Pebble Beach House | Sleeps 5, Townhouse with Parking, Walk to Goodrington Sands

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Dec-2016
This 3 bedroom townhouse sleeps up to 5 and is close to all amenities

Pebble Beach House is the perfect holiday home to enjoy happy & memorable family holiday. The 3 bedroom townhouse has every modern convenience you need while on holiday including private parking and a small back garden to enjoy the beautiful Devon evenings with a glass of Prosecco!

Within walking distance of Goodrington North & South Sands and the much-loved holiday towns of Paignton & Brixham; Pebble beach House combines the delights of the stunning South Devon coast and countryside with the convenience of Dartmoor, Plymouth & Exeter.

Pebble Beach House is a place you and your family will really 'love to be beside the seaside, beside the sea'. With a different beach or cove for everyday of the week ~ Broadsands Beach, Elberry Cove, Goodrington Sands, Paignton Sands & Preston Sands plus Saltern Cove, Oyster Cove & Fairy Cove right on the doorstep. Paignton also has a large leisure park and boating lake, local shops and leisure amenities, plus a station on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway.

A walk away are the local shops of Goodrington & Broadsands plus the everyday shops and facilities of Paignton less than a mile from your doorstep. Paignton is a lively resort town, with a renowned food and drink scene, bars, nightclubs, theatres and cinemas. There is a variety of shops in the town, from high street fashion and beauty to smaller boutiques and seaside shops. It is full of great cafés and restaurants serving fresh local produce.

Not many places can rival The English Riviera for sunshine and the traditional British seaside holiday experience!

Paignton:

Paignton is traditionally known as a family holiday resort. Why? Simply because of its beaches and friendly atmosphere. Like all of Torbay, Paignton was frequented by Victorians and some of the architecture still remains. Parts of Paignton can be found in the Domesday book and has been a small fishing port in years gone by. The sea once lapped at where the railway crossing now is, until reclaimed.

Marldon, a mile behind Paignton beyond the hills is a very old village and stills hold that community atmosphere, with their own country fayre, pubs and village shops. It is from this area that Paignton spread out and down to the bay area. Winner Street being one of the first streets to develop as a trading area behind Palace Avenue and Paignton Church. Many visitors never reach this area, but is well worth walking around. There are small shops, restaurants and Palace Avenue Theatre.

Great Paignton Beaches and Panoramic Views:

Paignton beaches are without doubt the best in the bay. All the pre-requisites are there: Gently sloping, very sandy, protected from prevailing winds, supported by a good infrastructure of restaurants, bars, ice cream kiosks, beach shops and marine activities.

The beaches stretch for miles and we would recommend (for the energetic) taking a days stroll from the far end of Preston to Elberry Cove and back. This will take you through Paignton Sands, Fairy Cove, Goodrington (North and South) Sands, Three Beaches, Broadsands and over the headland to Elberry cove. Fabulous views, watering holes on the way at Goodrington and Broadsands, sea shell and glass collection and fresh air!

The Coastal Path:

Stretching from the South side of Brixham to Maidencombe, the coast path around the Bay offers excellent and varied walking, with circular walks or point-to-point, with spectacular sea views and an exotic range of flora and fauna.

The Area:-

There are 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves and beaches and walks to rival any in the South West of England, with a climate that belongs somewhere much further south. There are opportunities for surfing, safe swimming, diving, sailing, angling and wonderful opportunities to study the natural wildlife at your leisure.

Stunning views are to be seen just about every where across Torbay, out over the English Channel , along the 40 miles of Lyme Bay to Portland Bill or inland towards the Ten Tors Dartmoor. Shaldon and Teigmouth are ideal bases from which to visit Torquay, Dartmouth , Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth , all of which are only a few miles distant.

South Devon has a coastline of spectacular rugged cliffs and headlands, interspersed with lower-lying areas, sandy beaches and the five distinctive river estuaries of the Dart, Avon, Yealm, Erme and Salcombe.

The coastal scenery also includes reed beds, sand dunes, shingle ridges, mud flats, salt marshes, and the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. This variety provides habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. The South West Coast Path National Trail running along the whole stretch of heritage coast, provides access to spectacular scenery, long views across bays and the English Channel, interesting beaches, and a scattering of coastal villages & historic towns such as Salcombe & Dartmouth.

Further afield guests are within easy driving distance of discovering the Dartmoor National Park or to enjoy an afternoon visiting one of the 40+ National Trust attractions that are awaiting you in beautiful Devon!

Very Good

  • 4 of 5

The house is very modern and has all the things you need for a lovely holiday. There is a lovely sea-view from the Master bedroom and it was spotlessly clean and fresh. It is well located for visiting Torquay, Paignton and Goodrington Sands . You do need a car as it is very hilly and not good if you have mobility problems. The only down side was the construction traffic at 07.30 every morning because new houses are still being built at the end of the road.

Both Golf Club's are an extremely popular venue for visitors and societies alike - due to the excellent service and friendly welcome provided. It is a delightful parkland course with stunning views over Lyme Bay to the east and Dartmoor to the west.

Torquay makes a great short break for Golfers in both summer and winter. When many other courses are snowbound or unplayable the clement Torbay weather ensures that a full 18 holes can be completed!
