About Adam and Bernadette

Adam and Bernadette are an Australian couple who have two children, Sebastian and Georgina. Adam left banking in 2014 to pursue an interest in literature and writing, and Bernadette works for a major investment bank. They have lived overseas for many years in both London (UK) and Sydney (Australia). They have a large extended family, many of whom live in Dublin.

Adam and Bernadette purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Adam and Bernadette chose Malahide

Having spent many happy weekends in Dublin having 'the craic' with family and friends we bought this apartment in the upmarket village of Malahide and has it designed to our (very high) standard. We wanted somewhere close to the airport, a truly Irish village, and a quick trip into the city. Malahide ticked all the boxes and more.

What we first loved about our apartment is it's position with a private entrance directly off the village green, and the fact it was south facing. Being from Australia, sun and light are very important to us.

The other great thing is the area, Malahide, which is a friendly Irish village where the locals are welcoming, and because it is an 'up market' area it feels very clean and very safe. and the shops are good. I always come away with too many new shoes :)

We love walking and running (though not the distances we would like to!) and the castle and gardens area are our local track. It is hard to imagine a more beautiful place to exercise, the downside being the temptation to put back all the calories at the food hall and cafe.

If you see the photos you will also know that we love the apartment because it has been beautifully deigned and decorated, Our brief to the designer (the wonderful people at 'Out of the Blue') was to make this the standard of a luxury boutique hotel, but with the feeling of a home - and they got is exactly right.

We know that you will love it as much as we do.

What makes this apartment unique

The property is walking distance to everything (one minute to the Eurospar supermarket across the green, one minute in the other direction to the Yacht Marina; two minutes to lots of clothes stores, five minutes to the Dart (train station).

A truly unique feature, and one that you do not really appreciate until you get there, is the absence of the sound of cars driving past - because you are on a park, not a road. It makes for a very peaceful, restful holiday.

Perfect for the traveller and holidaymaker

  • 5 of 5

This place will exceed your expectations! Great relaxing location in the seaside village of Malahide, adjacent to and directly accessing the village green. The apartment is at the end of one of the main streets in the village and is part of the marina residential development with good pubs, great restaurants and two local grocery stores all within 2 minutes walk from the front door. Easy access to Dublin central via bus, train or taxi means you can be a tourist and return to your holiday home when you have finished exploring.

The two bedroom apartment is a good size. It is well laid out and furnished (having been recently renovated), with all the required amenities and support material to make any stay very enjoyable. There is ample space and carparking is available if needed.

The tourist information office is in the church recreation building near the coffee shop and is worth a visit to find out about things that are close by. There is plenty to do and see in and around the village plus some very good walks.

Bernie and Adam are extremely attentive and well organised owner. Everything in the apartment works and the instruction booklet covers everything you need to know about appliances, etc.

We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Great location away from the city

  • 5 of 5

This was our first vacation in Ireland and we really had no idea where to stay. I am so glad we picked this location. It was so easy to get to Dublin but so nice to come back to a quiet apartment in the evening. There were so many great restaurants in Malahide we ran out of time. Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating. The apartment was clean and welcoming.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Malahide is a lovely suburb of Dublin and a 15 min. Dart ride to the center of Dublin. This apartment at Malahide Marina has been totally newly renovated. All appliances etc. worked perfectly and the bed was comfortable. The owners provide v. good t.v. channels to relax with at night. Location cannot be beat. The apartment is lovely and sunny and looks out to the Green. There is a fairly new addition approx. 100 yds. away called Donnybrook Fair where you can buy everything you need with lovely ready made meals to go that just need popping in the oven. Malahide has approx. 41 restaurants and lovely shops. Malahide Castle is about 15 min. walk from the apartment and it is lovely just to stroll the grounds. The Dart and bus appox. 10 mins. away.

We would definitely rent the apartment again, if available, and we try and go to Dublin every year. Thank you Adam and Bernadette for a lovely stay.

