Gorgeous authentic villa with all the modcons

Blown away by how beautiful the property is and the terrace views are stunning. Space for an extended family but the layout means you still have quiet areas to relax in. The kitchen and eating areas are well equipped and homely so its very comfortable no matter whether you have beautiful sunshine or mountain showers. The local restaurant also does delicious takeaway pizza and you can bring them down the narrow alley to the house in 2mins and eat on the terrace.

Only con is no washing machine but that's fine, its a holiday so a good break!

Triora is an enchanting mediaeval village, with lovely local walks/runs, gift shops and a fab grocery store. The blue lagoons in the valley are there for the adventurous families to discover - sunbathing on warm rocks, jumps, slides, swimming and hidden waterfalls.

We loved it!

Owner's Response: It is a real pleasure to welcome guests like you, who also looked after the house so well! My only comment is that I'm sorry if I didn't mention that although we don't leave the laundry room open for unlimited use, guests can request laundry to be done for a small charge. We've had to lock the laundry room routinely because of other equipment that needs to be secured.

What more could you wish for in a holiday

  • 5 of 5

This house has everything needed for a perfect holiday, cleanliness comfort and a kitchen with everything that would be in your own kitchen and lots more and of course superb decor obviously restored with a labour of love which we all felt on entering through the entrance door into the amazing hall.

We arrived at the beginning of June, it was cold but no problem we soon mastered the very efficient stoves and open log fire and we were relaxed and enjoying the tranquil convent that we were staying in. Two days later we were sitting on the patio with its wonderful views of the mountains enjoying our breakfast.

The picturesque medieval village with its cobbled lanes, stone houses and of course no traffic was an added bonus. What an amazing place to stay!

We ate at the one restaurant most evenings the food was good with vegetarian options, it was not expensive nor was the wine and we could walk there, convenient for both my 90 year old father in law (who hasn’t stopped raving about his perfect holiday in Triora) and myself with limited mobility.

Walking and driving in the glorious mountains was outstanding with the beautiful wild flowers in abundance.

Thank you so much Deborah for allowing us to stay in your magnificent home.

This is the first time I have ever left a review but I felt I had to tell others what a lovely place this was to stay, though actually perhaps I shouldn’t and keep the secret to myself for my future visits. This is a compliment to Deborah and her husband.

If like us you are keen gardeners and you can tear yourselves form the convent then visit Hanbury in Ventimiglia also Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat close to Nice airport in France.

Best wishes for the future Deborah. Gwen Blandy Hastings

Owner's Response: Thank you Gwen. You will be most welcome back! Yes, the weather in Northern Italy this year was very up and down but the birds and flowers never seem to mind! Can't wait to be back myself!

Casa Convento has the best of two worlds. The medieval feel of the town Triora and all the modern comforts to have a splendid holiday.

Very well equipped, beautiful views and a charming interior.

It used to be a convent and the chapel makes it perfect.

We will certainly visit the casa again!

Truly Splendid!

  • 5 of 5

I have been visiting friends who live in the area for some years and wished to introduce further friends to the region. I was delighted when i found Casa Convento on this website and overjoyed when I arrived on a rather wet day in Liguria. The house is stunning, from the unassuming door on the narrow cobbled street you enter into a majestic house with stunning views. Everything in the house was immaculate down to the fine bedlinen and fluffy towels. The house was extremely well equipped and we enjoyed several evenings in the grand drawing room. Deborah has done an amazing job on restoring this intriguing building and I look forward to returning again one day to see how the remainder of the building turns out.

Nearest Airport : Nice airport at 103 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Castellaro Golf Resort in Imperia at 18 Kilometres Nearest Train : Taggia at 30 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Arma di Taggia at 30 Kilometres Car: recommended

50km to Perinaldo where there is an Observatory

We usually fly to Nice airport and hire a car there- the drive to Triora takes around 90 minutes- east along the Cote d'Azur then North up the winding Argentine Valley.

A car is recommended, but there is a regular if infrequent bus service from Triora to San Remo on the coast, which has a good train service.

The seaside in Arma, just 30 Km away by good but winding road, is very suitable for family day trips with lagoon type swimming, and many seafront restaurants and managed beaches.

Those who want a more Riviera feel with Casinos and Night Life can visit neighbouring San Remo, which also offers diving.

For longer day trips, visit neighbouring Ligurian valleys, and Monaco and the Cote d'Azur are 90 minutes away by car.

Although a major bustling town in the middle ages, Triora now has more of a village feel. However, it does have a high quality delicatessen, an excellent food and general supplies shop, a bakery, hairdresser, hardware shop selling all from clothes pegs to dishwashers via copper pans. There are many small gift shops, a post office, and Museum of Witchcraft and local history.

There is an excellent pizzeria/restaurant and three cafes.

In other villages, you will find a range of quality restaurants serving local delicacies including the famous Ligurian multi course Sunday lunch.

There are three golf courses in the vicinity;

Castellaro Golf Resort in Imperia, 18km to the south east

Golf Club San Remo 18 km south

Golf Club Garlenda in Savona, 28km east

From the Owner

Triora is in another world; near the top of the Argentine valley, surrounded on all sides by richly varied mountain scenery - it is a paradise for walkers, mountain bikers, lovers of nature and those who just want to 'stand and stare'. There are numerous other mountain villages to visit- each with its own character and speciality (snails, fungi, chestnuts, olives, deer).
