special and great vacation home
I traveled with four adolescents of varying ages and we had exceptional days at Casa Jessica. The house is in a great location. The laid back Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo is nearby but far enough away so that you can enjoy fantastic peace and quiet at night and only hear the crashing waves, nocturnal animals and the birds in the morning. The beach is stunning and wildlife such as sloths, night monkeys, iguanas and others can be seen right outside the door. In addition, there are two (!) gorgeous national parks nearby (Manzanillo and Cahuita). We were partly aware of the great location when booking, but the big and great surprise was the way the property manager David took care of us. David gave us a warm welcome and took care of any problem, whether something needed fixing or someone in our fairly diverse group had special requests. David is an unbelievably nice host and also provided us with a lot of valuable advice, explanations and suggestions, which helped to make our days in Casa Jessica an unforgettable experience. Thank you, David. We would definitely like to come back as soon as possible!

Location, location, location!
Casa Jessica is one of the best oceanfront properties in the greater Puerto Viejo area, no doubt! What a delight to be right on the water in the small "Barrio Organizado" community. Private (enough), little traffic, feet from the beach. Simply sublime. Our host, David, was excellent. A wonderful communicator before and during our stay. Full of really good information and helpful details on the area and what activities to do. He reached out to local contacts on our behalf, even arranging surfing lessons for one in our group. Plus, David is just a really nice, decent human being. Our group's disappointment was with the living quarters. The structure of the property is excellent, it has "good bones." But much about the property is outdated, from kitchen appliances to electrical connections, to water supply, to general cleanliness (kitchen, appliances, bathrooms, water supply, bed linens) to creaky wooden doors. In our opinion, the owner of the property would do well to update his investment with a general cleanup and uprade of the facilities. We left a few specific suggestions before we left but here are a few I remember: ditch the broken rice cooker and blender (and any other appliances) that don't work. Replace them. If a microwave oven isn't feasible, help the renters heat their food easily. Toss obsolete kitchen utensils and upgrade with newer and fewer items in the utensils drawar. Not sure the pressure cooker is the best largest pot in the 21st century. Stabilize the water supply. We gladly limited our water usage but we shouldn't have to limit showers to the extreme. Ensure all windows can be opened and screens function so that there can be some cross breeze (especially the bathrooms). Fix wooden doors that creak so loudly that sleep is disrupted. Replace lamps and light fixtures that are broken. Make sure a laundry line is easily available (we used the dog run line). Create a composting system that renters can feel is sustainable rather than just throwing it in the "jungle." The price point was reasonable, however, some of the negative aspects left us feeling like the owner needs to up his game to make vacationers feel "whole" while enjoying their stay in this beautiful Playa Negra location. Thank you so much, David. We hope you are able to work with the owner to take Casa Jessica to the next level. We're very happy to have met you!

Great stay in a beautiful environment
My family enjoyed our recent stay at Casa Jessica. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and we loved being surrounded by the rainforest while having the ocean in the front yard. The caretaker, David, was extremely nice and very helpful during our stay!! The drive to the house seems remote, but once you get there you appreciate how serene it is. It took a little getting used to not flushing tp and no AC. Also, it would have been nice to have had a few more towels during our stay. But overall, we recommend this beautiful home!

Excellent place
We had the most amazing and relaxing week at this gorgeous house. We loved the location and exclusive beach. Very cool house with all the necessary for a relaxed time with a family. David the property manager couldn’t have been more helpful. We arrived late at night and he met us half way on his bicycle so we don’t get lost. Everyday giving us advices on what to visit and all the cool town spots.

Mark this one a "Great" on the bucket list
Casa Jessica is a jungle and beach oasis. The property is beautiful and the beach is about 20 yards from the door step. We were a party of 8 and everything was prepped and ready for us to settle in when we arrived. We had a wonderful time and David (besides just being a great all around human being) was a great host and made us feel welcome and at home. Garry (the property owner) and his family were very warm and welcoming as well. They all helped us with transportation logistics, introduced us to some of the local folks and help us coordinate some of our Costa Rican Caribe excursions. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and made friends and lasting connections along the way. We will be returning to Casa Jessica again.
