About the property

4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, sleeps 8/9 inc child8 adults & baby in cot

Set in the heart of the largest linked ski area in Europe, Fleurs des Montagnes is a detached chalet and therefore unlike an apartment you won't be disturbed by people above, below or either side of you. It is situated at the front of the sought after Les Coprins chalets and enjoys uninterrupted breathtaking views often used for postcards of the village. We are only 100m from a chairlift taking you to 650km of marked runs, or you can catch the free 'navette' which stops near the bottom of the drive to the other lifts, which are only minutes away. The nearest lift will also take you into some wonderful mountain walking paths, if skiing is not for you. Chatel has an enviable snow record and even in the poor 2006/2007 season, visitors reportedly only lost 5 days due to poor weather.

Guests can benefit from a 10% discount on ski/boot hire (We also give advice on the better restaurants!) Waiting for you will also be a welcome pack, so coffee, tea or glass of red wine will be available for you after your journey

This beautiful chalet is built on 3 floors including a large lounge/dining area with an extensive south facing terrace and separate designer kitchen, all with uninterrupted wonderful views.

We have 4 bedrooms, sleeping 8 people in permanent beds, plus room for a baby in a cot. There are 2 x double bedrooms (one with a large double bed and one with a standard), one twin room and one with adult sized bunk beds. Bedrooms are located on the ground and 2nd floors with bath/shower rooms and toilets on each. Rates include local tourist tax, electricity, linen, logs and cleaning.

There is a well equipped kitchen with oven, microwave and dishwasher, dining and lounge seating for up to 10, and a very efficient drying/boot room.

Switzerland is minutes away by car, or ski using the chair lift 100m from chalet, which will also take you into the linked area. Navette bus takes you to other lifts every 20 minutes from 8.15am to late evening. 40 runs immediately surrounding Chatel- 5 black, 17 reds, 12 blues 6 greens and 27 snow cannons. Garage and further car parking space available.

Summer details: Being south facing the chalet receives above average sunshine. There are a vast selection of summer activities including 200 km of marked footpaths and cycle trails in Portes du Soleil, swimming pools, horse riding, angling, tennis and a year round toboggan run- all available in Chatel. Lake Geneva will all its water sports activities is just a 40 min drive and there are plenty of river sports such as white water rafting, kayaking, canyoning etc. 20 mins away in the Abondance valley.

Why Lynne Goulding chose Portes du Soleil area

We bought the chalet as we wanted somewhere we could have holidays with our children when they would normally not want to holiday with their parents; skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer was a perfect solution (and it worked!). We chose Chatel as it is still a working mountain village and not solely focused on winter sports. The local farmers still make wonderful cheese and other produce which mean the sounds of cowbells in the summer!

What makes this chalet unique

The chalet is light and airy, with amazing elevated views around the valley and being south facing, lots of sunshine!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Mrs. E

I just had to write immediately to tell you what a wonderful holiday we had in your delightful chalet. it really is just perfect, and for us all the accommodation was the 'icing on the cake' of what was a fantastic experience.

We had amazing amounts of sunshine and snow. The chalet was excellent.

We would like to compliment you on your delightful chalet. It was both well equipped and very comfortable, a superb week was had by all..... we would be happy to act as a reference should the need arise.

Nice little chalet - good views from balcony

  • 5 of 5

Visited as part of a group and the chalet met our needs well. Very well kept with everything you could need for a ski holiday. Beautiful views from the balcony and the log fire was very inviting after a hard day on the slopes. They also supplied plenty of board games/DVDs for entertainment when we just wanted to curl up and relax by the fire in the evening.

The chalet is a good 15 minute walk from town but we found there were frequent buses to the centre and the rest of the resort (they start well before the first lifts open and only stop running late into the evening depending on how late your apres ski runs).

The two bathrooms came in useful for taking turns with hot baths etc after skiing - the shower downstairs is amazing!

Owners were easily contactable for any queries.

Séjour agréable au ski à CHATEL en famille JLH

  • 5 of 5

Fab Chalet, fab Skiing!

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 7 friends, and have ski'd all over Europe for the last 30 years, and we decided to re visit Chatel after a 15 year gap.

Wow, what a difference. Lively but not exclusively ski orientated, the resort has something for everyone. Les Fleurs des Montagnes Chalet is a great place to relax after a hard days skiing. The chair lift which is just a few metres away, will take you straight onto some glorious pistes, from which you can access the whole of the Portes du Soleil area.

The Chalet is well equipped, warm and inviting, with truly superb views over the surrounding alps, and we loved it! A log fire and comfortable lounge if it's cold, or large balcony area to sit and talk to friends if it's warm enough, who could want more?

It's a 10 minute walk downhill to the centre of Chatel, which has a variety of shops, great restaurants and bars, and a lovely Boulangerie full of tempting bread, cakes and patisserie. There is a ski hire shop just 200m from the Chalet for those without gear, and a hotel with a decent restaurant even closer. The only slight negative was trying to find a table for 7 in town, on a couple of evenings, without pre -booking, certainly not a huge problem.

I can only say, we would book again without hesitation!

Feels like a home

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay with the whole of the middle floor dedicated to living area and, with a wonderful log fire, it is so right for a holiday. The bedrooms and bathrooms are in great order and very comfortable. And the beds are comfortable which is a must after a hard day's skiing. Yes it is a few steps up to get to the chalet but the views from the balcony day and night are exceptional and make it worth it. The chalet is well placed for the bus routes running around Chatel if you go there without a car as I did. I also walked to the chalet from the village which is a good 15 minutes but quite a comfortable walk. One ski lift operates from the road below the chalet and get you skiing quickly. The extensive ski area gives such a great divergence of slopes and kept me and my friends busy for a whole week without difficulty.

I am sure to go again.

Great Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Our first stay in Chatel. The chalet was easy to find, with parking right outside. What wonderful views across the valley and the ski-slopes from the chalet. The bedrooms were very comfortable, plus plenty of room for ski equipment. The lounge has great sofas to sink into and relax after a hard day's skiing. We used the balcony to relax with a beer whilst enjoying the views. And then we were just down the road from the centre of Chatel with lots of good drinking and eating places. You can walk down to the local shop for fresh baguettes at 7am - scrumptious. An excellent place to stay for skiing. Highly recommended.

A well maintained chalet with everything yu could possibly need. The owner Lynne was excellent with her advise and knowledge of Chatel and the surroundng area.

Alhough it was made perfectly clear we still believe that paying extra for linen is unacceptable.
