Beautiful gite in outstanding rural location.
The gite is a beautifully renovated 19th century ‘grange’ in a rural woodland setting with stunning mountain views. The D10 footpath passes near the gite from where there are routes to the mountain summit. Our stay was wonderfully peaceful . Mathieu was very helpful and we wish our French was good enough to express our thanks.

Memories that will last a lifetime ❤
We have just returned from an 8 night stay over New Year and we had such an amazing time! The chalet was beautiful.. so immaculate, clean and with lots of little amusements to keep our 2 young children happy. Whilst there was no snow locally, we still managed a couple of days skiing in the nearby Valley D'Aran on the Spanish side of the pyranees. Whilst incredibly remote, within the hour you would be back to busy civilisation.. just how we like it! Matthieu is the perfect host, very understanding and accommodating. We couldn't have enjoyed it more and we will definitely be visiting again as we all left a little of our hearts in portet d'aspet xxx

Wonderful cottage in amazing mountain location
We had a great stay at Matthieu’s lovely mountain home. It has been beautifuly renovated and is close to great walks and wild swimming opportunities. Matthieu was very welcoming and has made the cottage very cozy and relaxing. It was wonderful to look at the stars in the evening from the hot tub and experience a red stag coming to the garden.

Stunning location, great property
We had an amazing week in this property. It has all of the modern facilities you require (other than WiFi). It is very comfortable with amazing views and ideally situated on the edge of the Ariege region, with Luchon and Foix easily accessible going west or east respectively. Mathieu was a great host and provided us with everything we needed.

An excellent property in a very good location and
After an easy drive from Toulouse we were met at the property by Mathieu and his daughter Pauline who speaks excellent English. We were given a warm welcome and a comprehensive tour of the cottage and garden. All of the restoration work has been done by Mathieu who is obviously somewhat of a perfectionist as the quality of workmanship and attention to detail is excellent. The cottage is very well equipped and just about everything provided. Portet D'Aspet is a great place to stay if you're into walking, bird watching etc (we saw the first Lammergeier on the second day). There's lots of marked trails in the area with some stunning views of the higher mountains to the south. Local 1:25000 maps were provided at the cottage along with walking poles/sticks if required. An excellent view from the garden while chilling out on the sunbeds. Definitely one of the best of the many properties we've rented.
