About the property

3 double bedrooms, 1 single, 3 bathrooms; sleeps 7/8

Lying in the beautiful countryside between Cortona and the Umbrian border, this self-catering property is a traditional Tuscan stone farmhouse which has been restored to the highest standards. It is set in a secluded south-west-facing position on a hillside with stunning views over a valley. A large terrace, with two pergolas and teak garden furniture, provides ample room for outdoor eating. Steps on the terrace lead up to a loggia, the perfect place from which to watch the setting sun. Below the terrace, there is a 10 x 5 metre swimming-pool which also enjoys the stunning view. To one side of the house there is a small gorge with stream; on others, there are fields with olive trees and wild flowers. The whole house is very well furnished and equipped. All its bedrooms and the first-floor sitting-room have views over the valley to the hills beyond. The sitting-room also has French windows which open on to the loggia.

In the other direction, the road follows the valley into Umbria and to the small town of Trestina where there are supermarkets and several other shops, as well as restaurants. There is also a supermarket in Morra, a few minutes away. This house is an excellent base from which to explore both Tuscany and Umbria with many interesting towns, such as Montepulciano, Siena, Perugia, Citta di Castello, Sansepolcro, Gubbio, Arezzo, Castiglion Fiorentino within easy reach. A wonderful peaceful Tuscan hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more! Wonderful pool and glorious views of Tuscan sunsets. The house is spaceous, set in hills of Tuscan far away from the hassles of life. Glorious walks and a few runs in the hills (not for the faint hearted). All in all a great place to unwind which even our teenage kids thought was perfect!

Delightful farmhouse in secluded setting

  • 5 of 5

Having spent the first week of our holiday busy sightseeing in Florence, Casa Corgnoleta offered our family of four the perfect antidote with its tranquil surroundings and amazing panoramic views. The property itself has been tastefully refurbished and is comfortable and well kitted out, although

you may wish to bring your own books, CD's or DVD's to offer entertainment. Internet is available, although we found the wifi reception to be patchy during our stay which was more of an issue for our teenagers than us.

The swimming pool is large and excellently maintained, as is the whole property and its grounds.

The owner wisely advised us to stock up with provisions en route to the property, as the nearest shops are some distance away along twisting mountain roads.

We loved Cortona and Lake Trasimeno and even fitted in a day trip to Siena, so although the property is situated in the "wilder" end of Tuscany, it is not impossible to get to key places if you don't mind doing the driving.

We found the owner to be most helpful at all stages of the booking process and returned our breakages deposit promptly after our return home.

Would we stay there again ? Absolutely yes, although we would probably go either sooner or later in the year as we found it to be hot, hot, HOT during our stay in August 2015.

Amazing house and views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 (including my 80 year old mother-in-law and 2 year old niece) had a wonderful stay at the Abbott's home. The house was beautiful, clean and well-kept. The lawns and views are as breathtaking in person as they are in the pictures. We loved every minute we were there and look forward to returning one day. The owner was extremely easy to work with and very helpful (supplying a baby crib, high chair and children's dishes). I will note, though, that with the stone floors and steps, it was a bit difficult with the 2 year old. I'd say it would be best for children ages 4 and up.

Tuscan tranquility at its best

  • 5 of 5

My family of four spent a wonderful week here with friends who also have two small children. The house is located high in the Tuscan hills with stunning views from every vantage point. Its impeccably restored, with all the modern conveniences, and is well-designed to suit two separate families, affording privacy when needed and common living/dining areas. The covered terrace was where we spent most of our time---perfect for enjoying long lunches and late dinners overlooking the hills. The house is quite remote---so while we found a market and a couple of family friendly restaurants within a 10-15 minute driving distance--it's not possible to walk to a village or market and visitors might want to be prepared with some staples upon arriving. Overall this was a fantastic holiday---we were captivated by the house and the region instantly. A holiday we won't forget!

Fantastic Villa and location.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this property in August 2011 with my wife and two children of 5 and 6, and it was faultless. The remoteness of the villa surrounded by ancient forests simply adds to the charm for people who want to leave the rat race behind. The property was spotlessly clean & the kitchen well appointed whilst the bathrooms were plentiful and immaculate. The views sitting on the upper terrace in the evening watching the sun go down were fantastic, everything you would wish from Tuscany. Locally there is so much to see, and in particular we fell in love with Cortona.

In addition, the owner is really helpful and friendly.

We hope to return one day.
