About this property

The Dungeness is a cozy two bedroom, one bath cottage overlooking Beverly Beach just north of Newport. Each bedroom has one queen bed and the home sleeps 4 comfortably. The bright, open floor plan affords fabulous ocean views from the living room and dining area and resident grey whales are a regular sight. The kitchen is well stocked and the cook also gets a spectacular view of the ocean! Stream your favorite media apps on the Smart TV; the cottage is ready for video conferencing with a recently updated modem and wifi router and the fastest speeds Spectrum has to offer.

If you prefer to venture outside to enjoy the view, the private back yard has ample seating and an outdoor hot tub. Enjoy s'mores over the stone fire pit or grill fresh salmon on the gas grill.

Beverly Beach is just a short walk down the hill and beach access is under the bridge at Spencer Creek. When you reach the beach, look left to see the Lighthouse at Yaquina Head. To the right is Otter Rock and just a mile's walk to surfing, Devil's Punch Bowl State Natural Area, and amazing tidepooling at the Marine Gardens. When you return, feel free to use the outdoor foot shower. You may notice glittering strings hanging outside the front door; they keep the barn swallows from nesting in the entry way so please leave them in place.

5-Star Coast Experience!!

We had an amazing experience staying at the Dungeness Beach House. The view of the ocean was beautiful from the house with several amazing beach spots within 5-10 minutes including Nye Beach, Yaquina Lighthouse and Devil’s Punch Bowl. The hot tub and heated bathroom floors were a nice addition when we returned from exploring the coast. This house definitely complements a 5-Star coast experience!

Oregon coast bliss!

What a wonderful place to enjoy the Oregon coast. Views from inside and outside both had fantastic ocean views at sunset. Having the hot tub and fire pit made every night enjoyable. Newport to the south and Depoe Bay to the north are both short drives and have a lot of good options. Whale watching from Rocky Creek State scenic viewpoint is also very close by. A small issue popped up during the stay and Devon was quick to respond and assist. My wife and I highly recommend staying here, we look forward to returning!

I am an Oregon native and U of O alum. Growing up, I spent much of my childhood visiting the central Oregon coast with my family. Life lead me to 25 years in the midwest (northeastern Illinois)--way too far from the ocean so I found a little cottage at the coast. I aspire to share my passion for marine biology and the sea with my family by spending time every summer visiting Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium, tide-pooling at the near by Marine Gardens, surfing, and endlessly wandering the beach. In 2019, we made the move back and are currently enjoying our pacific northwest lifestyle. 🌊 🌲 🏔

Why they chose this property

I originally purchased this property when my daughter was just one year old. I wanted her to have the opportunity to experience all that the pacific northwest coast has to offer as I did as a child. I chose the Dungeness because of its beautiful private view and yard, simplicity, character, and location to Newport and Beverly Beach State Park. It is one of the few locations where visitors can walk to the beach without having to navigate crossing Highway 101.

What makes this property unique

One of my favorite family traditions at the cottage is roasting s'mores on over a fire in the outdoor stone fire pit and watching the sunset from the deck or while I am making dinner. More often than not, a resident grey whale spout joins the amazing view. There is little light pollution after sunset and on clear summer nights we frequently are able to see shooting stars.
