Beautiful, spacious 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with separate WC, providing comfortable and modern accommodation for up to 4 people in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town.

The apartment is equipped with modern furnishings and fittings within a building of great character. The apartment is accessed through a secure common entrance into a private lobby. The apartment is on the first floor of the building and the accommodation is situated over 2 floors - the open plan living room and kitchen, with a toilet and wash hand basin situated off, are on the lower floor, and the double bedroom and en suite (shower, wash hand basin and toilet) are located on the upper floor accessed by a narrow staircase. The living area had a double sofa bed and dining table, chairs and sofas to seat 4. The bedroom provides ample drawers and hanging space.

Good location, lots of space, well equipped

The apartment had all the amenities, a well equipped kitchen, space to relax, good utilities including a bathroom heater, plenty of hanging and drawer space for clothing, a washer, plenty of electrical outlets, basic good staples, plus a welcome package of shortbread from Heather! Would definitely stay here again, and it has space for more than two.

Ideal!

Heather's place is the perfect location for checking out Edinburgh. The apartment itself was clean, well supplied, and the two floor set-up is nice for alone time when needed. A plus was the small sink and toilet downstairs.

Beautiful Apartment

The apartment was in a great location in the old town. 6 min walk from Waverley train station. Easy walking distance to airport bus. Great location for all Museums, Castle and galleries. Everything in the apartment to make it like your home away from home. Warm and quiet, lovely and clean. Tesco supermarket around the corner so we cooked every night we stayed. Nice to have a home meal. Owner met us on arrival, very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Great apartment in fantastic location

It's only a 10-15 minute walk from just about everything in Edinburgh city centre, considerably less for a lot of it - making the location ideal.

The apartment is well furnished, allowing us to eat in for several meals during our stay to save some money.

We were very comfortable during our short stay and would definitely consider staying here again if we came back to Edinburgh.

Everything we required...enough facilities and privacy in equal measure for the three of us.

Fantastic location close to the old town yet (on the whole) surprisingly quiet. The building has been converted to multiple apartments but retains the charm of the original school - entering throug the 'Boys' entrance is amusing. Fairly well buffeted from external noise...just the occasional tyres over cobbles, but being right in the centre of town you are subjected to other residents returning at 3 or 4 am and tramping up the stairs through the building. Unfortunately for us one inebriated resident lost his keys and spent 30mins beating the communal door down at 4am on our first night. Prepared to overlook that as I'm sure it's not a common occurrence, and the rest of our weekend was delightful. Friendly Italian restaurant right at the end of the street too...convenient when you've been out exploring all day and just want a convenient location for dinner.

Our visit was a return to Edinburgh for my parents after 40 years, so a real punt on location, but we'd be hard pressed to have chosen better than this. A nice, reassuring touch was to be welcomed on arrival by the owner too. The apartment itself is simply decorated, tastefully modern and totally adequate, and the welcome gift was appreciated!

The apartment is situated in a newly refurbished 19th Century Schoolhouse on Drummond Street, located in the popular Old Town which has a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants.

This is an ideal position for the Festival Theatre, the National Museum of Scotland, the Pleasance and numerous Festival and 'Fringe' venues.

Waverley train station and the Royal Mile, with Edinburgh Castle at the top and Holyrood Palace at the bottom are also within a 10 minute walk, along with the famous Greyfriars Bobby and the Grassmarket.

Various Art Galleries, Arthur's Seat, Princes Street and the Royal Commonwealth Pool are also within easy walking distance.

For rugby international weekends, buses (nos. 48 and 31) can be taken from North Bridge, just a few minutes walk from the apartment, directly to Murrayfield Stadium.

Transport links are excellent, with the apartment close to several main bus routes which access most areas of the city and beyond. Waverley Train Station which links you to the rest of Scotland is a short walk. Train journey times to Glasgow, host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games are approximately 55 minutes and depart every half hour. The city bypass and motorway networks can be accessed easily by car.
