Rural Retreat With Private Pool Sleeps 6. 60km Of Unspoilt Beaches.

Overview

Property

Updated: 28-Nov-2016
Sea and mountain views. Above ground pool. wifi. Air-con & wood burner. unspoi

A beautiful rural setting for peace and tranquillity. The house is positioned at the foot of a mountain with views to the Ionian sea. Ideal for rural holidays for families, couples and friends who love nature. Air conditioning fitted for the hot summer days and a log burner for those cosy winter evenings making this an ideal all year round holiday experience.

The open plan living area offers a comfortable relaxing space with a fully fitted kitchen including oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave. There is seating for dining inside and out. The lounge area has a flat screen TV and a well stocked bookcase for easy holiday reading.

The family bathroom is spacious with a shower over the bath, WC, hand basin and washing machine.

The main bedroom has a king size water bed with separate mattresses, bedside tables, dressing table, drawers and a large walk in wardrobe. The room has double doors leading to the balcony and views out to the sea. This bedroom has an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a king size bed, a large built in mirrored wardrobe containing hanging space, drawers and shelves. There is a sliding door leading onto the balcony.

In the living room there is a spiral staircase leading to the twin loft bedroom with its own private sun terrace and beautiful views of the pool, front garden and the sea.

A travel cot is available on request.

Towels and linen are provided.

Unfortunately the property is unsuitable for wheelchairs, as there are steps on both exits of the property. It may be suitable for those with limited mobility, please contact us before booking if you are unsure.

There is plenty of outside space for sun and shade including a patio with BBQ and dining area as well as somewhere to relax on the sun loungers with a good book to complete your holiday mood. Guests are welcome to explore the rest of the garden area containing fruit and olive trees, a pond and many wild flowers.

We have an above ground swimming pool approximately 10 meters by 5 meters and only 1.2 meters deep making it ideal for young swimmers. The patio area next to the pool means you can sit and relax whilst watching your family cool off in the pool knowing they are within sight.

On the side of the property is a large pergola to park your car under (invaluable in the hot summer months) and mounted on the roof are solar panels with which we aim to produce enough electricity for both this property and our log cabin (listed on this website under property number 1095155)

The Peloponnese is a rugged area with many mountains and unspoiled beaches. There are many tourist attractions nearby such as Ancient Olympia, the Corinthian canal, Ancient Messini, Epidavros, Monemvasia and Sparta. The hot springs and spa of Kaifes are nearby and day trips to the islands of Kefalonia and Zante are a short boat ride away. For golf lovers Costa Navarino Golf resort is about 40 minutes drive away.

The local area is ideal for walking and trekking with many tracks and paths leading to small chapels and churches..a step back in time.

The small town of Kyparissia is about 4km away and has all the amenities you will need for your stay. Tavernas, bars, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, chemists, butchers and many bakeries. There are the ruins of a Byzantine-Frankish castle in the upper/old part of town. The castle is free entry and has the most beautiful views of of the whole bay and town.

The stretch of coast between Kyparissia and Pyrgos has been untouched by tourism and has some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Peloponnese, including a 60 km stretch running from Kyparissia. On many of these beaches we have loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs and they can be seen swimming off the coast.

Kyparissia is about 3 hours drive from Athens airport,1 hour from Kalamata airport and 2 hours from Patras (Araxos) airport. Many European airlines operate including Easyjet, British Airways, Ryanair, Monarch and Olympic airways. Hire cars can be collected at the airports. If arriving by ferry from Italy the port of Patras is 2 hours away.

Wonderful Villa in a peaceful rural setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a superb two weeks at Villa Iremia. The Villa was beautiful, extremely well equipped and maintained. The gardens were much bigger than the webpage shows and were a Butterfly haven. There were Figs (including 'White' figs) and Grapes which we were invited to graze upon, a constant supply of fresh fruit. The views down to the sea and behind us up to the mountains, were exceptional. Rod and Bernadette welcomed us personally at the Villa (that's the first time we've ever met the Owners instead of an agent) and gave us a well practised tour. Thank you. We enjoyed the Taverna's at both Kalo Nero and Pilos regularly, but we must give a special mention to the local Taverna in Stasio. A short five minute walk away, it's a must! No menu and no prices. Vasillas just turns up at your table with a notepad and tells you what he's cooking that evening. Between the four of us we chose eight dishes, had three jugs of wine, water, bread, with watermelon and grapes at the end. He asked for 40 Euro's! We gave him a good tip and went back on two more occasions! One of the reasons for coming to this part of Greece was to see the Loggerhead Turtle breeding grounds. Well we saw hundreds of nests (2505 nests so far this year), an adult Turtle (1M long) swimming in the crystal clear waters of Kyparassia Harbour and we did the midnight walk with the Turtle rescue people at Kalo Nero, collecting up disorientated hatchlings to release elsewhere. They showed us six, so tiny and vulnerable. A lovely experience. There are so many other things to enthuse about, the Neda Waterfalls and the exhilarating drive down, snorkelling at Navarino in calm, clear conditions, the sulphur lakes at Kaiafas, the Lakes Kotihi and Lamia where we saw Dalmatian Pelicans, Flamingo's, Pygmy Cormorants and Collared Pratincoles, The Strofilias Pine forest where we saw colourful Bee-eaters flying, and Kyparassia Castle with stunning views over the town and the beaches north to Kalo Nero and beyond. The great thing with Villa Iremia is that you can be as busy or as lazy as you like. We had BBQ and pool days as regularly as venturing out. The roof terrace is an ideal spot to watch the local Buzzards and Eagles soaring during the day and watching for shooting stars at night, there is very little light pollution here at all. All in all, Villa Iremia is a wonderful holiday location and Rod & Bernadette were the perfect hosts. I see the previous eleven reviews have given it 5/5 Stars, make that twelve

