Beautiful cottage in an ideal location. Loved the private courtyard garden and conservatory.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage garden was lovely and the house was spotlessly clean.

We had a really relaxed stay. Visited the George Washington pub and had a brilliant home made steak pie....Didn't get to meet Anne but hopefully will see her on our next visit.

The Sables was everything we hoped for!

  • 5 of 5

The Sables was everything we hoped for! Anne was very friendly and helpful. The house was extremely well equipped and clean. We couldn't have asked for more and would absolutely recommend The Stables to anyone visiting The Lakes District.

Amazing weekend away with the girls

  • 5 of 5

The Stables is a beautiful place to stay. It is very spacious, cosy and warm! There is a large kitchen with everything provided to make meals. The three bedrooms are very spacious and really clean. The three bathrooms were also great considering there was 6 of us :) the living room was very comfortable and there is even a little garden to have a few drinks in the evening!

There are two pubs about a 3 minute walk away. The Malt Shovel Inn was very friendly and accommodating to us. The food was delicious but I recommend getting there earlier. We ordered food at around 5pm and the kitchen was already backed up by 6ish so it is very popular - last orders for food is 7.15pm!

There are loads of lovely walks that start in Carnforth - about a 30 minute walk away. Carnforth is full of shops and cafes to get everything you need for a picnic!

The road coming up to the Stables is very very narrow and the driveway to the house is on the right just before the front door. We just missed it (as we drove down in the dark) and had to reverse all the way down the road. If you are coming by car, make sure you can reverse park :D

We would definitely recommend staying here and I will be recommending to my friends and family. It was such a great weekend away.

Lovely property great location heating problems

  • 4 of 5

When we arrived the heating was not on in the property and it was very cold it eventually got sorted out by Anne later that day but took a long time to warm up. However the heating in the conservatory did not work all of our stay Anne did provide a small heater for that room but unfortunately it wasn't good enough to warm the room. So we was unable to use the conservatory at all whilst staying there which was a shame.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the heating difficulties. We have not had any problems with the heating to date. The heater in the sunroom is now in the process of being replaced, following your feedback to Anne. We hope to welcome you to The Stables in the future. Rachael Jones Owner

Ideally located to enjoy the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales (and the Three Peaks), wildlife at Leighton Moss (featured in Autumn Watch) and the beautiful Morecambe Bay.

The property is set within the rural location in the village of Warton, with its connections to the George Washington family, two Public Houses, both serving real ale and home made food, and a Post Office.

There are a multitude of walks in the area including the Warton Crag, from your door, offering the most beautiful views over Morecambe Bay.

If you enjoy water sports there is water skiing, sailing, kayaking and Banana boating at Pine Lake Resort, a mere mile away.

Visit the historic County Town of Lancaster, famous for its castle and witches.

Leighton Moss, featured on the BBC programme Autumn Watch, a mere mile away, is a paradise for bird watchers.

Bring your bikes, or hire them locally, as with over 70km of traffic free cycle paths, Lancaster and Morecambe are some of the best places in the country to cycle.
