About the property

6 Bedrooms Sleeps 13+ Guests, Swimming Pool, Near Beaches And Ancient Temples

Cape Sounion, is one of Greece's most renowned locations, due to its unique landscape with multiple peninsulas housing long golden beaches, and of course its connection to ancient Greece. Sounion is home to the ruins of the renowned ancient Greek temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea in classical mythology. Its remains are perched on a cliff, surrounded on three sides by the sea. According to legend, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, leapt off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea.

''Villa Hera'', named after the ancient Olympian Goddess, is located a few hundred meters from the temple of Poseidon, and coupled with the twinkling Aegean sea beneath, constitute a truly amazing panoramic view from this marvellously located estate. The surrounding area can be described as a huge archaeological site brimming with history and natural splendour. Rare, treasured temples, monuments, and one of the oldest theaters in the world can be found in the vicinity. Even the city of Athens with its Acropolis is situated less than 70 kilometers away. As if this was not enough, Sounion boasts one of the finest natural coast lines of the mainland, filled with sandy beaches of exceptional beauty, all minutes away from the estate.

The villa itself owned and built by Greek architects, is a rare combination of elegant style and warm atmosphere. The indoors are comprised of 3 floors, each with its own living room, 6 bedrooms, 2 fully equipped kitchens, and 4 bathrooms. These large, comfortable living areas provide ample space and accommodation for large groups, and especially families with children. Throughout the home, wide windows allow the sunlight to pour in, delightfully illuminating the home, and well-placed balconies from which the amazing panoramic view can be appreciated are real treat.

Stepping outside, the villa further extends its invitation with wide patios and dinning areas, leading up to the large swimming pool, all overlooking the sparkling Aegean. Almost surrounding the estate is a wonderful private garden complete with a stone barbecue/gazebo, all coming together to create an astonishing blend of beauty, comfort and style, whose enticement is hard to refuse by anyone, and especially children who will surely appreciate the innumerable playing areas more than all.

This elegant, yet so welcoming villa, combined with a view of the sunset melting into the Aegean Sea, numerous sandy beaches begging for a dip, and ancient relics of unique interest at close proximity, join to create the potential for a perfect vacation.

Poseidon Temple visable from Patio

  • 4 of 5

Our three generation family of 10 required enough space so we weren't on top of each other as well as adequate space for meals and conversation. The property provided both for us....with a lovely covered area along the pool and 6 bedrooms. It was very hot, and without air conditioning or screens, bug repellent is a must...there were plenty of fans! The location was excellent.....an hour drive from Athens and close to a very nice grocery store and other amenities in Lavrio. Driving to other sites (Marathon and the Temple of Poseidon ) was easy. The ferry in Rafina gives access to the Cyclides Islands. The property is very well maintained and accomodating to a large group.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at the villa, and that you took advantage of the surrounding area. Although you were indeed unlucky regarding the rare heat wave, your notes on the Air Conditioning have been taken into account, and the villa owner is in the process of installing more units. Your feedback has been very helpful, and we hope to hear from you again in the near future! Kind regards, Alex

Amazing vacation in the perfect Villa!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a big house with a swimming pool for our big family and we found the best!!!

Villa Hera is a nice and lovely house, it looks much better in live than the pictures. The house is very clean and well maintained. It has a big kitchen so we prefered cooking instead of eating outside. We missed nothing: kitchenware, towels, linen and many games for the kids. We found also all the equipment for swimming like goggles and diving fins that made our time in the sea incredible.

The swimming pool is clean and big so the kids enjoyed it very much.

Mrs. Hera and her two daughters Vivi and Katerina were very nice to us. They wait for us on arriving and came back before our leaving to say goodbye.

Alex, the house manager was much much more than O. K., he was helpful and respond quickly to every question we had before and in the holiday.

The villa sits in a very quiet and nice area. It is only 5-10 minutes driving to the town were there are supermarket, restorants and a boat marina.

We loved the beachs. There are many of them close to the villa, sand, pablles, deep and shallow. Every day we were in another beach.

Sure I will recommend everyone and especially families to take this villa.

We had a great holiday and felt at home in the house and in Greece.

Thank you all Mrs. Hera, Vivi, Katerina and Alex for an unforgettable holiday!

We had a fantastic holiday

  • 4 of 5

The house is lovely, it has enough space and the view is awesome!!

The property was clean and well-maintained. The listing description accurate.

The kitchen is well equipped, we missed nothing.

The owner was very friendly. Sometimes it took a couple of hours to reach somebody or receive an answer.

We loved the nearby tavern on the beach and the sunset at the temple of Poseidon. Both a must go.

The pool is great. One thing we did not like was the chemicals in the water, unfortunately the white bathing clothes became yellow (it could be washed out).

Besides that, everything was just fine. Hopefully we will be back.

Perfect family holidays!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a large house to have a perfect family holiday in Greece and we definitely found it! Our stay there was excellent in every way, and we all had a great time, especially the kids. The villa is incredibly child-friendly and we really felt that it was built with that in mind. The spaces inside and outside the house are very large so the kids had plenty of room to play and explore, and we could always keep an eye on them as well. The house is more than fully equipped with all that we needed, from kitchenware to satellite TV and Wifi internet. The large swimming pool was great and we could see it from almost any window of the house.

Although the weather in Greece was relatively warm when we arrived, the specific location and the house itself were pleasantly cool at night. In the mornings we visited many beautiful sandy beaches in the area and tasted the delicious Greek cuisine at the surrounding taverns before returning to the house. Our favorite beach was just under the Temple of the Gods and was just fantastic.

Mrs Hera, the home owner was very polite and helpful, and Alex the manager was amazing. He was extremely quick to respond to our questions and went out of his way to accommodate our needs.

I definitely would recommend this house to families looking for a great Greek holiday experience!
