Something Special

It might have been the owners, it might have been the calm air of the property or it might just have been Woodstock itself, but my wife and I had a wonderful stay Above the Books. Smack in the heart of the town, you won’t need your car to enjoy exploring the shops , bars and restaurants and , although you’re at the centre of everything, the property provides a peaceful haven to escape to when you just need a break. Everything you need has been thought of by the owners and I can recommend this place highly.

Great jumping off spot for exploration

Bed was comfy and loved having the whole upstairs to ourselves. Appreciated the washer/dryer!! It would be so amazing if the curb appeal was freshened up. It would be darling with a good power washing and fresh paint. It was a great jumping off point for discovering the Catskills and doing a bit of hiking!

Hi. Our names are Jeff Cuiule and Audrey Cusson. In 2000, we left our lives and careers in NYC to purchase legendary Mirabai Books in Woodstock, NY -- a shop dedicated to Personal Growth, Eastern Philosophy, Metaphysics and Healing, an oasis of spiritual solace for more than 30 years.

A few years ago we transformed the space above the shop (our initial home here) into a vacation retreat that we call "Above the Books". It's our hope that the space reflects the serenity and lush beauty that we've created in the store below. Woodstock is unique among small towns in its dedication to the arts, alternative thought, natural beauty and spiritual fulfillment.
