'La Petite Maison' Stylish interiors, peaceful garden all with great views.

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
Sleeps 4 (plus a baby or extra child) in stylish comfort deep in the Cote d'Or

Newly renovated in 2015, this is a delightful, stylish cottage is perfect for discovering the Cote d'Or and Burgundy. A sister property to The Barn in Frolois (ref:801374), just 1km away. See www.burgundyhideaways.co.uk.

La Petite Maison offers two stylish bedrooms, two bathrooms and spacious living area, accommodating 4 people in comfort. Bedroom one has a large double bed (160x200) located upstairs from the living area with its own en-suite shower room. Outstanding views lead across the valley from the Velux window. Bedroom two is down a few steps from the living area, configured with two single beds (90 x 200) and has a shower room opposite. A very large picture window in this bedroom looks onto the garden and the view beyond. Both bedrooms have ample storage for all of your belongings. The light bright living area is an open plan, well thought out space with fully fitted, fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher) dining and lounge area that open out onto a beautiful mature garden with meandering footpaths leading to hidden corners. Two further picture windows in the living room allow the garden indoors with lovely views. Children will love to play hide and seek in this enchanted garden and adults will love to relax on the sunny terrace with a stone table and benches, or the shady alfresco dining area undercover offering protection from the sunshine or the odd shower. All areas enjoy the wonderful green view across the valley. A quiet and private location to enjoy the peaceful setting. There is space for two cars to be parked off road.

For our younger guests we can provide a cot (positioned in either of the bedrooms) or a fold away bed for an extra child (80x200). There is also a high chair, stair gate, changing mat, toys, books, DVD's at no extra cost. There is a microwave to make baby food preparation easy, plastic plates and cups along with child sized cutlery. A baby's bath can be easily positioned in the larger downstairs shower room.

To complete your stay, we offer home cooked food that can be delivered to you and daily baked bread and pastries.

About the Owner

La Petite Maison is our second holiday rental property purchased. After three successful years running The Barn (ref: 801374) we decided to add this property to our collection and are happy to launch La Petite Maison for 2015/16 season.

We have renovated several properties in Burgundy during our 15 years of marriage, squeezing in two (delightful?) children who like to help with household and garden maintenance.

Wonderful gite

  • 5 of 5

We loved this gite and decided after only a few hours that we wanted to come back. It's been beautifully renovated with a wonderful eye for modern colour and design but still in keeping with its age and character. The views are fantastic, the bed is very comfortable and the house is well equipped with everything needed. It is within easy reaach of Dijon with the interestin Owl Trail, also many other medieval towns and castles, and the source of the Seine. Outside space is excellent with several seating areas. The owner is friendly and helpful and provided a lovely welcome pack for our arrival, as well as a very informative folder of things to do and places to visit. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely 2 weeks at petite maison, sharon and gregoire have made it a very comfortable place to stay with everything required there for a holiday, the gite was extremely clean and tidy for our stay.

Sharons baguettes and gregoires plum jam make for a perfect combination.

A lovely property set in a peaceful and tranquil location.

  • 5 of 5

We spent three weeks at 'La Petite Maison' in July 2016. The property has been tastefully renovated and is equipped with everything you could need. The property is located in a very peaceful valley with no passing traffic. There is plenty to see within a short drive and Dijon is only an hour or so drive away. There is also a large supermarket 20 minutes drive away that has everything you need.

Sharon offers a delivery service for bread and fresh croissants. We took advantage of this and It was wonderful to wake up every morning to the freshly delivered warm croissants.

We had a wonderful stay and would have no hesitation in returning there.

Lovely peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week (26th June-2nd July) and were lucky to have sunny, warm weather. The directions took us straight there and everything was as described. The property is exceptionally well appointed with everything you need. It is in a really quiet location and the internal layout means it would be suitable for 2 couples sharing.. We made good use of the outdoor space and the covered eating area. The owner Sharon visited on the first night and was very friendly and welcoming - the meals she provided on our first and last nights were very good. Would certainly recommend

Peaceful country retreat

  • 4 of 5

Very nice cottage, refurbished from scratch recently. Excellent attention to detail and clever forethought on the part of the owners mean that the accommodation and facilities make for a most comfortable stay and maximise the enjoyment to be derived from the stunning views over the valley. The secluded garden and its furniture (including a covered dining area and barbecue) would be great in hot weather (unfortunately during our stay it rained incessantly most days!). The cottage was clean and obviously well maintained; it generally conformed to its advertised description, though some might find the upstairs bathroom rather small.

