About Jenny and John Carruthers

Ness Farmhouse is our permanent residence. We have lived in the village since 1986, and before that for ten years in Inverness and know the Highlands well and will happily advise visitors about the area.

Jenny and John Carruthers purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Jenny and John Carruthers chose Inverness

We liked the traditional architecture of the house and its position so close to the beach.

Most splendid retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Great cosy, comfortable, peaceful cottage to relax in. Very friendly, welcoming hosts. Meticulously clean, everything you need. Superb base for touring the Black Isle and surroundings. I would not hesitate in returning. Lovely welcome basket, especially the tasty homemade shortbread. Went down a treat with my whisky each night! Described as small - no need - it was just perfect for the two of us. Loved the tide times & weather forecast on the notice board, most helpful.

Thanks again.

A wonderful little cottage on the Black Isle

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights in this delightful cottage which although on the owners land is separate and privacy maintained. John and Jenny are delightful and helpful hosts who welcomed us warmly and provided a generous welcome basket. The cottage is light and modern with a well equipped kitchen for self catering. The lounge spacious and comfortable and warm with both central heating plus additional heaters if the weather cold. The local walks were easy and on our back door and this is an ideal location for exploring northern Scotland. It was good value for money, we would highly recommend this venue and would certainly return.

Eine Wohlfühloase auf der Black Isle

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

1 bedroomed cottage attached to owners property. Quite small but perfect size for the two of us. Well equipped kItchen, comfortable lounge with small tv, but don't go on holiday to watch TV. Bathroom with excellent shower. Beautiful area , we were lucky enough to see the dolphins. Learnie red rocks good for mountain biking, not too challenging with stunning views. Fairy Glen worth a visit, also Cromarty has plenty of cafes and lovely little place. Jennie and John lovely couple.

A perfect cottage for two

  • 5 of 5

Probably the best self-catering cottage we have ever stayed at in an excellent location. John and Jenny were very friendly and helpful owners and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. A perfect spot to relax and the only minor downside was the weather, but that wasn't why we were there! Close to the beach and we watched the bottle nosed dolphins every day. Ideal for coastal and woodland walks and taking bikes was a bonus.
