Peaceful Location, Short Drive To Beaches And Famous Sights

The house «La Fontaine» is a more than century-old stone house which has been completely refurbished and extended in recent years.

It features a vast open plan kitchen (760ft2 / 70m2) which is flooded by sunlight all day long. Behind it there is a pantry and a small bathroom with shower and toilet. The fitted kitchen has a dishwasher and powerful hood under which both an electric and gas hob are located. In the pantry there are coffee machine, refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave and washing machine.

In the lounge there are several comfortable chairs (four of which are also suitable for outdoor use) and a leather sofa bed with a queen-size bed. The space with the sofa bed can be separated by a curtain from the rest of the room to have some privacy.

Upstairs are three bedrooms. The master bedroom with private bathroom (shower and toilet) has two large beds (120 cm) and a standard bed (90 cm). The other two bedrooms accommodate a queen-size bed (140 cm) and two single beds (90cm) respectively. A baby cot is available and can be put in any of these rooms. Also upstairs there is a second bathroom with a large bathtub and a toilet.

The huge terrace (550ft2 / 50m2) and the large green garden invite you to play or relax. At its end, protected by an old stone wall lies a tiled patio, which is secluded and therefore ideal for sunbathing. For the terrace there is a table, which can accommodate up to ten people. There is another table for use on the patio at the end of the garden. There are plenty of seating and sunbathing facilities.

The property is well equipped with everything that makes a holiday a treat.

A tastefully renovated property

A tastefully renovated property in a beautiful village and in a stunning part of the country. Lovely, sunny French neighbours who reflect the magnificent Languedoc climate. Well equipped, spacious house with all the mod cons and a fabulous view. Two great restaurants on the doorstep and within easy driving distance of all this area has to offer, which is a lot. We had a great stay!

It is very rewarding to rent out, when you have guests staying, who really enjoy their stay and also let you know. Penny, her partner and their dog also left our property behind in immaculate condition, which in return is very much appreciated by the owners. :-) I can highly recommend them: It is a joy to have them as guests.

Clean, Spacious and Super Location

The property was as impressive as described and fulfilled our requirements entirely. The house has been refurbished to a very high standard with all mod cons whilst maintaining its' charm and character. The decked area is perfect for dining alfresco and enjoying the views across vineyards. The village location is a great base for exploring with Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beaches and some idyllic mountain villages all within 1hr radius. The restaurant La Luciole located a short walk away is highly recommended along with the property itself.

Een aanrader!

Het is altijd maar weer afwachten hoe een huis voor de Kerstvakantie in werkelijkheid er uitziet. En of het wel comfortabel genoeg is voor deze periode. Maar dit huis was meer dan verwacht. Het huis was met zorg ingericht en in tegenstelling tot andere (vakantie)huizen voorzien van alles wat je je maar kunt bedenken om een goed diner te bereiden.

Daarnaast een opvallend goede en snelle service toen we constateerden, dat er iets defect was.

De omgeving was prachtig; afwisselend natuur en cultuur, mogelijkheden voor diverse activiteiten. Spanje was binnen een uur goed te bereiken.

Vergeet vooral niet de lokale wijnen te proeven. Deze hebben ons aangenaam verrast.

Kortom: niet meer twijfelen, maar gewoon dit huis boeken, want het is echt een aanrader!

Zuhause ist es am Schönsten? Dann machen Sie hier

Am Rande des kleinen Dorfes Luc sur Orbieu liegt dieses stilvoll renovierte Steinhaus. Hier hat jemand viel Herzblut, Liebe zum Detail und Geschmack investiert und den südfranzösischen Charakter des Hauses mit klassischem Design kombiniert.

Die Zimmer sind hell und geräumig, so dass bequem 2 Familien oder 3 Paare Urlaub machen können und auch in Sachen Ausstattung fehlt es an nichts.

Hier gehen Sie bestimmt nicht baden - außer in einer ganz schön netten Badewanne.

Die Nachbarn sind freundlich, die Lage ruhig, die Touristen in weiter Ferne und der Besitzer hat Ausflugstipps in der näheren und weiteren Umgebung für seine Gäste zusammengetragen. Man fühlt sich in dem Haus willkommen und wohl. Luc-sur-Orbieu ist charmant und verschlafen und bietet einem alles, was man zum Leben braucht: einen kleinen Supermarkt, Bio-Wein direkt vom Chateau de Luc, einen Frisör, ein sehr gutes Restaurant, einen Feinkostladen und eine Apotheke. Wir sind gepflegt über die Runden gekommen!

Ein paar Dörfer weiter kann man in der Orbieu baden und sogar von der Dorfbrücke aus in die Tiefe springen. Ein wahrlich besonderes Plätzchen. Das Meer mit seinen endlosen Sandstränden ist in fahrbarer Distanz, Radeln am Canal du Midi ist wunderschön und einige attraktive Städte sind in Tagesausflügen zu erreichen. Wer einen abwechslungsreichen Urlaub abseits von Touristenhochburgen und überfüllten Stränden sucht, ist hier richtig.

Am Ende des Urlaubs freut man sich auf sein eigenes Bett und das heimische Bad? Ich muss Sie enttäuschen. Hier nicht.

P.S. Ach ja, in Gruissan gibt es eine Saline mit einem wunderbaren kleinen Fischlokal, das sehr zu empfehlen ist.

Excellent and well equipped in a beautiful setting

Had a fantastic time here with two boys aged 6 and 8. The property is really well specified and the owner, who I think is Swiss or German?, has finished it off with real precision and care. It feels very up to date and comfortable and well equipped inside, but the exterior and the garden has lost none of its charm and it was lovely to sit out on the fantastic verandah in the evening enjoying the tranquil view across the vineyards. Local facilities met our needs, combined with occasional supermarket forays further afield.

Our kids enjoyed the beaches but we had most fun in the river Orbieu - lovely fresh water with some beach areas and easy to access. It is worth driving about an hour south west into the hills at Termes to swim in plunge pools of the gorge river there.

We also like wildlife and recommend Minverve - a fantastic hilltop town about 40 minutes north of the house with beautiful, but very rocky, limestone gorges and meadows; lots of birds of prey. On the coast, a limestone hill north of Etang de Leucate lagoon yielded a few early migrants travelling down the coast while the lake itself had loads of good birds. Would like to visit in spring or autumn and hear the Leucate headland can be amazing for migrant birds.

Thanks for a great stay. Hope to visit again in 2014.

Luc-sur-Orbieu is conveniently located right in between Narbonne and Carcassonne. Close to the sea and close to the motorway, yet peaceful and quiet. The village has a good infrastructure: an excellent restaurant, a well-stocked épicerie (grocer), a pharmacy, a doctor's office, a post office and of course several wineries. Just five kilometers north there is the small town of Lézignan with several shopping centres, petrol stations, car repair shops, bike shops, restaurants, bakeries, a renowned fish shop and a widely popular Wednesdays market.

I always dreamt of having a property in a beautiful setting close to the Mediterranean. Of course it had to be an old stone house with lots of character, which I could refurbish myself. Moreover we just love the area: beautiful sceneries wherever you go and so many sights to visit, so many activities outdoors. And last but not least: The Corbières are a wine makers region with literally hundreds of Châteaux producing very fine wines for decent prices.
