About Jane Henderson

We decided when we became of retirement age we would like to live here permanently and create a holiday retreat so that others might enjoy the wonderful surroundings in this area.

Jane Henderson purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Jane Henderson chose Indre-et-Loire

We instantly loved the Farm and its location and we could see the potential and challenge of renovating the buildings and bringing them back to life. We have spent all our holidays for the last 7 years working on the property to bring it into the present century whilst retaining the charm of the centuries old buildings.

The Farm sits in about 10 acres of land it is a tranquil setting surrounded woods and farmland.

We have had many friends and family visitors who have enjoyed their stays so much we thought we would like to share the experience with a wider audience. So hence here we are.

What makes this cottage unique

We are blessed with uninterrupted views that take in surrounding farm land, an abundance of wild life and the Chateau of the nearest village.

Because there is very little light pollution around the farm, on a clear night you can see the Milky Way in all its glory. The sunrises and sunsets are truly amazing.

The village is only 1km away so fresh croissants for breakfast in minutes! The immediate local and surrounding Loire Valley offers so much from cycling to cheese tasting, fishing and horse riding to vineyards and many Chateaux to visit.

Situated in the village are Tennis courts, swimming pool and playing fields.

The nearest Supermarket is about 15mins drive in Descarte. In the village of La Grand-Pressigny are all the basic amenities: Newsagent, Butcher, Patisserie, Spar, Post Office, Mairie, Pharmacy, Doctor, Bank with ATM plus a small Hotel, a couple of Bars and a small Restaurant.

The Michelin starred La Promenade is in the neighbouring village of Le Petite Pressigny.

Le Grand Pressigny also boasts its own Chateau and museum housing many architectural finds from the local area which is renowned for its prehistoric history and is well worth a visit.

Wonderful! 4.9/5 -
(14 traveller reviews)

A great place to relax.

  • 5 of 5

This is a gem of a place in a great location, very quiet and surrounded by fields but with most things you could need just a short car journey away. The cottage is nicely converted and very comfortable, with nice outdoor seating should you just wish to relax and enjoy the views. The main attractions of ' the Loire' are about an hour drive away although there are many places to visit within a very short distance. We had a wonderful week made even better by fantastic weather. Definitely a place we would like to return to.

The cottage was beautifully decorated, perfectly secluded and incredibly peaceful! We will be back!

From the moment we arrived at this amazing place to the second we left we felt welcome, relaxed and happy. The cottage was perfectly done, with everything you could possibly need. The area had so much going for it that a week was not long enough and Jane and David were so lovely. We loved every minute. If I had to describe my perfect week this would be it!

Lovely peaceful, relaxing cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week here. The cottage was very peaceful with every amenity we could have asked for. As well as some lovely, hot weather we also managed to coincide our stay with the Bastille Day celebrations where we met up with the owners and enjoyed the fireworks with the rest of the village - which, incidentally, - is very pretty. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Peaceful, pretty, beautifully renovated. Perfect for a couple.

  • 5 of 5

La Riffaudiere is a beautifully renovated cottage attached to a farm. David and Jane have a wonderful attention to detail and this is shown in the renovation and presentation of the cottage. It is very peaceful and quiet, with a secluded area at the front for breakfast, and an open decking out the back for drinks as the sun goes down. The village with its chateau, a few shops and a couple of bars and restaurants is a 20 minute walk away, but David and Jane have provided bicycles to make this easier! The village itself, like the cottage, is quiet and beautiful.

David and Jane are always available for recommendations and advice, but completely unobtrusive so the cottage feels entirely private.

The more popular chateaux and wine producing areas of the Loire are a 45 minute drive away. And for those in a more adventurous frame of mind the chateau under construction at Guedelon is a long but fascinating day trip.

Owner's Response: Hello again Very many thanks for your lovely and informative review. After your trip to Guedelon, we are planning to go there later on in the season. It looks fascinating from their website. For those reading this review it is about a 3 hour drive eastwards. Have a look at the BBC website who ran a documentary on the rebuilding using traditional medieval methods. All the best to you both and we hope to see you back here in the not too distant future. David and Jane

Picture postcard lovley. A great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cottage for a week in June 2016 and it did not disappoint. It is very well laid out and a fantastically quiet and comfortable place to stay. Jane and David have thought of everything from the supply of a amazing welcome pack, a good supply of wood for the log burner (there were a few cold nights in June!) and two bikes for guests' use. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and more! It was a very welcoming place to come back to at the end of day's exploration and both Jane and David were very helpful hosts whilst leaving us on to get on with our holiday. We particularly liked their production of a self guided tour of the area, which got us off to a great start and which demonstrates their attention to detail in making this a lovely holiday stay. Excellent place - loved it and we would both would definitely recommend a stay here.
