Family Holiday In A Peaceful Location On Lake Garda

Updated: 03-Oct-2016
Pretty 3 Bedroom Villa With Pool With Lake Views

Villa Barda is located in the hamlet of Albisano and enjoys magnificent views over Lake Garda. Private, spacious and modern, this villa lies on a sloping hillside with woodlands.

The last 200m of the access road is gravel and the driveway has a steep incline. The villa's private swimming pool is on a lower level overlooking fields and woodland. The only possible distraction is an occasional horseman along the mountain trail or hiker. Torri del Benaco, a picturesque lakeside resort town, is five minutes drive away.

Looking down from the front garden, one can see the rooftops of neighbouring cottages belonging to a hotel complex, approximately 50 metres away. Villa Barda, on higher ground, enjoys better views and a more peaceful setting.

The interiors are airy, bright and furnished for easy, relaxed living.

The upper level is accessed from the parking area via 17 stairs to the open plan living/dining room with two single sofabeds, fireplace, TV and CD player, and kitchen with stove top and oven. Doors open directly onto the garden with table and chairs where you can enjoy beautiful views.

The bedrooms have screened windows. One bedroom with queen size bed, one twin bedroom (beds can be made as a double), one bathroom with tub and shower and another bathroom with shower.

The lower level: a spiral staircase leads downstairs from the upper level. Here there is a large eat-in kitchen with stove top/oven, fridge, dishwasher and doors leading out to the pool area. One double bedroom and one bathroom with shower and washing machine. This lower level is accessible externally from the pool and the parking area; the kitchen and bathroom on this floor are ideal for pool users.

Facilities: internet (must be booked in advance and at extra cost), central heating, BBQ, garden furniture.

Swimming pool: 14m x 5m

Sleeps: 6+2

Distances: nearby hotel, shops and a pizzeria 500m away, Torri del Benaco 3km downhill.

Nearest beach (pebbly): 3km

Nearest golf course: 3km

Villa is very spacious but photo's on advert don't accurately reflect rooms. Stairs are a little dangerous for small children as they are spiral, broken and held together with duck tape. Pool was not maintained regularly and it was full of leaves and bugs on a regular basis. We were invaded by ants and no air con and not enough fans for all the rooms made for uncomfortable nights. The stair carpets are tatty and the toilet basin is not attached to the floor so in all desperately in need of some repairs and maintenance. Very disappointing for such an expensive holiday.

Owner's Response: Dear Ange , I am sorry to hear only now of your unhappiness at the villa, you spoke to us many times while there ,as you needed our help to organize a birthday cake. During the numerous conversations we had you never mentioned you had any problems of any kind. I have now spoken to the key holder , who you also saw during your stay, he also was surprised as you never mentioned any problems, only that you did not want to pay the cost of utilities, which are clearly stated on the price list and your booking voucher. As for the problems you list; Re the photos, I took those pictures myself, without using any special effects or lenses, the interiors are exactly as portrayed. In our description we clearly state that the stairs are spiral , I accept the carpet on the steps are in need of replacement and in fact as it is only a few steps, it has already been done. That said the stairs were not unsafe and you did not have young children, had you had them, prior to the booking we would have alerted parents of the stairs, even though they are correctly described. I spoke to the key holder about the leaves and small bugs on the surface of the pool- may I please remind you that during your stay, you unfortunately experienced several thunderstorms and windy conditions. The villa and its private pool is in the country side and it is unavoidable that leaves and insects fall in the water especially in bad weather conditions , hence we provide a net for guests. This is normal practice as even during the same day flies/ leaves fall in the water and it would be not realistic to expect an attendant on duty as it would intrude on the privacy of the villa. There is no infestation of ants in the house, but ants in the garden are normal in a countryside home. The villa is described accurately and we do not say there is air conditioning. The villa is one of the cheapest properties in the Lake area, nevertheless the key holder, wanted to make you happy re your complaint about the utilities charges and refunded you 175 euros. I am sorry you obviously did not enjoy the villa , I thank you for your comments and I can assure you we have taken the necessary steps to address/fix any relevant point made.

Lake views, quiet, near restaurants good pool

after 2 weeks at Villa Orta with the rest of family , we went to Lake Garda just us and our 2 children. Lake Garda is very different from Orta , there is a lot to do especially for young people. Villa Barda was quite near the Lake side, 10 minutes in the car and we were able to visit Gardaland , walk to the little town of Albisano with a few trattorias. The villa is good , with 3 bedrooms and a very nice and secluded pool. We also had nice lake views from the front patio where we usually had dinner.

I would go back there.

Nearest Airport : Verona Brescia at 50 Kilometres Nearest Golf : at 3 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Albisano at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Albisano at 0.5 Kilometres Car: necessary

Albisano, which is just above Torri del Benaco, is itself very quiet and peaceful, only a grocers, church, bar and gellateria.

Nearby Torri del Benaco which is closer to the Lake, Bardolino and Garda town, on the East side, enjoy a mild climate at the foot of the hills covered with orchards, olive groves and vineyards. The area is famous for its wines, and you may wish to sample some of these in the many restaurants and bars of the resort centre. Most of the streets are traffic free. The main squares have lots of cafes and there are occasional evening concerts here.
