Sleeps 8 - 4 Bed, 4 Bath - Spacious Accommodation for Families & Groups, Wifi

A charming cottage nestled in rolling farmland close to the Northumberland National Park offering spacious accommodation for up to eight guests. Inside the comfortable accommodation includes a convivial open plan living area with log burning stove, a utility room, boot room and four en suite bedrooms; two doubles and two twins. Outside a terrace garden offers superb views over the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park.

Superb walks nearby range from leisurely rambles along the Bowmont Water and surrounding farmland to more challenging hill and moorland treks in the Cheviot Hills. With more than 600 miles of footpaths and bridleways to choose from in the National Park alone, walkers are spoilt for choice. Cyclists are equally well provided for with miles of marked routes and quiet country lanes to explore offering everything from meandering river valley saunters to wild open moorland blasts. Popular routes include the Pennine Cycleway and the Reivers Cycle Route, both of which run through the National Park.

The stables at Kimmerston just down the road offer riding in the Cheviot Hills as well as rides on the spectacular sandy beaches on nearby Holy Island.

There is fishing by arrangement for grayling, sea trout and brown trout on the pretty Bowmont Water which runs through the estate. The cottage is only a ten minute drive from the River Till one of the area's best kept secrets with an impressive sea trout run each spring. The lower and bottom beats of the legendary River Tweed are also within easy driving distance. Other field sporting opportunities are available at Mindrum or in the immediate area subject to availability and at additional charge. Please contact us for further details.

The cottage is 5 miles from Cornhill on Tweed which offers an excellent village shop selling pies and delicious local goodies and the Collingwood Arms which has a lively bar and restaurant specialising in dishes prepared using the wealth of local produce on offer. More extensive shopping including a good range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants are available at Kelso and Wooler which are 10 and 12 miles respectively.

Some of the cleanest and emptiest beaches in England can be found on Northumberland's spectacular Heritage Coastline, half an hour’s drive from the cottage. One of our favourite spots is Bamburgh Beach, with miles of pristine sand nestled behind huge sand dunes. At low tide take a trip across the causeway to the mystical Holy Island of Lindisfarne or take a boat to the Farne Islands to see the resident colonies of Grey Seals and an impressive array of birdlife including Puffins.

The stunning coastline provides the perfect opportunity to try your hand at kite surfing, sailing or coasteering. For something a little different, gliding is available at nearby Millfield. Clay pigeon shooting and archery are also available locally and beginners are very welcome.

The region’s rich and often bloody history is reflected in the magnificent chain of castles that punctuate the landscape. Those nearby the cottage include dramatic Bamburgh, perched high on its rocky outcrop, the vast, romantic ruins of Dunstanburgh, the palatial splendour of Floors, Chillingham, reputedly one of the most haunted buildings in England and home to the world’s only herd of wild cattle and foreboding Alnwick, made famous as the location for Hogwart’s School in the Harry Potter films.

Mindrum is also close to Flodden Field, site of the infamous battle of 1513 between the Scots and the English the 500th Anniversary of which is commemorated this year with Britain’s first cross-border ecomuseum. Another favourite local attraction, popular with old and young alike, is the delightful miniature steam railway which runs from Heatherslaw to Etal.

Further afield, the magnificent city of Edinburgh is only about an hour by car or 45 minutes on the train from nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed. The stunning city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne is just over an hour by car, or 40 minutes by train from Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The accommodation is all on one floor and suitable for elderly or mobility impaired guests.

Catering and housekeeping

Teddy’s Cottage can be let on a purely self-catering basis or treat yourself to a proper rest and book a cook (either full time or for the occasional, special meal) or homemade meals delivered to the house. Two dogs are welcome at Teddy’s Cottage. Dogs must be kept to the uncarpeted areas of the house and must be kept on leads when walking around the farm.

Guests’ privacy

Teddy’s Cottage is part of a hamlet of farm cottages but the accommodation is laid out to maximise privacy with the main accommodation facing away from the other cottages and offering uninterrupted views over farmland to the hills.

4 bedroom- 4 bathroom with stunning views!

Wasn't sure what to expect when booking Teddy's cottage as I couldn't see any reviews but it was wonderful! 4 bedroom with 4 bathrooms is unusual to come across and at such great value. Everything was very clean, the cottage is huge and the photos on here do not do it justice at all- beautiful. The views were also excellent and I would definitely recommend! Arrived to some lovely fresh daffodils, a bottle of wine and some fresh eggs!

Prachtige cottage met toilet en douche bij elke slaapkamer. Vaatwasmachine en wasmachine ook aanwezig wat erg prettig is. De ontvangst was allerhartelijkst met wijn en verse eitjes! We kregen zelfs honing vers van de raat. De woning was schoon, netjes onderhouden. Geweldige omgeving, zeker voor rustzoekers. Minder geschikt voor kleine kinderen. 15 minuten rijden voor uitgebreid boodschappen doen. Aanrader: the red lion restaurant.

Enige minpunten: de matrassen waren véél te zacht en doorgezakt en niet echt goede pannen voor 8 personen. Niet altijd overal voldoende heet water voor het douchen.
