A cosy home in a peaceful rural location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in this wonderful rural cottage. The welcome pack of cider and crepes was well received and we found that the cottage was so well equipped that it really was like being at home, as regards all mod cons, etc. The information and support provided by Stephen and Liz, before before and during our stay was second to none and I would not hesitate to visit this part of France and this cottage again in the future. This really is a beautiful part of Brittany: we really enjoyed exploring the granite coastline and the charming villages. I fear that another part of France, or even Brittany, may not be able to live up to the beauty of this region and that other holidays to France may not be as perfect as this one was.

Relaxing, comfy hideaway with plenty to do on the doorstep

  • 5 of 5

This property is one of the best houses we've rented in this area of France mainly due to the location, lovely gardens and spacious living areas. The open plan kitchen-diner-living area is ideal for preparing meals as a family with the door opening into the garden in nice weather or a fantastic large wood burning stove to enjoy on the cooler evenings while watching a film, From top to bottom it is hard to find fault with this splendid house which is clearly cared for, very well maintained and clean. The house is warm, has a lovely modern bathroom with two cosy bedrooms upstairs and one down stairs. Ideal for families.

Communications with Steve and Liz are easy and you'll even get a copy of the house info pack by e-mail so you'll feel straight at home on arrival if you spend a little time reading it on the journey to the house.

There are a lot of things to do in Brittany including visits to the coast (<30 mins drive) which are some of the most stunning beaches you'll find anywhere in Europe (okay, the water is cold but they are visually *perfect*). Brest, Quimper and St Malo are all easy day trips and lovely cities to visit. Brittany is a friendly area of France to visit where folk from the UK are made to feel most welcome.

Highly recommended for a top holiday and we hope to be back soon for another week here.

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage in a quiet location, but well situated for days out at the beach, in stunning towns, and in great tourist attractions. The cottage is spotless and there is everything you need. Smashing family holiday.

An excellent place inside and out- superb!

  • 5 of 5

We started smiling as soon as we arrived and grins broadened as we explored inside and out. The owners have continually thought about guests' comfort and needs and as a result the facilities are first class. The garden is a beautiful developed space and interestingly planted and we made good use of the built in BBQ and enjoyed the verandah too. The wifi connection was strong- essential for our mid teen ( and not unhelpful during the Trent Bridge test match!). All the information ahead of the visit and that provided in the cottage was clear, full and helpful- particularly good to have the local maps to support more back road travel. Facilities are excellent and in very good order and all is very well maintained. The owners clearly care about their guests and this also showed in the communication ahead of our visit. We had a really great time, would recommend the property to others without any hesitation or reservation and in the strongest terms. There is a lot to do within a 20 mile radius both coastal and inland, historic and natural attractions, e.g the River Trieux . We would be very happy to be going to the property again. Outstanding- thank you.

The area is known as the Pink Granite Coast and has spectacular views from coastal walks and drives. The beaches and harbours are beautiful (see photos) and there are plenty of opportunities at the sea to snorkel, hire paddle boats, sunbathe on the golden sands and enjoy the restaurants and cafes (including local internet cafes). Kayaks can by hired on the river Trieux (from Pontrieux) and can be paddled to the coast with guided assistance. Local scenery in the hamlet around the cottage can be explored either on foot or through local bike hire. Local markets are worth visiting (Pontrieux, Guingamp, Lannion etc.). Ancient churches and ruined abbeys are scattered around the unspoiled countryside. Tennis courts are located in Plouec du Trieux (3 miles away) and the cottage has tennis rackets and balls you can use.

St. Malo ferry terminal is 88 miles from the cottage.