Beautiful house in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at Iremia. The house is beautiful, and has everything we needed. The pool is a really good size for swimming or playing in with a great selection of inflatables - our children (10 and 13) absolutely loved it. The sunsets from the balcony every evening were amazing. We loved to watch the bats in the evening and the Swifts swooping around the pool during the day. The house is in a quiet and peaceful rural location but close enough to be easily accessible to the local towns and beaches. Rod and Bernadette are the perfect hosts. They met us on arrival and provided a lovely selection of food, fruit and drink to start us off and plenty of tips for the stay.

The area has plenty to offer, with lovely beaches close by, excellent village or beach Tavernas, castles, and archaeological sites further afield (including Olympia and Messene), both within an hours drive. There is plenty of information in the house about things to do locally. Overall we would thoroughly recommend Iremia and this part of the Peloponnese.

Thank You Rod and Bernadette

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a lovely review, we of course are biased, but glad you too loved the house and the area. We would love to welcome you back should you decide to travel to this area again and in fact are already taking bookings for next year. We continue finding places to visit even after all this time, and hope to share this with future guests. Thank you again. Bernadette and Rod

The property was excellent in a lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

The property was the best we have stayed in. Everything was provided to a high standard. The location was great if you like being away from the crowds but near enough for daily provisions. The pool and gardens are in a quiet rural area in the hills with fantastic views of both the sea and the mountains and great sunsets. we highly recommended Iremia for families who enjoy peaceful surroundings in a very comfortable house.

There are some great local excursions from the property, enough to keep all in the family entertained.

In summary everything was as stated in the advert and Bernadette and Rod were excellent hosts. We would highly recommend Iremia to family and friends.

A haven in the country

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week in Iremia with our three young children.

The house is very spacious and fantastically equipped. The little ones loved the (surprisingly large) pool which has great views of the sea and mountains. Our hosts were extremely helpful and attentive, and stay at the next door property should you need anything.

There are loads of things to do within an hour's drive (a car is a must) - beaches; picturesque villages; mountain scenery and hikes - so we were not close to running out of things to do. The scenery is lovely and very few other tourists around.

Overall, a wonderful rural retreat.

An Idyllic retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a blissful 2 week holiday at "Iremia". Everything about our stay was perfect: the villa was immaculate: beautifully decorated and furnished, with excellent facilities. Its location is stunning set in the foothills of spectacular mountains, with amazing views to the sea. This can all be appreciated from the large pool, big enough for adults to swim in seriously, whilst at the same time fantastic for children, as it is 1.2 m in depth. Bernadette and Rod have thoughtfully provided a great range of swimming pool toys which our 3 boys thoroughly enjoyed.

Bernadette and Rod were incredibly welcoming and very helpful and kind before and throughout our stay. On arrival we were generously provided with some supplies, including Bernadette's own gorgeous apricot jam.

As well as being a beautiful retreat "Iremia" provided a good base for visiting interesting sites, markets and wonderful beaches in the local area, as well as places further afield such as the ancient sites of Olympia, Mycenae and Epidavrus.

We would thoroughly recommend a holiday at the villa "Iremia"

Thank you Bernadette and Rod.

Location

From the Owner

We love to spend time in our house and enjoy our family and friends visits, but also like to rent it out.The area is great because its within easy reach of many beautiful beaches, has its own private garden and a mountain to climb for the adventureous. Built to high standards from natural materials sourced from Lithuania. Being 'Eco friendly' when we can we installed solar hot water heating (backed up by electricity for the odd sun less days in winter) and we produce enough of our own electricity to supply the log cabin and our own small bungalow. We are registered with the greek tourist board (number: 1249K91000341701)
