A Charming Tuscan Nest for Foodies

Overview

Property

Updated: 29-Feb-2016
peaceful & relaxing country house with use of pool

Le Fate is a charming apartment in a typical 11th century Tuscan stone farmhouse, nicely restored and decorated, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, just outside the tiny medieval village of Montefioralle, in the heart of Chianti. The homely apartment, sleeps 2 + 2, has a large fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom, a bathroom with bathtub, an upstairs living room with a double hideaway bed, WiFI indoor and outdoor, a terrace and a garden with a stunning view and the use of a private pool at 15 minutes driving.

It is also a true heaven for Foodies: in the same building the owner runs a known cooking school where you can learn the secrets of the Italian kitchen by attending her hands-on classes.

The peaceful and relaxing atmosphere of the country home and the beauty of the surrounding Tuscan hills make this place a paradise of tranquillity. It is centrally located to many other villages and towns in Chianti: Greve (5 min), Panzano (15 min), Radda, Castellina (30 min), Badia a Passignano (20 min), Volpaia (30 min). Firenze is at 45 minutes driving, Siena at 60 min, San Gimignano at 45 min and Volterra at 90 min.

The property was charming and refreshingly different from hotels. Equally charming is Stefania and her cooking school. I have had success with her recipes and requests for them. The hilltop location permits walking through vineyards, forests and it is beside a small village with restaurants and cafes. We rented a car, touring the area and nearby Greve.

Perfetto!

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we arrived, we felt at home. Stefania is a wonderful hostess and has made Le Fate a cozy, comfortable, wonderful home away from home while maintaining a rustic, Tuscan feel. We stayed in early October, just as the leaves on the vines were changing and the views from the house and the garden were simply magical. With the hill top town of Montefiorelle just steps away from the front door made for a beautiful and very peaceful place for our holiday. The location is excellent for driving to many of the great towns, sights and wineries of the Chianti region. Stefania was simply lovely, had great recommendations for restaurants and could not have been nicer! We hope to return and I very highly recommend staying with Stefania!

Wonderful place to explore the Chianti region

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time staying in this apartment in Montefiorelle. Great location for exploring the Chianti region and beyond. Wonderull restaurant in the town, and a quick drive (or somewhat longer walk) into the beautiful town of Greve.

The villa itself was comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it.

Beautiful and rustic farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

After many hours of searching on the internet, we finally found the right place... And it turned out to be true all the way. Le Fate is a true gem here in the middle of all the vineyards. We like things to have a little edge, is rustic, yet romantic and preferably with good comfort, such as nice bathroom, workable kitchen and proper beds . And then obviously, extremely clean everywhere!

This is how it is here with Stefania. So if you 're looking for an authentic charming Tuscan apartment, then you have found it. Very centrally located and yet in the countryside. The extra spice to our stay, it was to attend Stefania's cooking lesson. An unforgettable afternoon in company of Stefania and her other guests - great food and Chianti - of course! Kind regards from Lauge and Susanne, Denmark

Wow!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were lucky enough to have been introduced to Le Fate by accident late last year. We stayed for 3 days in the middle of a 3 week holiday and by the end of our vacation, it had become the highlight of our trip.

This year we couldn't wait to return and booked an entire week, this time booking a cooking class as well, which I highly recommend! The entire experience of staying in the charming apartment, attending the cooking class and being hosted by Stefania was incredible, to say the least. You'll not find a better host or location for your Tuscan visit. There's not much more to say, that already hasn't been said by the other reviewers. I completely agree that this is the perfect place.

It was only a 40 minute drive from the Florence Airport to Le Fate so it's proximity to the city is great even though it's tucked away perfectly in a beautiful hilltop Medieval town. The location is also very central to many great wineries, towns and villages in the Chianti area making it easy to fill every day with an abundance of things to do and see.

We can't rave enough about Stefania and Le Fate.

This is by far, the best place to enjoy a Tuscan holiday. We're even thinking of returning in 2015 for our third year in row.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Le Fate with Stefania for three nights during our honeymoon. Our experience was absolutely amazing. In short, if you are looking for an authentic, quaint, peaceful, beautiful place to stay in Tuscany stop looking and stay here.

We arrived in the late afternoon and were greeted by perhaps the most hospitable person we encountered during our stay in Italy. Stefania was an incredible host. She showed us around the apartment which is actually quite large--half of a 12th century villa restored meticulously and decorated beautifully. The kitchen is fully stocked, just waiting for a large gourmet meal to be made. A bottle of Chianti was waiting for us. Every little thing was thought of--complete with little notes all over the apartment with helpful tips and instructions on how to get the most out of one's stay. Breakfast the first morning was provided, what a pleasant surprise!

We spent our visit touring local wineries and eating/drinking our way through Tuscany. Stefania was extremely helpful. She booked restaurant and vineyard reservations for us, all of which were excellent. (Eat at La Castellana!).

We did not do Stefania's cooking class, though it got rave reviews from her students. The grounds of the farm house, as well as the town of Montefioralle are incredible. My wife and I cannot rave enough about our experience at Le Fate. Please save yourself some time, stop looking, and book a few nights at Le Fate--you will be blown away.

We cannot wait to come back!
