Luxury apartment in an Oxford landmark by the historic heart of the City

Eco-chic studios in this magical island building - Free wifi & linen service

Folly Bridge House is an Oxford landmark. A crenellated Georgian tower standing in the River Thames at the point of the original 900 AD oxen ford, it conjures all the romance of the city.

This is the spot where Alice in Wonderland was invented by Lewis Carroll. On Folly Bridge, the 13th century philosopher and alchemist Roger Bacon had a tower. From the roof, the River Thames and the dreaming spires of the city spread out before you.

Folly Bridge House has been beautifully restored by a potter and a photographer. This studio apartment is one of eight available, which can be rented in combination to house up to 16 people. Only five minutes walk from the top of the High Street, the colleges and shops, the studio lets you be in the bright lights in a moment and yet return to the tranquillity of the river.

The apartment is filled with artworks and has huge windows on two sides giving bright views of river life both up and downstream. Set back from the road and with new double glazing, it is well insulated and quiet. On fine days, the water is heated by the solar panels on the crenellated roof. A heat recovery system takes the heat from stale used air to warm fresh air coming in from the breezes blowing over the top of the house.

The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel worktop and the elegant necessities of city living for two. There is superfast fibre optic broadband and flatscreen TV/DVD. Chairs and tables by the river allow guests to watch the canoes, punts, narrow boats, barges and university rowing crews at play. CCTV monitored parking is available in front of the house.

Just across the courtyard is one of Oxford's most fashionable eating places, the Folly, which provides elegant riverside dining. A discount is offered to guests at Folly Bridge House and room service is available if the restaurant is not too busy.

Price inclusive of linen change and Welcome Pack of toiletries and cleaning products.

Parking available at an additional cost of £25 per week.
