Guestbook comments from the owner

The Sun it rose and warmed us; what a sight!

Its rays the fields they painted within a golden light!

The Roe deer browsing the hedgerow warming their flanks

almost as though they were giving thanks.

We sat and viewed such a glorious scene

from the lounge of one of the nicest places we have ever been.

The Old Dairy is such a peaceful, restful place

And Jane the host does welcome with such warmth and grace.

Our heartfelt thanks for such a lens from which to view

such a peaceful world as we reclined and enjoyed a brew!

A lovely poem for our guest book, thank you Chris and Ruth

Outstanding accommodation and friendly owners

  • 5 of 5

I cannot speak highly enough about this beautiful accommodation, it is everything we could of wished for. It was spotlessly clean and well-maintained and had everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. We had a warm welcome off the owner Jane and a lovely cream tea and biscuits on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for Jane.

We will return again very soon and have recommended to family and friends.

We visited Durdle door (take good pair of walking shoes and plenty of puff) as the climb back to the car-park is a tough one, we also visited Lyme Regis too, which was windy but beautiful. The Old Dairy is the perfect place to do nothing but relax, the area is quiet and the views are amazing when you wake up in the morning. I look forward to the next visit.

5 star luxury for reasonable prices.

A fantastic repeat experience!

  • 5 of 5

We loved it the first time when we came in March last year. It was just as lovely this time around too. Extremely comfortable, clean, spacious and very attractive. Our Dorset cream tea was delicious too. Jane has provided everything to make your stay really relaxing, the only thing she can't fix is the weather! The location is fabulous with so much to see and do in the local area.

The perfect place to lay your holiday hat!

  • 5 of 5

Jane Tidman, owner of The Old Dairy has designed and produced a wonderful property in which to spend a long weekend, week or even longer. All creature comforts are catered for but with an uncommon attention to detail. Jane welcomes her guests with homemade cake and scones and it is this welcome that will hint at how the rest of your stay will proceed. You will find that The Old Dairy is perfectly situated within walking distance of two fine pubs, The Red Lion and The Countryman Inn (that also do great food) and within a slightly longer walk of a local village shop from which to gather provisions.

The Old Dairy is situated within easy reach of some absolutely stunning locations, including Durdle Dor and Lullworth and is within reasonable driving times from such places as Lyme Regis and Stonehenge.

The Old Dairy itself is beautifully appointed and Jane affords her guests total privacy other than to welcome her guests and to wave them off post-stay.

The Old Dairy is not just a place to stay but instead becomes 'our' home for the week. Anyone who has stayed there will understand this but to others it may sound a bit strange that it almost feels like it 'belongs' to us for the week and we treat it with the utmost respect as shown to us by Jane who leaves it in our grateful hands for the duration.

We have visited twice so far, once in June and once in November and both times were equally as enjoyable. We will definitely be visiting The Old Dairy again as, I see by the visitors' book, most guests do. :)

We loved everything about The Old Dairy. It was extremely comfortable and in a fantastic location, no need for window coverings as there was no light pollution. It was beautifully equipped and had everything we needed to make a perfect stay. There is a pub within 10 minutes walk, so no need to take the car. We really enjoyed it and would definitely stay again if in this location. Loved the cream tea, thank you Jane.

Very impressed with The Old Dairy

  • 5 of 5

We loved every bit of our stay here - the immaculate property, the attention to detail with fresh scones, jam and clotted cream waiting for us on arrival and the wonderful area close to Lulworth Cove. Jane even went above and beyond when posting an item back to me, that I had left behind! The downside - only staying for 3 nights!

Lovely place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely few days at The Old Dairy. The property was down a nice country lane and was very secluded. Inside the property was lovely and comfortable with stunning views through the huge window. The location was ideal for lots of local attractions like Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World as well as many we didn't have time to visit. Jane made us very welcome and the welcome cream tea was very much appreciated!

Dorset, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and the Purbecks

With its clean air, sweeping coastal paths, breath-taking views and snug little villages The Old Dairy is a perfect location for a holiday. The local town of Dorchester is teeming with restaurants and shops to explore, Dorset is a county hard to beat.

Dorset is famous for its beautiful coastline, the Jurassic Coast, which features landforms such as Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Kimmeridge. The Isles of Purbeck and Portland along with Chesil Beach and Lyme Regis are all within easy reach.

Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are a mere 3.5 miles away. As part of Dorset's Jurassic Coast they form a stunning stretch of 200 million-year-old shoreline that has been designated a Natural World Heritage Site due to its extraordinary geological make-up. This coupled with the charming countryside Dorset has to offer makes this county an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There is more to Dorset than just fabulous rural scenery – the more urban towns of Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth offer sandy beaches and harbours renowned for their water sports, bustling town centres with restaurants, cafes, art galleries and theatres.

Dorset is steeped in history and is the setting of the novels of Thomas Hardy, who was born near the county town of Dorchester. Local historic attractions also include Castles in nearby Lulworth and Corfe with the iron age Hill Fort of Maiden Castle situated on the outskirts of Dorchester.

The location of The Old Dairy is ideal for those that wish to explore. There are plenty of Coastal, Forest and Heathland walks or cycle tracks within easy reach. The Old Dairy has an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna on its doorstep.

Winfrith Newburgh has a friendly village store and post office along with three welcoming pubs nearby. It is just three miles from the Jurassic Coast, eight miles from the county town of Dorchester and 18 miles from the popular towns of Poole and Bournemouth.

Dorset is home to a wealth of attractions; Corfe Castle, Monkey World, Blue Pool, the Tank Museum, the Cerne Abbas Giant, Swanage Railway, Sherborne Abbey, Portland Bill, Fly- Fishing in Tolpuddle and a whole lot more.

There are many coves and beaches along the Dorset coast - a World Heritage site. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are just 3.5 miles away and Studland Bay which is renowned for its wonderful beaches is a 30 minute car ride.

The unspoilt countryside, dramatic coastline and spectacular historic sites make our county truly memorable for a winter or summer holiday.