Truly a great apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough great things about Adam & Bernadette and their wonderful apartment. Communication with the owners was spot on, emails were replied within 12 hours. Even while staying in their apartment, when we had a questions, they were super quick to respond. They also had a neighbor on site who was quite helpful with any & all information Malahide.

This apartment was small but perfect for our needs, everything had it's place and it worked great for us and our toddler. They layout was nice, after walking through the alcove, you were in the main sitting room with a dine in area and a stocked kitchen. After going through the hall we found a large bathroom and our 2 bedrooms, all was clean and tidy. there is a lovely outdoor eating area & to sit outside in May in Ireland was an absolute blast. Also, parking was FREE!!!

Staying here with a toddler was a joy. You walk outside and you are in a green space. We had bubbles, balls, frisbees and after a day of touring, it was an easy way to keep our daughter occupied. Also, walk through the green space, and go to the left you'll find a lovely pirate ship playground. Walk the other direction and visit Malahide Castle and you will discover the best playground ever!!!

The apartment is literally 3 min walk to Tesco express and Starbucks. A 5 min walk will get you to ANY restaurant in town. Also, take the DART!!! 5 min walk and a 15 min train ride and you're in Dublin.

Thank you Adam and Bernadette for a lovely stay and introducing us to your beautiful little town.

Convenient, cozy and charming

  • 5 of 5

What a great property and village! Nice to be able to enjoy all that Dublin has to offer and then with only an easy train rides and short walk from the train station, come home to this peaceful area and comfortable home. Great restaurants or pick up a ready meal at the donnybrook fair store across the street from the property.

Comfy bed and pillows in the master bedroom. All the necessary items throughout the house to make our stay easy and enjoyable.

We feel extremely lucky to have found this property for our stay in Ireland!

While retaining its 'village' atmosphere in the centre of the town, Malahide has established a reputation as one of Dublin's most desirable places to live and visit.

It is a picturesque maritime village enjoying a blend of contemporary chic with old-school Irish charm that is as unique as it is captivating earning itself a reputation as a seriously upmarket and cosmopolitan coastal village.

It is a designated Heritage Town that is convenient to both the airport (15 minutes) and Dublin city centre (20 minutes by train).

Admire stylish shop fronts with their hanging baskets lush and overflowing with colour; allow sea breezes to caress your cheeks; be hypnotised by the chime of halyards strumming their masts, join the buzz of chat and laughter from cafes and restaurants and embrace the wonder that is Malahide, Dublin’s favourite seaside village.

Malahide has also acquired a reputation as the gourmet capital of the East Coast of Ireland, with an array of restaurants noted for the quality and variety of their food representing many nationalities. Pubs with traditional music, fine restaurants, excellent shopping, and a quick train ride into the city make it an excellent choice for visitors.

A 'MUST SEE' is the historic Malahide Castle and Gardens, one of Dublin's leading tourist attractions. We encourage you to look at the malahidecastleandgardens website for more detail on the Castle, the 'Demesne' (being the extensive surrounding parkland) and the Village of Malahide. The courtyard area in the castle grounds is home to a new Avoca store, have been recently renovated with a brand new foodhall, cafe and retail store offering visitors from home and abroad a huge range of world famous textiles, food, clothing, homewares & gifts to suit all budgets.

The Demesne and grounds have pleasant walks, play areas, picnic sites, cricket pitch, tennis courts, 9-hole golf course and an 18-hole pitch and putt course. Fun for all the family!

The children’s playground, which is a short walk from the Castle, is split into sections for toddlers and older children. With slides, swings and climbing frames, the playground has something for all ages, including picnic tables where parents can keep an eye out.

The Demesne grounds has plenty of public sporting amenities including the Sports Pavilion (with a small shop for snacks, drinks and sporting equipment) a 9-hole par-3 golf course, with an 18-hole pitch-and-putt course, Tennis & Basketball courts and a Boules area.

Malahide is very popular with holiday makers and tourists, attracting thousands of visitors and foreign language students, visiting Ireland from across the world. Malahide Village is also very popular with visitors from America (USA), and Canada, who come to Ireland to trace their roots and heritage, immerse themselves in local culture, and history and of course, to play golf.
