are away from the bulk of tourists yet close enough to enjoy the village. Looking forward to next year.

Have rented in Chatel over 15 years - this is the first time we have been disappointed

We love Chatel and have rented chalets here for over 15 years. We have loved every holiday and every chalet. Until now.......

From the time of arrival there were a number of points:

1. Because things are stored in the garage you cannot get an estate car in the garage - we had two cars and only space for one

2. None of the beds were made up

3. The duvet in the main double appears to have mouse/rat damage to one corner (photo available)

4. Not even milk left so you could have a cup of tea on arrival - all other chalets have left some form of arrival pack

5. The agent was supposed to come and check that everything was ok. They did not come and made no attempt to contact us

6. Instruction booklet states that you have to do the final clean. We have always left rental properties clean and tidy but have never been expected to do the deep clean requried before next party moves in. This is required apparently as cleaners are 'expensive' on change over days. Yes, that is what we are paying for.

And finally.... So on our final evening having completed cleaning the toilets, hoovering and mopping the floors, we went to bed early as we had an early start. However no sooner than we had retired than the door bell went at 10.30pm. It was a couple who were friends of the owners and wanted to know what we were doing in their car space and indeed their chalet. We explained that we were renting. They wouldn't take no for an answer and implied we had made some mistake as the owners had said they could come out on Friday. This went on for some time until they reluctantly left asking us when we would be gone the following day and implying it was our fault that after a long journey they had nowhere to stay.

We had taken friends with us on this holiday who had not been to Chatel before and although (as usual) the skiing was great the experience at the chalet was an embarassment to us.

The chalet itself is good and the views lovely. However if it is going to be rented out at this level then the level of service needs to be improved. I am giving 2 stars for the actual chalet but the other 3 are lost due to the above

Owner's Response: I am so sorry you had such a negative experience and whilst reasons don't make it better there are some extenuating circumstances here - most of which are extraordinary. Firstly the garage contains bathroom fittings as the local plumber engaged to replace one of the bathrooms died unexpectedly just days before he was due to do the work and it became impossible to find an alternative at short notice, or to find storage. Secondly, my husband was whisked into hospital where he remained for over 3 weeks in late February with me daily commuting over an hour each way and I took my eye off the ball which included telling our friends (who were due to arrive Saturday) that they couldn't arrive Friday. This is entirely my fault as we were due to arrive on Saturday ourselves. However, there are some issues here that most definitely should not have occurred and I will be taking them up with our local agent. All beds are always made up, a welcome pack should have been put out and the agent should have called on you to check everything was ok. Cleaning is also always included and this was clearly stated on the website as are the local agents contact details in case everything is not as it should be. The agent does try to visit every renter but sometimes guests are not always in, even if he returns more than once. Clearly we need to ensure guests know he has called and to leave contact details for them to call him, particularly when something goes wrong as it clearly had with your stay. We have been renting our chalet for nearly 20 years and we receive very positive reviews. I never want anyone to be disappointed and as a result pay considerable sums to ensure the guest experience is a positive one , but can only address issues when I am made aware of them. I am therefore grateful you have done so in order that I can put them right and would like to assure you this is not how it usually works! Please contact me directly via email so I can offer redress.

Nice little chalet - good views from balcony

Visited as part of a group and the chalet met our needs well. Very well kept with everything you could need for a ski holiday. Beautiful views from the balcony and the log fire was very inviting after a hard day on the slopes. They also supplied plenty of board games/DVDs for entertainment when we just wanted to curl up and relax by the fire in the evening.

The chalet is a good 15 minute walk from town but we found there were frequent buses to the centre and the rest of the resort (they start well before the first lifts open and only stop running late into the evening depending on how late your apres ski runs).

The two bathrooms came in useful for taking turns with hot baths etc after skiing - the shower downstairs is amazing!

Owners were easily contactable for any queries.

Séjour agréable au ski à CHATEL en famille JLH

Notre séjour au chalet lors des vacances de février fut très agréable malgré un temps peu clément. Bien situé à proximité d'un télésiège ,

bénéficiant d'une superbe vue sur la station et les sommets environnants.Conforme à ce que nous attendions , le chalet est très confortable

et bien entretenu .Le séjour est spacieux (nous étions 8 personnes) ,les chambres propres et confortables , les sanitaires impeccables .

Nous avons apprécié la cheminée avec du bois à disposition . Lynne Goulding ,la propriétaire, a fait preuve d'une grande disponibilité et d'une

amabilité constante lors de nos échanges de couriels .

Je recommande cette location et peut être y reviendrons nous un jour .

Set in the heart of the Portes du Soleil and minutes from the village centre, Les Fleurs des Montagnes is a detached chalet enjoying stunning mountain views from its' terraces and is perfectly located for both winter and summer holidays. The Portes du Soleil comprises 650 km of linked ski runs, which cross the border into Switzerland, yet is only a 40 minute drive from Evian on the banks of Lake Geneva, with its casino, beaches and spa.

Other Activities: Sailing, water skiing & diving available on Lake Geneva plus golf at Evian - 40 mins by car

Ski: The chalet is situated a short walk from the nearest lift with the free bus stopping near the bottom of the drive to take you to others. Beginners and experienced skiers/boarders are well catered for with great skiing available for everyone until late April/early May.
