High expectations met
We had high expectations from the online listing and the property lived up to this. Everything we could want for a week. Lovely gite, quirky and full of character. Beautiful and quiet location.

Peace and tranquility
This lovely property is isolated with the nearest bars/restaurants being 5km away, so a car is a must. However, it is incredibly relaxing to spend time in this beautiful house, which is well equipped and has a pool that is ideal to cool off when the weather is warm. We did think the outside lighting could have been better as we thoroughly enjoyed being able to sit out in the external seating and BBQ area in the evening but felt we needed additional light for playing cards, reading etc. If you enjoy being somewhere with "dark sky" this is certainly worth considering. A negative may be that the pool is not professionally cleaned during the rental, therefore clearer instructions on the need for maintaining it, we feel, would be helpful. Also, be aware that the 3rd bedroom is a mezzanine above the 2nd bedroom, sharing the bathroom and toilet - while this would be fine for a family, it may not be suitable for three individual couples to share. Accessing the attractions of the Perigord/Dordogne Valley region does take time, with Sarlat / Domme almost 2 hours away, but Bergerac and the area south is very nice with some lovely towns and villages to visit. But again, if you want to do nothing but relax while you are on holiday, then this is the ideal place to be.

Lovely house and garden but the vast number of rules meant we did not feel we were really welcome.
Having rented a wide range of properties in Europe over the past few years our impressions of his property are mixed. This is a spacious, character cottage in lovely rambling gardens with an attractive little pool with a small deck. The bedrooms were a good size and well presented and the kitchen was comfortably large enough. Only the children used the lounge as it was rather cramped for 7 of us. However we felt that as it was the hosts own house they were actually not really happy to be renting it out and were therefore rather defensive about being approached with problems . Only 36 hours before our arrival we received a list of house rules which ran to 3 sides of A4 telling us what we couldn’t do and what I can only describe as a mini rant about problems they had with noisy thoughtless previous tenets and gave the impression they were forced to live uncomfortably in a converted barn as they could not trust us. This impression did not make a very good start to our stay as I felt I was an unwanted guest. I am glad to say we managed not to do any of the things on the list and resolved not to complain about the problems we encountered unless absolutely necessary. The pool needed more maintainence than was available but the owners told us they would be away so we felt awkward about contacting them. A number of things went unreported after they suggested the bed was only uncomfortable if we had broken it. In fact it was broken we discovered after taking it apart ourselves and fixing it. We fixed the smell of urine from the downstairs toilet, which you could smell from the small bedroom, managed without the oven and kettle we were expecting also made the barbecue fit for use. I think some of these problems were due to misunderstanding on both our parts my French and their English not being great! I did not clean the house in line with their expectations and apologised for not paying the cleaning charge. (It was taken from the deposit along with local taxes. However I feel they would not have been happy whatever we had done and need to understand that a holiday rental of this type costing close to £3000 requires a little more flexibility on their part.

What a wonderful Place 2 be
Such a lovely place to relax in and around the house on summertime. We stood there for a week on our journey to the Atlantic coast and had a wonderful time at the pool. There is a lot of space and a perfect equipped kitchen for a long dinner outside, everyday.
