Multiple issues with our stay...very disappointing

  • 1 of 5

We had several issues with this beautiful cabin, which was very disappointing:

- owner lives in Las Vegas and did not prep the cabin for our arrival. He claimed inclement weather, but we arrived just fine, so a cleaning crew could have, too.

- there were hundreds of black bugs everywhere inside, most of which were still alive! (Floors, counters, tubs, toilets, furniture, beds!) Had we not arrived so late in the day, we'd have just kept going and not stayed.

- no hot water for several hours.

- beer cans littering yard and deck.

- master slider to deck unusable due to blinds falling down repeatedly.

- master shower door off track.

- remotes to tvs and fans unusable due to dead batteries with no replacements.

- could not use fireplaces for fear of even more bugs coming in!

We spent two hours cleaning the cabin ourselves, which was not how we wanted to start our vacation. Bugs continued to fall from the ceiling our entire trip. They even fell on the counters and table as we ate, which was pretty horrible. We had to sweep and/or vacuum them up multiple times per day, and we could not leave anything open or uncovered b/c they fell into everything.

Luckily my husband is a pretty decent Jack-of-all-trades, so he acted as carpenter, electrician, and handy man in order to fix several issues, again, not how we wanted to spend our vacation.

Only after we complained did the owner mention that he was dealing with an ongoing bug infestation. Really? You are aware that you have an ongoing bug infestation problem, yet you do not tell us or warn us beforehand? And who, in good conscience, rents out a property with a known bug infestation in the first place?

The state of this cabin was completely unacceptable, extremely disappointing, and very unprofessional. We just wanted to tell our story in hopes that other families will not have a similar experience to ours.

Respectfully submitted,

The Whealan Family
