Tastefully Refurbished Apartment Combining Modern Amenities With Old World Charm

Charming two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in the centre of the old town of aix-en-provence. The apartment features a spacious and bright living room with exposed beams and fire-place. There is a separate dining room with a large oak table which seats six. The fully fitted kitchen was recently remodelled. The apartment has a flat screen television with a DVD player, wireless internet, and a telephone.

The large master bedroom has a queen sized bed, a sizeable built-in desk, and direct access to the roof terrace. The roof terrace offers a fantastic view over the roof-tops of aix, with mount sainte-victoire in the distance. There is a table, chairs and parasol set up on the terrace for al fresco dining. Completely private, it is a great little spot to sunbathe or enjoy a good book in the summertime. On the same level as the master bedroom is a bathroom with a tiled shower, toilet and hand wash basin. A washing machine and clothes closet are situated just outside the bathroom.

The second bedroom, which is downstairs next to the dining room, has a double bed, a large wardrobe, and an en-suite bathroom.

The apartment is located in the heart of the historic centre of aix-en-provence, making it an ideal base from which to visit all of the local tourist attractions, or simply to relax and enjoy life in the south of France. Access is easy, as shuttle buses run regularly from the centre of town to the Marseille airport and the aix TGV station.

Location, location, location

In the heart of Aix, this property has everything you need for a fabulous holiday. We stayed for 10 nights and used this as our base to explore Aix and Provence. There are 2 supermarkets nearby, Franprix is 5 mins walk and Monoprix is 10 mins walk. The owner Carolyn -who was great throughout - even has a shopping trolley to ease the burden. We shopped at the market most days, just a minute's walk away. There was a fabulous clothes market on the Saturday selling Italian linen clothes. We went swimming to piscine Yves Blanc which you can walk to very easily in 15 mins. We played ping pong and luxuriated in the outdoor solarium as well as swimming. You can book trips at the tourism office in town if you don't want to hire a car. We went to the Luberon to see the lavender at Sault and a wine tasting tour at Cassis, where we saw the French Riviera and Italy from the route de la Crete. I had my hair done at So One round the corner from the apartment and was pleased with the result. We also used the bakery downstairs to fetch pains au chocolat and our bread for the day. We went to the pizzeria below us, Davito's and to the restaurant further up Rue Boulegon La Famiglia too, both had good food and we are vegetarian. We walked up to Cezanne's studio which took just 15 minutes. It was interesting to find out that Cezanne's last house had been 23 Rue Boulegon, just a few doors down. We liked sitting up on the balcony watching Cezanne's mountain Mont St Victoire, turning different colours as the sun went down. This apartment is on 2 levels, it has bags of character and all that you need if you want to live like a local. We liked watching the street below, and liked the fact that you could hear someone play the piano, saxophone and one night we heard a tenor practising his chords. It wasn't noisy though and if you shut the windows you would hear nothing. It is a tall building, we were on the third and fourth floor of it, so you need to be able to get up stairs. I came home having lost weight due to the good food and healthy living! Oh, the last point is that it is easy to get here from Marseille airport, under 30 minutes on the shuttle bus to Aix which leaves every half hour. It cost around 8 euros per person each way. So this is a very do-able holiday if you don't want to spend the whole time driving. Enjoy!

Great apartment in a perfect location

We loved our all too short stay in Aix and this apartment was the perfect spot to enjoy it from. Its situation in the heart of old Aix means you have bars and restaurants on your doorstep, and churches, historical buildings and a daily farmers market no more than a few blocks away. Despite the buzzy vibe of the old city the apartment itself is quiet at night. It's spacious and comfortably and eclectically furnished, and we loved sitting outside on the private rooftop balcony for a drink or a read. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and our arrival and welcome hassle free.

Perfect in Everyway!!

Fantastic apartment, comfortable, roomy, perfectly equipped kitchen. We loved absolutely everything about this apartment. The living room is large and airy with a high ceiling and decorated so nicely. The beds were very comfortable and quite. The terrace we loved for morning coffee or evening wine. The location is so great we went to the vegtable market most everyday we stayed in town, it's so close almost around the corner. The flower market at Hotel de Ville is just a block away. Aix is a wonderful city, just the right size, for history, art, food, shopping, or just strolling around. The owner was very, very helpful before and during our stay. We hope to stay in this apartment again...it was PERFECT!

Our stay in Aix en Provence was so much fun! The apartment is in a great location in the old town. It was in easy walking distance to the train, bus, all the markets, to great restaurants, and activities. The apartment was spacious, and very comfortable. We were pleased with the ease of working with the owner and the representatives who contacted us. We would definitely recommend this apt to others.
