About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6-8

Barjols is known as ' the city of the water’ for its 30 fountains. 'Les Belles Gardes' is situated 5 km from Barjols in a very quiet and charming landscape. The property, dominant on a hill surrounded by olive groves and pine woods, offers a splendid view of luxurious vegetation. The house, built in the pure provencal tradition and materials, has a neighbouring annex. The ground floor of the main house boasts a 40m square salon and dining-room (seats 10), a fully-equipped kitchen, a pantry and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs you will find a mezzanine study, 2 double bedrooms, a full bathroom and separate WC. The annex consists of a smaller double bedroom, a study and a cloakroom. Off the main house is a covered dining terrace with views of the beautiful 10m x 5m private salt-water swimming pool and surrounding countryside. On the 3 acres of land, there are oak, olive, fig and pear trees mixing with the perfumes of lavender, thyme, rosemary and laurel.

NOTE: Given the position of the house with its magnificent views, the access road to this property has 200m of a steep uneven track, which is not suitable for low sports cars or very timid drivers!

A lovely house with a great view!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at Les Belles Gardes and were very sorry to have left.

The house is big and cool in the hot weather and is very easy to live in and keep clean. It was very well maintained and having the cleaner come in after one week, was an added bonus and much appreciated. There was everything we needed and more in the house to make our holiday comfortable and easy.

We spent most of the time out on the terrace enjoying the fabulous view while sampling the local foods and wines. The kids loved the pool and spent hours splashing and having a great time.

The area is just lovely and the local markets are great, All the local sellers were also very friendly and helpful. The towns are gorgeous and very interesting and easy to get to by car.

The house is close to Barjols, easy to get to for those daily croissants and baguettes but is absolutely private and quiet, which is one of its main attractions, as well as that view - which is better in reality, than it appears in the photos!

The house manager did a great job. She was very helpful and friendly and she was always available if we had any problems. She helped make our stay very pleasant.

I would defintley come back here and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful Var Home

  • 5 of 5

My family has stayed here several times, and for good reason. We love the house and it's location. We feel we have ample room there, along with all amenities to make our stay comfortable and easy. The house itself if not far from Barjols, so it's quick to get into town, but removed enough to give you peace and quiet. The pool is an added bonus, as it's terraced into the lovely landscape to give you a view.

We always plan a couple of day trips from this house as well, as it's very easy to explore other parts of the Var and coastline from here.

Daily farmer's markets abound in the area as well, so mornings spent marketing are easy and great fun. Barjols itself has several dining options and a number of shops so quick errands are easily done. The town is worth checking out as well for it's abundance of fountains.

We are, as always, looking forward to our next visit back!

Absolutely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Les Belles Gardes for 2 weeks at the end of August and loved every minute of it. The house is well appointed with fantastic views, a real treat to eat your breakfast and look out across the landscape. The pool is a good size and very welcoming at the end of a hot day. The house is well looked after, we found it very clean and with all the amenities you could want during your holiday. If you want somewhere that is quiet and private, this is the place for you.

Barjols is a lovely village with lots of character boasting bars, restaurants and many traditional shops selling wonderful produce with a friendly atmosphere. We tried several of the restaurants and liked them all. It's also worth taking the tour of the fountains at your own leisure. We ventured out to Cotignac where there is a lively farmers market on a Tuesday morning selling more than just produce, it's well worth a visit. If you begin to miss the amenities of a bigger place there is Brignoles with more shops and a larger supermarket plus a few chain stores. We had wonderful weather throughout the whole of our stay and have no complaints at all.

The thing we miss the most..................the view! It really is quite breath taking.
