Guest Access
Palm Island in the Grenadines is a small island one mile from Union Island, only accessible by boat. The boat ride is approximately 10 minutes.

This pristine tropical remote island has an area of 135 acres (0.55km2). It takes approximately 45 minutes to walk around the island.

It has a small resort and a few privately-owned villas. Serendipity is one of the few with a superb beach access literally right on the doorstep.

The beach and bay in front of Serendipity are perfect for kite surfers. There are also two kitesurfing schools on Union Island.

Despite the modest size of the island, it has some interesting walking trails, hilly lookout points, diverse range of birds and wildlife (Iguanas & Hermit Carbs).

As a great hideaway, the island does not have any stores. All stores are located at Union Island. Our housekeeper can assist with boat transfers, activities, and bring food and supplies. Food can also be ordered from Kingstown and usually received next day on Palm. We can also arrange to order ahead of your arrival.

Upon request, you can also access the local resort facilities - "Full Service" for meals, beverages, and facilities including Beach Bar & Restaurant, the Spa Salon and Boutique, gym, tennis courts and etc.

Interaction with guests

Our wonderful housekeeper, Christine, will come on Monday to Saturday between 8 am to 1 pm to manage your stay. Pool Maintenance will come every other 2-3 days.

Other things to note
-Guests can hire a cook part time or full time at a cost of $50-$60 Us per day

Dream home!! Best vacation in recent years.
This is an amazing property. Everything was top notch, and met or exceeded our expectations. Where to start? The owners reached out and helped us arrange for food to be delivered so we had rum, fruit and fresh bread when we arrived. The flight from California was long, but relatively painless and we were greeted in Barbados and Union with people who took care of us and made it easy, if not fun. The boat to Palm was a breeze, and Barrett (the grounds manager) met us at the dock with a golf cart. Christina (the house manager) met us at the house and showed us around. Throughout the week, they helped us with whatever we needed and made things that much easier. We arranged for a water taxi (for the week and Jude picked us up at the beach or on the dock within 30-40 min to go into town, etc. He arranged for lobsters for Christmas dinner, and ran us over to Happy Island on several occasions. Union Island is small, rustic and charming and we found the people warm and helpful if you engage with them. Serendipity - the house - was clean, well appointed and absolutely fantastic. I would not change a thing - it was perfect. The beach and location could not be better. Really - it is absolutely amazing. We kite boarded off the beach every day, read, relaxed and played dominoes. My kids (13) and (21) explored the island in the golf cart and enjoyed fishing off the rocks, feeding the turtles and counting iguanas. We rarely saw anyone on the beach or island and only ate at the resort three times. It is nice, but more expensive than I expected. The staff, however, was very friendly and accommodating, and it is worth a visit. We went diving, fishing and kiting and spent time with family in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I would move there if I could - not much more I can say. We were very lucky to have found it and thank Gary, Cheryl, Barrett and Christina for their hospitality.

About the host

Hosted by Gary Burns

Host profile image
We, Gary & Cheryl, bareboat sailed into Palm Is resorts in 1992 to buy water. We came ashore at the resort and fell in love with the beaches, the 85 deg F aquamarine ocean and the beautiful privacy of the island.
We purchased 325 feet of ocean, beachfront and over 3 years built Serendipity using a British engineer with local and imported trades.

We come to Palm every year-6 weeks in Nov/Dec and 6 weeks Mar/April. We have been coming more than 20 years. In 2017 we began renting Serendipity during the periods that we are not there- had over 90 rental nights in 2017.

Why they chose this property

Why this property? Simply, the location is beautiful, quiet and totally private. You can walk out the seaside doors onto a kilometer of gorgeous beach and step into the 85 deg F ocean.

What makes this property unique

There are many benefits to our place and Palm Is.Our covered pergola (porch)looks out over several islands in The Grenadines, including the world famous Tobago Cays Marine Sanctuary.. The sunsets are stunning.
Group or private day trips, BBQ's , snorkelling can be chartered on local boats. There is kite surfing in our bay or at schools on Union Is.
