Comfortable stay!

We were greeted by the owner upon arrival and were given a tour of the apartment. She showed us the apartment and explained all of the details of the stay. A handbook for the house was provided which included information specific to the apartment(wi-fi passwords, netflix info, etc.) and the surrounding area. The layout was nice since there were six of us (adults) and we had plenty of room to relax when we were there. A grocery store and subway are in close proximity (4 blocks). There were many restaurants within walking distance. This was so much better than being in a crowded hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable, pretty and well situated

This apartment is visually attractive and was comfortable for our two couples. For NYC, it was quiet at night. The Harlem location was within 4 blocks of the subway, a couple more to Central Park and there were several nice restaurants within a short walk. The beds were good. Our only negative was that we couldn’t get one of the two showers to work. We will strongly consider returning here on our next visit to the city.

Owner's Response: Dear Guests. If we are not able to meet you personally and show around (due to late arrivals, usually) - there is a HouseBook in the apartment, in which you can find all answers to your questions! From transportation to grocery shopping, from local restaurants to how to operate a shower... I am also ALWAYS available to answer questions by phone, text or email. Sadly, but I never heard anything from these guests. Please do not keep your questions to yourselves, unless you prefer to suffer, of course, and then write a bad review. Amazing how it is possible to write a review about a shower w/o asking (or reading) why it could "not work"... In luxury top-notch apartments, like ours, everything, actually, works: showers, toilets, sinks, fridges, TVs, Netflix, WiFi, coffemakers, ovens, toasters, heat in winter and A/C in summer... Many thanks for reading!

Great location

Lovely brownstone with great access to Harlem highlights, Central Park and great restaurants. Our challenge was the cleaning person who not only stopped in every day but also arrived 30 minutes before we were supposed to check out. It certainly made finishing packing uncomfortable. Hopefully the owner will address this for the future. Make sure you double check all of the expenses at time of booking.

Owner's Response: I feel obligated to respond, as this is our first "3 star" review among tens of straight "5 star" reviews for all the years of renting. The reason given for such a poor review for the meticulously restored historic brownstone, pristine clean, with 12ft ceilings, old exposed brick walls, private English garden, huge marble bathrooms, 72" flat TV featuring Cable TV and Netflix, complimentary tea, coffee, chocolate, etc., etc. - is a 30 minute early arrival of my cleaning lady on a day of departure... Wow. For our future guests: please note that, as a courtesy for late departures, we always allow our guests to leave luggage in the apartment and enjoy the last day of New York! Therefore, my sincere apologies for having my cleaning lady to arrive 30 minutes before the check-out time, as in this case, she assumed the same situation. She knocked at the door and, since the guests were out at a breakfast (as they admitted to me in a private conversation), she assumed its OK to start cleaning. As for the “stopping every day” - I am really puzzled, as during the previous 6 years of cleaning of the house she has never done this. Hundreds of our guests gave me high marks about her personality and her job. Thanks for reading!

Beautiful property in great location

We stayed a week in this lovely house. It was very clean, comfortable and warm and fully equipped. It is in a great location, quiet but within walking distance of shops and good restaurants. Also close to subway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here thank you Julie.

2nd stay at my favorite NY home

I can't say enough nice things about this home. If I was a permanent NYC resident this is the place I would like to call home. Convenient location, quiet neighborhood, and trees in a private backyard garden. Historic brick walls soften what little street noise there is and more closet space than a part-time visitor would ever need. Having stayed in over a dozen NY rental homes - this is by far my favorite - highly recommended.
