Trieste Pet Friendly Villa Ideal For Active Holidays

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Dec-2016
3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Natural Setting Close To Beach

Il Roseto is a beautiful, modern villa in the most attractive area of Trieste, sitting in the woods, yet a mere 800 metre walk from the fully served village of Aurisina, home to multi award winning 'Bunker' Pub, a pizzeria, great Butcher, a scrumptious bakery, several cafes and wine producers selling their wine 'sfuso' - just take your empty bottle.

Il Roseto offers a very spacious, 240 square meter house, with a huge, fully fitted kitchen, a double, a twin and a single bedroom, two lounges (one with a double sofa bed), a large dining room, a full bathroom with bathtub and shower and another full one with shower enclosure.

Off the kitchen opens the most beautiful rose garden with a gate taking you straight into the woods. You can in fact start your treks right from the house garden.

The garden offers a pergola, table and chairs, a BBQ, sun umbrella.

The house was built in 1999 and furnished in 2011.

Il Roseto is one of several semi detached villas sharing a gated entrance, everything else is private - no shared areas. We have covered private parking for 2 cars.

Enjoy walking into the village through the woods in the morning (or along the road if you prefer) to get fresh cornetto or the more typical cakes like Pasta Carsolina, a millefeuille filled with the nicest custard cream, or the 'moving cake' Gibanica a slovenian cake made with poppy seeds, baked apples, ricotta cheese and nuts...

Aurisina offers a very well stocked family run supermarket, a chemist, bank, hairdresser, 3 bars, a pizzeria, a pub, newsagent, baker, butcher (with excellent meat). Nearby is a great fishmonger selling top quality local fish. 2 km away you can buy organic cow cheese and 3 km away you have an organic grocery store.

Aurisina is the most spectacular part of Trieste and certainly of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Sitting in wild and beautiful countryside yet a mere 10 minutes drive for the city centre, Aurisina offers beautiful landscape, a relaxed atmosphere of gentle people and deeply fascinating countryside in every season.

Carso is a limestone plateau sitting behind and above the city and its beautiful, unspoiled coast, running along the Slovenian border. Carso is dotted with small, picturesque stone villages, each with its piazza, its baker, wine producers, small restaurants and the famous Osmiza. Osmiza are the most traditional seasonal venues, actually simple country homes opening up their patios to the public where the owners serve their own wine and charcuteries. Locals spend here many sunny afternoons before or after a long walk in the Carso woods. The area is well know to all nature and sports lovers. People come here to climb, windsurf, cycle, mtb and trek. People also come here for the beautiful sea. Day trips to Slovenia, Croatia and Austria are possible, as well as day trips to Venice or to the nearby dolomite mountains.

Every season offers magnificent views and activities that can be enjoyed by travellers of all ages.

Trieste has a marvellous Opera theatre, Teatro Verdi, many literary cafes dating back to Austrian times, beautiful architecture, many beautiful churches, two castles. Being on the border, Trieste offers the possibility to visit duty free shops, designer outlets are a mere 20 minutes drive away in Palmanova, for those who enjoy the thrill of gambling, there are several Casinos within 20 km from the house.

Autumn here is beautiful for the colours - November especially is covered in Red foliage which contrasts with the the white cliffs over the blue of the sea...

We can organize informal, fun and educational days out at sea, on a mountain bike, walking, climbing, cooking classes. We love providing itineraries that you can do alone on a MTB, walking or driving to make your stay here truly wonderful.

Top Traveller Review

About the Manager

I grew up in Carso, Trieste and moved to the UK at the age of 19 to read Intellectual History at Sussex University, moving on to taking a PG Dip in TESOL from the University of London. In 2002 I came back to Italy where I started working as a tour manager on walking holidays. I now have my own tour operating company - I specialize in slow moving country holidays and garden trips.

I love being outdoors, either walking, cycling, sailing or working in my garden.

I am deeply in love with my Carso. I am selfishly happy that it is not well know and therefore unspoiled, but I feel that nature loving people will truly enjoy it.... It is not Tuscany, of course, but it is much more genuine and its beauty is subtler... can't wait to see the surprise on visitor's faces ;-)

Comfortable & well-equipped house, lovely garden

  • 5 of 5

Il Roseto is a comfortable, well equipped house. We loved the big airy kitchen and the interesting layout of the house. There was plenty of room for six of us. The garden was at its best while we were there with all the roses in bloom. It was lovely to have our meals outside in the garden.

