Self-Catering Two Bedroom/Two Bathroom Sleep 4

The flat is located in a residential area of West Kensington in a Victorian Terrace property with 5 floors. The flat is located on the First Floor - one flight of stairs, please note there is no lift in the building.

The flat is bright and has a large reception room with seating and dining for 4. There is a TV with a number of Freeview channels & DVD player & books. The flat has free wi-fi /broadband access.

Bedroom 1 faces the street and has a double bed (4'6 wide) with ample wardrobes.

Bathroom 1 is off the hallway and has bath with wall shower, WC. Handsoap and Body wash are provided

Bedroom 2 - faces the rear gardens and has 2 twin zip and link beds which can be zipped to form a superking bed (6ft wide) there are ample wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom.

Bathroom 2 - En-suite which has a shower, WC & basin.Handsoap and Body wash are provided

Kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery and crockery, pots & pans. There is an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine, dishwasher and washing machine (* this has a dryer combined however this only drys light items not jeans or towels.There is a laundry around the corner with large dryers which dry very quickly and costs a couple of £).

We provided Linen and Towels. There is a hairdryer provided, please do not bring any hairdryers or curlers/straighters which do not comply with UK voltage 240V.

The flat has easy access to Central Line Underground Station (Shepherds Bush) which is a 5 min walk from the flat. There are also a number of bus stops. It is walking distance to Notting Hill Gate and Kensintgon Gardens. Alternatively you can catch a bus as there are numerous buses. Hammersmith Underground (Piccadilly Line) is a 12 mins walk away or again there are numerous buses from Olympia which also takes you to the West End.

If you enjoy shopping it is a 5 mins walk to Westfield Shopping Centre where you can shop and then enjoy a meal or the cinema.

If you fancy a day trip to Oxford you can hop on the Oxford Tube which you can catch from Holland Park Avenue again a few minutes walk away.

* Please note the flat is on a residential street so not busy with cars however it is London and can be subject to street noise and neighbour noise at it is a terraced property built over 100 year ago ! so there is not soundproofing. Likewise the gardens to the rear do have foxes and they can on occasions make a noise at night.

Convenient but lacking in amenities

Not totally understanding the geography of the London area, I didn't realize this flat was as far away from central London as it turned out to be. I was hoping for a shorter ride on the tube but after a few days we got used to it. From an American's perspective, the flat in something a kin to a dorm room. It is a very spartan decoration with a few creature comforts. While it was not unattractive or displeasing, it was not "comfortable". In fact I strongly considered purchasing visco foam mattresses and leaving them at the flat because the beds were extremely uncomfortable and hard. Likewise, the chairs and couch in the living room area were very uncomfortable for sitting. The gentleman who checked us in was very polite and helpful. It did take us a while to find the flat because there are a few steps missing from the instructions once you leave the tube station. If you want to find this flat I would suggest printing out a map before you travel.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the flat. With regard to your complaints I will refer to each separately. Firstly location. London is a very large city, the flat is within a 5 min walk to the Underground Station which is on the Central Line and it is 6 stops from Oxford Street, which most people would consider to be central (12-15 min trip!)I am unsure as to how much shorter you required it to be? The flat is a 20-25 min walk from Notting Hill Gate and Kensington Palace.? I provided you a link to The Transport For London website which provides maps and journey routes with timings which allows guests to do their research if they feel the location & travelling time is suitable for what they wish to see & do in London. If someone wants to be on the door step of the Tower of London, then they need to book in East London not West London. I am sorry you found the flat too far away from what you wished to do. Most of my clients have been quite happy with the easy access to transport from the location and I have many returning guest. It is however horses for courses. I have had a many American’s staying in my flats over the many years I have been letting – none have ever referred to my flats as “dorm rooms”. I went to boarding school I know what a dorm room is and they are certainly not that. This is clearly a more personal opinion. Perhaps as a more constructive criticism you could have been kind enough to inform me of some of the “creature comforts” that you feel should have been provided. You were provided with photos of the flat, which were an accurate reflection of the flat. This flat was not someone's home it is for letting so it is not overcrowded with furniture and personal belongings, which I assume is what you wanted. With regard to the beds the 2 single mattresses are new and are firm/medium. Unfortunately we are unable to cater for every persons individual requirements in regard to mattress’s. Perhaps if you had cared to inform us during your stay we would have been more than willing to have supplied a foam mattress topper for you. With regard to the directions no one has complained, until now & I was in fact advised to the contrary. A map with directions was provided to follow? However, as you say you got lost using the map and directions for the short distance to the flat it would have been nice if you could have informed us of the "few steps" you say are missing in our details in order to help others rather then "print off a map!"

Great flat, great location

This flat was absolutely perfect for our week in London. Our family of 4 with 2 teenage boys was comfortably accommodated by the 2BR/2BA layout. The living room and kitchen are spacious and well-furnished, and the location is great for getting around London by rail. Georgia and George are kind and responsive, and we even enjoyed seeing a pair of foxes relaxing in the small green space out back!

Home Away

We have been visiting London fairly often since we retired and always grateful to stay at "our London flat". The flat has all that we need and more. The facilities are modern, clean, and accessible. The location is awesome with one bus run to Piccadilly or transfer to parts around. We could not ask for more thanks to Georgia Florey and George. The flat we use is on the first floor (one floor above ground by Canada''s terms) and is quiet. Two bedrooms with an en suite and a second bath are also great. Thanks again to the folks that make London home.

Lovely week in London!

The apartment was well furnished and met the expectations form the photos! Well placed for attending a conference at Olympia Center. Also close to two Tube stations! George was very helpful checking-in and arranging transport to Stansted. All in all it was a great week and very comfortable!

Comfortable and convenient London apartment

The apartment was exactly as advertised. There were three of us staying in the apartment and we had plenty of space to spread out. The apartment was incredibly convenient to the Shepherd's Bush underground station and was also convenient to grocery stores and restaurants, but was located on a quiet street so we had no problems at night sleeping. We also felt perfectly safe in the neighborhood. Everything in the unit worked and it was clean and well maintained. I would certainly recommend this to anyone or stay here again myself.
