Overview

About the property

Unique circular grass roofed house buried into the riverbank with private hot tu

Otter's Holt is a gorgeous and luxurious circular cottage for four people with sensational views overlooking the River Lochay in Highland Scotland. The cottage is nestled into the banks above the river with a private hot tub in the decking overhanging the river for guests to enjoy - watch out for the otters playing in the river! Perfect for romantic breaks and for small groups of guests to enjoy, this property provides all the mod cons for the perfect break.

The timber clad property is characterised by its circular shape, as well as it's flat exterior grass roof and floor to ceiling glass windows from where guests can enjoy the wonderful views over the river flowing by.

The property is located within a few seconds of the Bridge of Lochay hotel and restaurant and the local golf course.

The property has two luxuriously appointed bedrooms (one king and one twin), each with their own ensuite bathroom. The spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area offers all the modern conveniences, and guests can relax here into the comfortable sofas to enjoy the views at the end of the day in the mountains.

Outside, guests can BBQ on the decking area, some of which overhangs the river itself for a real sense of nature!

About Nina Deakin

We live in Scotland with our two young children and operate a holiday cottage business on the shores of Loch Tay in the Scottish Highlands and a ski chalet business in the heart of the Swiss Alps.

Our properties range in style, age and size - they range from renovated farm steadings to alpine chalets, but all have a great sense of homeliness, and beautiful views, as well as lots of little luxuries to help everyone unwind and enjoy their holidays, no matter how old or young they may be!

Why Nina Deakin chose Scotland

Loch Tay is a fantastic location for holidays and there is so much to do in the area, no matter what time of the year. Otter's Holt can be reached in under 2 hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh and enjoys a perfect position on the River Lochay on the outskirts of Killin. This property is truly unique! Buried into the hill behind it with a grass roof, the circular, wooden clad property has floor to ceiling glass windows for a wonderful view over the river towards the golf course. With spacious decking overhanging the river and a bubbling outside hot tub operational all year round, this house offers all the modern conveniences and little luxuries for our guests! In addition, the property benefits from the local amenities of Killin, including some lovely local shops, bars and restaurants as well as a nine hole golf course, which are all within walking distance of the property.

What makes this cottage unique

Loch Tay offers guests numerous opportunities for salmon fishing (from the river shore), climbing (we are located close to a number of Munro mountains including mighty Ben Lawers), boating on the loch, visiting castles, distilleries, golf, and all just on our doorstep! The house itself offers a spacious, homely and peaceful retreat after all of these activities, to relax at the end of the day with a well deserved glass of wine in the garden or the bubbling hot tub.
