Before you even step into the entrance of the shangri-la valley, you can smell the pungent sweetness of the lush melons, watermelons and plum trees.

The valley is alive with the song of birds and you can hear the rustling of small animals on either sides of the path to the grape trees terrace. Yet, the gardens are empty of people, you will be the only visitor to this paradise.

As you wander farther into the gardens of eden, sunlight becomes softer, filtered by the leaves of the ancient olive, fig and almond trees.

It proved a perfect combination - after a morning of ibiza yoga on the mandarin terrace or the lemon terrace, followed by a brunch in the shades of the big orange tree, nothing seemed more appealing than a trip to the beach.

The beaches:

• Cala san Vicente, a wide sandy beach, less then 5 min away (3.2km by car). There's always room for your kids to play or just to lay down and enjoy the sun.

• Cala ses caletes, one of those beaches hidden from mass tourism to enjoy sunbathing in full privacy (1.6km as the crow flies) or just 7min of your precious holiday time to find that peace and tranquillity also on the shores.

Even for die-hard swimmers and sunbathers, sometimes a day at the beach is anything but. You know the drill: too many people, too much noise, not nearly enough serenity to enjoy the majesty of blue skies and white-crested waves.

The good news is that there are still undiscovered beaches out there, blissful hideaways where tourism hasn’t yet eclipsed the local culture. Ses caletes is one of them.

Spacious and clean villa with great outside kitchen. But could be improved to make stay better

This is a nice villa. It's spacious and clean as the photos suggest.

However there a couple of things we found frustrating:

1.There is only minimal paving around the swimming pool. The rest of the outside area - where the outdoor table and sun beds are situated - have no paving so when you are walking barefoot you are walking on gravel. It would be so easy to pave the whole area and we feel the owner should invest to do so

2. The pool and sun beds don't get much afternoon sun due to a huge pine tree shading the area. Another reason to extend the outside area, as above.

Also while we were staying at the property we were told we would receive receive eggs and veggies from the allotment but this only happened twice in the two weeks. It turns out the owner was away on holiday but we hadn't been told this so we were expecting something that never came!!

We did however enjoy taking the kids into the orchard to pick fruit from the fruit trees and make our own orange juice.

On the plus side, the villa is very quiet and it isn't overlooked. There's also a big outdoor BBQ and kitchen. And it's only a short drive from Cala San Vincente which is a lovely place.

# FAQ: Q) Who carries out the property end cleaning + washing of linen&towels? A)The owner cannot offer this service, so a 3rd party Cleaning company provides this for you Q) Why are linen&towels not included in the Property End Cleaning? A) Time required to wash & iron all linen&towels for 2 people is much less compared to a group of 8. Cleaners are paid on an hourly basis, therefore more time means greater cost, hence the 20€/person for linen&towels. In essence “you only pay for what you use” Q) What is difference in total required cleaning (incl. linen&towels) time between 2 and 8 persons? A) ± 9,5hr for a couple and ± 16,5hr for a group of 8 Cleaning company rates are 14€/h+VAT Q) What about asking ONE high end cleaning price that includes linen&towels? A) The advertising price is set before any bookings are made, so the only way the cleaning company can avoid risk of losses, would be to ask the max. cleaning cost for 8 people= 16,5h x14€/h+VAT =279,51€ However, 279€ would only be fair to groups of 8 but would discriminate against all smaller groups, especially a couple. Q) Why not just include the cleaning cost in total rent? A) Tenants who rent for multiple weeks should not pay multiple times for END cleaning. Regardless if you rent for a week or 2 months, you only pay it once. Q) How about zero cleaning cost & ensuring tenants clean the property themselves before check-out?
