One of the Chelsea area of London's most cherished residents, Oscar Wilde, is quoted as having once said, "you never get a second chance at a first impression". Too true, and the Ivy Lettings team guesses that his primary inspiration for the former was the wonderful area of London where he had the good fortune to dwell; surely nowhere proves this maxim more than the glittering precincts of opulent Chelsea, whose lavish high street shops, branching off into calm and luxurious rows of residential townhouses, never fail to impress the visitor. Live the dream for a few days or weeks in the heart of it all: welcome to Chelsea View, our two-bedroom answer to chic Chelsea living.

Living and eating

A large and light open plan kitchen and living area, with fresh wooden flooring, await to welcome you to your new Chelsea home, all bright colours and clean-cut furnishings. A well-equipped kitchen, furnished with all the necessary appliances for your every culinary desire, allows you the luxury of choice: you can rustle up cosy family dinners, or lavish dinner-parties, depending on your taste and disposition, and the comfortable sofa and armchair, next to a welcoming wooden table (seats 6), means that just because you’re the chef doesn’t mean you can’t be the life and soul as well. A private balcony, with tremendous views of the cityscape, including the London Eye and the Shard, is the perfect place for morning coffee and metropolitan contemplation, or late night refreshment. All in all, this convivial space succeeds in uniting the beautiful and practical in seamless harmony. You can’t fail to feel entirely at your ease in this oasis of calm in the middle of the bustling cosmopolis.

Beds and baths

Two large and airy bedrooms, both with King sized beds (UK size, 5ft wide) beckon you irresistibly in, light and comfortable both, with storage space and wide windows – again, proof of this property’s happy marriage of aesthetics and practicality. Beside each bed, on either side, are reading lamps, and a small bedside cabinet, just the thing upon which to lay aside your book or ipad in favour of a dreamless sleep.

A well-fitted bathroom, decorated in simple and clean palette of white, provides you with all the necessary; lavabo, bathroom cabinet, and power shower. This property contains two WCs, as well as extensive storage space.

Access and suitability

This apartment is located on the 5th floor, and access is by stairs or elevator, according to your preference. This is particularly suitable for adult parties, or families who wish to benefit from this great location and have the luxury of comfort at compelling value in the heart of Chelsea. This apartment can sleep up to 6, thanks to the comfortable double sofa bed located in the living area.

Neighbourhood

You might just have hit upon the most desirable postcode in London: just off the King’s Road, a short walk from the bustling Fulham Broadway and Parson’s Green; within walking distance of all the fabulous boutiques and high street shops that line the King’s Road; an easy reach, either by foot or bicycle, from Sloane Square: this is the place to be. A constellation of the brightest and most glamorous bars and cafes are within a quarter of an hour of your door.

Take a pleasant walk up the King’s Road, with its multitude and variety of high street shops and boutiques, eclectic bars and sophisticated restaurants, and you will happen upon the hallowed precincts of Sloane Square, and from thence you are a few minutes from Harrods. For those of a Thespian bent, the Royal Court theatre is just on Sloane Square, and on Saturdays at the nearby Duke of York Square, a gastronomically cosmopolitan food market will hold all foodies in its thrall. The Saatchi gallery, a few minutes away, will delight all art fans, and a short and picturesque walk will take you down onto Chelsea embankment and the Thames, to the foot of the iconic Albert Bridge.

For those who like to look beneath the surface to the layers of layers of London history, which have built up over the centuries, Chelsea is a wonderful area to explore. Discover Crosby Hall, on Cheyne Walk, which was moved brick by brick from its original location in Bishopsgate, Thomas More’s house and an eternal monument to the ‘man for all seasons’; wander a little further down to what was once Henry VIII’s manor house (19 – 26 Cheyne Walk) and drink in the echoes of its old residents, from Katherine Parr (to whom Henry gave the house as a wedding present) to the tragic Lady Jane Grey, the nine – day Queen.

Chelsea has always been synonymous with wealth and royalty, ever since Henry VIII and his six successive wives haunted its enclaves, not to mention Thomas More, whose home in Cheyne Walk stands to this day. The King’s Road weaves its way through the area, carrying with it an aura of luxury and sophistication. However, despite its reputation for all that is chic and debonair, it still rings with the echoes of its Bohemian past, dispelling all odours of stuffiness. For centuries, home to a myriad of artists – many of the pre-Raphaelites, Turner, the satirist Swift, and historian Carlyle spent their lives here in Chelsea – it was more recently the roosting place for Swinging Londoners, and a decade later, the birth place of punk. The famous Chelsea Art School is still a mecca for aspiring young artists, and lends the area intellectual glamour, whilst the surprising mixture of traditional and esoteric bars and clubs attracts London’s Bright Young Things – Chelsea is still very much up for the party!

Modern, perfect location, clean and all you need!

Loved this property. Modern, spacious, new, nice patio too.

Clean, cozy and comfortable. Safe and quiet. Comfortable beds. Nice linens.

Close to major bus routes, restaurants and pubs. 10 minute walk to the tube one way and 5 minutes to the river the other.

It was perfect for us. We loved getting to know the Chelsea and Fulham area.

What a treasure Parsons Green was too,just a fifteen minute walk or 5 minute bus.

Had a daily run through the Old Brompton Cemetery that was wonderfully overgrown, clean and a place where we felt away from the city noise.

This is a great spot and we were happy to be in a lively area but away from the congestion of an overrated tourist area.

Highly recommend it along with a weeks Oyster Pass for buses and subways we went everywhere and saw everything but returned to our cozy space of bliss each night.

(Only suggestion/complaint is bring your own pillows, theirs were flat and lumpy.)

CHELSEA & BATTERSEA

Upmarket Chelsea forms a latticework of safe and quiet streets, peopled by monied Londoners, literary types and the native ‘Sloane Rangers’ who choose the area for its bustling cafes, independent businesses and artisan restaurants. The area’s main thoroughfare is the King’s Road, a delightful mix of chain stores and high-end boutiques. The area is home to the impressive exhibitions at the Saatchi Gallery, the horticultural displays of the Chelsea Physics Garden and the splendour of Sir Christopher Wren��s Royal Hospital, which plays annual host to the Chelsea Flower Show. You take a hop over to the river’s southern bank to reach charming Battersea, towered over by the decommissioned Power Station. Nearby sits Battersea Park, replete with fountains and boating lakes, delightful gardens, a small children’s zoo and the magnificent Peace Pagoda. Chelsea’s wealth has slowly spread to its more southerly cousin, and today the area is home to luxury riverside apartments and posh eateries.
