A perfect place

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the area. The cottage was in a beautiful setting, very well appointed and immaculate and fully met our expectations. There was plenty to see and explore in this part of Kerry and we had some great walks as well as visiting historic sites. Kerford Cottage provides a great base for exploring the Ring of Beara and the Ring of Kerry and the local town of Kenmare offered a good mix of shops and places to eat out. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful and we hope to return at some future date.

Super cottage

  • 5 of 5

An excellent cottage, with views to die for. It was very clean and compact and well equipped, actually better than it looked on the website. Margaret, the owner was very helpful and was next door should problems arise. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to return some time in the future. The cottage is right on the ring of Beara and we thought it was more scenic than the ring of Kerry, plus you had the roads to yourself. If you love seafood, as we do, Star seafoods, 5 minutes down the road, sells the freshest and cheapest fresh fish we've had in a long time. Overall a great stay, thank you.

Very comfortable and homely

  • 5 of 5

I was met by the owners (Margaret) and was welcomed.I must add that this was earlier than the normal check in times which made the journey a lot pleasurable. Margaret saw that I was tired after a long journey so she quickly ran through all the details of the property , all of which were in a folder for me to read later . Settling in was easy as the property was very comfortable and straight forward. All the facilities were brilliant especially the lovely shower. We had a great stay at the property which is in a beautiful area of Ireland.I never saw Margaret until my last day although she wasn't far away if I needed something. Having explained that I had to leave early the next day she said that was ok and explained the arrangements for leaving the key to the property.

I would definitely recommend this area and property to friends and family. Thanks Margaret.

Kerford Cottage No. 2

  • 4 of 5

Kerford cottage is a nice place to explore the southwest landscape of Ireland. It was very clean and we enjoyed our stay, but the WiFi-access wasn't so good. There's only one room - the living room - where we could use the eithernet. Maybe the router is in the main house an it's to far away for the cottage.

Owner's Response: Hello Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to hear you thought the wi-fi was disappointing but I'm afraid there is nothing we can do about this - the router is in your cottage above the lounge ceiling but as I explain to all our guests our signal is picked up from the Mast from over the Bay - now usually this will be good enough for both cottages and ourselves to use but in peak times - i.e. July/August it does struggle - but we DO get a service and it is offered to our guests free of charge. I do not think, living in rural Ireland we will ever be in a position to offer super-fast broadband!! The compensation to this of course is the beauty of this area that we live in! Kindest regards, Margaret

Great "summer" holidays

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a peaceful and silent spot to relax, you best choose this one.

Here you will find a nice and lovely place to stay in the heart of coastal Kerry.

Situated a few km outside of Kenmare a bit uphill with a nice view over Kenmare bay. In the village itself you should find everything needed for daily routine - pubs, various stores (such as Aldi, LIDL, SuperValu), souvenir shops, ...

The cottage is tastefully furnished, nothing is missing and all in best order.

We stayed for 12 nights and had time enough to explore the fantastic landscape from Mizen Head up to the Dingle Peninsula.

Contact in the preparation of our stay at Kerford Cottage (booking, directions, etc.) with the kind and helpful owner was no problem.

For this location we dont't hestitate to express an explicit recommendation.

A quiet and peaceful setting with one of the best breathtaking views overlooking Kenmare Bay, the MacGillycuddy Reeks and Caha Mountains. Situated 7kms from Kenmare - known as the jewel on the Ring of Kerry, one of the most attractive towns in Ireland, which bustles with over 30 restaurants, bars and craft shops and a host of activities for your enjoyment. Touring the surrounding areas from Kerford is a pleasure not to be missed. The famed Ring of Kerry with its breathtaking views is complimented by the equally majestic Ring of Beara. Short enchanting drives to places like Gleninchaquin Falls, Cloonee Lakes, Dereen Gardens, Healy Pass, Glengariff, Garnish Island and the Caha Pass will all leave lifelong memories. Kenmare boasts an excellent 18hole golf course and also the Ring Of Kerry Golf and Country Club. Fishing the many rivers and lakes, or even deep-sea angling, will prove to be rewarding. Our cottages are on the Wild Atlantic Way so if you are doing the journey we are a good destination for the South West part of it.
