Château de Rouvignac is a magnificent mansion in the Languedoc.

Updated: 04-Apr-2016
5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms for a maximum of 8 people.

Château de Rouvignac is a magnificent family house nested in a large park. The site has been inhabited since Roman times and the actual house presents a unique and classic architecture. The place is quiet in a greenness setting. The South Wing is entirely devoted to a Gîte de Charme with large rooms, which have been renovated with authenticity (250 M2 and high ceilings). There is a large terrace facing south all furbished to have meals, with a greenhouse and B.B.Q. The swimming pool is secured and shared with the hosts. There is lot of space for children to play soccer, petanque and tennis-table.

Rouvignac is located near Béziers and it's easy to reach by motorway, TGV or Low Cost airlines. Weather is superb most of the time and not too windy. Your hosts will be Guy and Constance de Saint Victor who will be happy to give you the practical information about the region, and the nicest spots to visit. You will just feel at home in a friendship environment...and lots of sun.

Majestic landmark in the heart of Languedoc

  • 5 of 5

The house is a magnificent, eccentric combination of antiquities and majestic spaces. The grounds are huge and great for children. Dogs, donkeys and a horse enhance the countryside experience. Guy is a great, non-intrusive host who speaks perfect English. Good pool. Well equipped, although small kitchen. Bedrooms and bathrooms charming and functional. Location very convenient, short 2 km walk to nearest village with small shops, 15 minute drive to Beziers.

The most wonderful place on earth

  • 5 of 5

When we saw the photos on the Website, we thought this must be a fake. But when we arrived we couldn't believe that this place is much more beautiful than these photos. We stayed here, two families, and it was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are great. The view is great. The pool is great. The owners are extremely nice. I still don't understand why I left this place. It's paradise on earth.

You have well used your time with us by discovering the area and there is a lot more to see. Très bel endroit

  • 5 of 5

Exceptional place

  • 5 of 5

We have now stayed 3 times at Chateau de Rouvignac in the past 6 years and it remains a fantastic experience. Constance and Guy (the owners) are adorable and do all they can to make you feel at home in their little - well not so little actually - piece of paradise. Our children (12, 11, 7 and 4) love to play in the 2ha large parc/garden and in the large pool. There is plenty of space in the Chateau and the rooms, although having all modern amenities, transpire authenticity and gives one the impression that time stopped 50 years ago. Rouvignac is great for relaxing amidst the "grillons" and vinyards, but it is also a perfect basis for sightseeing around. There is a lot of culture to be found in the vicinity (the Romans and Cathars were there), Molière lived in Pesenas and Carcassonne is not far away. For those who prefer nature, there are many tracks & paths for walks and there is a big natural reserve some kilometers north. The beach, (and Guy can tell you the best spots to go to) is only ten - fifteen minutes away by car.

There is a bakery and several supermarkets only 2 - 3 miles down the road, so catering is easy too. Guy and Constance also willingly share their secrets about the finest restaurants in the neighbourhood. For those who need to check their emails regularly : no problem, there is Wifi upstairs. In the 4 weeks we have spent there in total we maybe had 2 days of intermittent rain. All other days, it was sunny and warm. We will sure return visit our friends Guy and Constance and stay at their perfect holiday rental !

Owner's Response: Many thanks for yr lovely message and we are happy that you have enjoyed so much the region and the house. We have been working hard teh past 20 years to renovate this family chateau and we were happy to share this with you. And of course when the temperature is nicely hot, it always make the glass of fresh rosé wine looking like the ultimate pleasure :) Nice to hear from you again and we hope to see you soon. Amitiés Guy et Constance

Château de Rouvignac

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Château de Rouvignac in 2011 and can only recommend the place, especially to the parents with children. We enjoyed time outside in the wonderful park and swimming in the pool. Children can watch horses and donkeys. Interiors are very elegant; you have a lot of space. The beach is about 20 minutes by car; you can visit Carcassonne, Beziers, Montpellier and the other nice places. The owners speak English fluently and give tips.

Château de Rouvignac

  • 5 of 5

A charming place to stay in the South wing of a Chateau steeped in history, comfortable and interesting but maybe not the place for you if you do not like dogs as the owner who lives in another part of the chateau has two reasonably friendly dogs.

The accommodation is well placed to explore the South West of France: the beaches, sites and national park with all its attractions.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would recommend this place.

Château de Rouvignac is located North-West of Béziers, near the Orb river, in between two villages right in the middle of vineyards. It's away from the crowd and close to the Cévennes with magnificent and wild landscapes. The beaches are 20 min drive and there are historical sites to visit, not to mention the Canal du Midi. Great choice of out-doors to experiences such as canoeing and mountain walking.

For those interested in wines they can visit wineries or experience fine dining (special suggestions from the hosts).

From May to September local festivals are organised and lots of entertainments can be chosen.

Antique shopping and Brocantes are numbered in Pézenas, Béziers, Narbonne and also in small villages. And for the fun you can get your fresh oysters, direct from the producer, in the nearby village along with a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet or go to typical open markets. Rouvignac is also close to 'Low Cost Airports', easy to reach by car with TGV nearby.
