About the property

4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (3 en-suite), sleeps 8. Games room, fabulous kitchen.

Spacious (260 sq metres), very well equipped house on two floors forming part of renovated historic farm hamlet. The estate covers 5 acres, and includes eight houses set in lovely gardens, sharing a 20 x 10 metre travertine-lined pool and tennis court. Our house, the largest in the hamlet, has a private terrace and garden, and a beautiful shaded outside dining area. Spectacular views include mountains, vineyards, and the distant mediaeval towers of San Gimignano. There is a communal kitchen garden for herbs and vegetable.

We have created a very comfortable environment, as it is our second home, There are several very attractive architectural details. Inside, the floors are either marble or terra cotta tiles, and the furniture is a tasteful mixture of period and modern. Three double and one twin bedrooms are complemented by marble tiled bathrooms. The spacious arched living area has well stocked bookshelves, a wide selection of music and videos, and an open log fireplace. A large rustic kitchen has every convenience for the most enthusiastic cook.

The house is set on a hilltop in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, surrounded by rolling vineyards, olive groves, and wooded hills behind. Castellina in Chianti, a charming small hill town, is 5kms distant, while Siena is about 25mins by car, and Florence less than an hour. The coast can be reached in about 90 minutes, and Rome in less than three hours. The setting is idyllically peaceful, but many amenities are nearby. The area is plentifully supplied with good restaurants, the closest being only a few minutes drive away. The area is most attractive in all seasons; the summer is obviously warm sunny and dry, but also springtime brings an abundance of wild flowers, while the winter often has cold, clear sunshine with outstanding views.

Notes:

  • Our house, while very spacious, is suitable for couples, single or sharing families of up to eight people, and offers great comfort at all times of the year. One bedroom can be used as either double or twin, or for three children, although we prefer not have more than eight people in total. The pool and extensive gardens offer peace and relaxation, and for the more energetic, the area is ideal for walking, riding, cycling and other outdoor pursuits. The house is both cool in summer and warm in winter. The outdoor dining area can be used even when raining, while in the winter months full central heating and a supply of logs for the large open fire maintain a very cosy atmosphere. Our caretaker is available daily to deal with any problems.