The owners, Sharon and Gregoire, are charming, live very locally and are on hand to deal immediately with any problems that arise..On the day of our arrival, we had ordered a dinner to be cooked and delivered by Sharon; this was delicious and saved us going out to find a restaurant, of which there is a dearth locally. Further afield, within 15-20 mins drive, there are a variety of restaurants to suit different pockets and tastes--details are set out in Sharon's instructions in the cottage.

We made trips to Beaune (about one hour), Flavigny (including the winery) and Fontenay Abbey (a must), but really enjoyed most of all being at the cottage and drinking in its peaceful atmosphere. We would certainly recommend it with very few reservations.

Owner's Response: It really was a shame the weather was so wet during your stay at La Petite Maison. You should return again in the future to see the sunnier, warmer side of Burgundy. Many thanks you for your kind comments about the property. however, It is worth noting for future guests that the dimensions of the upstairs en-suite shower room is approximately 2.5m squared, with a standard shower size of 80cm x 80cm (sliding glass doors), a large wash basin of 30cm x 30cm, a standard toilet, and plenty of light and storage. It may appear smaller due to the sloping ceiling, but is otherwise of normal size. The spacious downstairs shower room is more generous with its proportions (shower is 120 x 90 cm), so our guests have a choice of two bathrooms to use during their stay, which is unusual for a property with only two bedrooms. Regarding the 'dearth' of restaurants in the area you mentioned, I must disagree! There are several to choose from all within 15/20 minutes of the house catering for different budgets and different tastes. If you venture further afield, there are many more on offer. Unfortunately, it is always necessary to drive to these establishments, which doesn't suit everyone, but it was with this in mind that my Husband and decided offer home cooked meals that are delivered to the house. This is hugely successful with our visitors and we receive very positive feedback from this (see reviews for property 801374 as well). New for this year is the introduction of the daily bread deliveries of croissants, pain au chocolats and mini baguettes. Also very popular. We aim to please all of our visitors to the Burgundy hideaways of La Petite Maison and The Barn, but the slow start to the 2016 summer along with a very wet Spring has meant that imagined days filled with sunshine and warmth did not occur as hoped this year.

Our little sanctuary!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a week of peace and quiet, following the long drive from our daughter's wedding in Spain. La Petite Maison ticked all the boxes! Sharon's communication from start to finish was excellent. We ordered one of her home made meals for our first night which was absolutely delicious (summer chicken and chocolate mousse). Her warm welcome on delivering the food was very much appreciated and we felt at home immediately.

The house offered everything we needed and more. Stylishly decorated, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Although the weather was cool we enjoyed a barbecue in the lovely outside area, which was a delight - birdsong being the only sound we could hear.

We hope to return soon when we have more time for sightseeing and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending La Petite Maison.

Thank you Sharon - it was a pleasure to meet you and to stay in your lovely home!

When we are looking for a holiday house to use for our family, we look for value for money and above all comfort and stylish interiors, and we believe this offers both. This sleepy peaceful village has picturesque charm with stunning views. Hours can be spent taking in the beautiful surroundings. Do not come here if you want a lively experience. But if relaxing in tranquil charm is your thing, then we would love to welcome you to this corner of the Cote d'Or.

  • We think La Petite Maison is ideal for a countryside getaway. Located in a small hamlet this house offers peace and tranquillity without compromise. Unfortunately there are no longer shops or restaurants in the village, but the owners offer a home made catering service of delicious regional cuisine that can be delivered to you oven hot or ready to re-heat as they live very locally. A daily delivery of pastries and baguettes can be arranged from the local Boulangerie and if needed, the owners can organise your grocery shopping to be ready in the property for your arrival (for a small fee). They are always on hand to offer help and advice on visiting the area and are happy to help with local reservations if needed.