It is conveniently situated, with easy access to Aurisina for local shops. There is a lot to do in the immediate area, from beaches to country walks and towns to explore. There is easy access to the motorway for visits to Slovenia and other interesting areas. If visiting Trieste, we recommend taking the ferry from Sistiana - much better than driving and it goes right to the centre of the city.

Erica was very helpful and friendly and on arrival walked with us to Aurisina. Nothing was too much trouble for her. We had a great two weeks at Il Roseto and would highly recommend it.

Charming House, Fantastic area, Wonderful Food and

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I spent a week here in early November 2013 with some friends. We had the most wonderful time, the house was warm and welcoming, the kitchen so well equipped we loved cooking together and eating in the charming lounge. Erica is a very friendly hostess, always at hand if you need suggestions or help of any sort. She took us to sample some local wines in the nearby village, we ended up buying several bottles to take back. Her suggestions of places to see and things to do were top notch and of great quality. She went out of her way to find a climbing instructor for one of us and took us on a long walk in the woods to enjoy the amazing autumn colors of this area. We really felt at home, being sure of getting the best everywhere we went. Thank you! and Keep up the good job!

Elegant and comfortable place!

  • 4 of 5

This is a very elegant and comfortable apartment. Very nice kitchen with everything you need. A small but nice garden where you also can eat. However nothing for wheelchairs. Local stores are very nice but a bit hard to find. The owner was very helpful with advices and support.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. The house, as clearly described in the advert, is not suitable for wheelchair users as it develops over several levels. About shops, we have produced a google map which clearly indicates where all shops are, there is also a little booklet in the house with addresses of shops, restaurants, nice things to see and do and plenty of local maps for walking and driving around.

Beautiful house with magic garden in great area.

  • 5 of 5

We have spent almost 10 days in IL Rosetto. House is very comfortable with mixed modern and old-stylish design, spacious and comfortable. The most important is beatiful garden where you can come stright from the kitchen. It's a perfect place to eat braakfast, have morning coffe or afternoon drink or just chill at the evening. The neighberhood is very quiet and friendly. It's a perfect place to rest away from crowded and nosiy turist resort. The house is located in a small and lazy village Aurisina and only 10 min. walk from great pizzeria PAM PAM. In surrounding you can find a lots of Osmicas (marked by olives wisps) where you can eat Prosciutto di Parma, salami, local cheese, olives and drink red or white wine among olive's trees. The coast is about 10 min driving by car. Between Trieste and Sistiana are plenty of small beaches. Each is different and has own climate but all are perfect for snorkeling as water is as clean that you can see in a few meters deep.

I highly recommend this to anyone who would like to rest and chill in beautiful neighborhood, away from crowded and noisy resort; feel the lazy atmosphere of small Italian villages, try local vines and food!

Perfect location to visit Trieste and Carso

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Il Roseto in October for the beautiful historical sailing race Barcolana.

We spent the week enjoying the sorroundings, visiting Miramare Castle, Duino castle, Sistiana bay, Trieste with its fascinating city center and the ancient Roman ruins, the amazing cave Grotta Gigante, the beautiful walks down the panoramic Rilke trail, Sentiero della Salvia and the Napoleonica road and touring around the Slovenian Karst.

There are plenty of activities to do in this area: amazing walks, wonderful bike routes, climbing cliffs, all with a breathtaking view overlooking the Trieste gulf or even into the inland region of Karst.

You can't miss to try Terrano and Malvasia wines, that you can taste and purchase visiting the several local wineries.

The local cusine offers Jota soup, Goulash, "Sardoni in savor", great fish and shellfish dishes and "Porzina con capuzi", while among the desserts you have to try "Creme carsoline" and Presniz, they are simply amazing!

The house is very cozy, spacious and neat.

It is a modern three story terraced house, with gated entrance and private covered parking (very safe!), and it is located in a quiet neighborhood.

It is beautifully decorated with a special atmosphere of love for nature.

My favourite spot in the house is the little garden with beautiful scented English roses and the patio with the lovely pergola, just outside the kitchen.

The best thing was going outside the garden gate and start our morning walks exploring the woods, leading into the vineyards and a military Austro-Hungarian graveyard dated back to World War I.

I certainly racommend Il Roseto to all who wants to discover Karst and Trieste and are active and in-love-with-nature people.

I am sure you will have a lot of fun here as we did!
