The master suite, level with the spacious dining room, living room and modern, fully equipped and re-furbished kitchen allows apartment style living, with two further double bedrooms and a den suitable for sleeping, on the lower level. The living room opens onto the veranda, overlooking the elegant 14' by 24' pool, unspoiled beach and ocean. Songs of the sea, picturesque views, strong but not overpowering breezes blow away the cobwebs and refresh the mind. Tan on the pool deck, which now has a permanent sun shade, wander tranquil hills and peaceful beaches, cast a line & collect treasures of the sea on the quiet beach beyond the gate. Enjoy the party atmosphere of nearby English Harbour, star-spot at celebrity get-away St James's Club, or simply enjoy the astral cinema from the verandah by night. Walled round, with monitored security system, lights and safe - for peace of mind.

Before you arrive:: Please contact the owners with your specific enquiries. For best maintained cars, we at Willoughby recommend J&R Rentals. You should also request owner's hand-drawn route and written directions from airport to Willoughby to ensure you end up on the right side of Willoughby Bay, but J&R Rentals will assist new guests in their journey from the airport to the villa.

On arrival, you will find your Welcome Hamper, grocery items chosen by you for your arrival snack.

We're pleased to reserve you a table at a local restaurant. On the other hand, at Willoughby you may use the phone to make all your bookings at no extra charge. Wifi is also complimentary.

The photo above is of Jean Michael standing in the TV area in Willoughby villa. I was born in Trinidad of an Antiguan mother and a Dominican father, grew up in England, spent 10 years in Germany, returned to England and emigrated to Antigua with Rolston in 1995. Rolston (I'll put up a picture of him later) is born of Antiguan mother and father. Our parents grew up together and met up again in Trinidad. During the years between UK and Antigua, they kept in touch - good friends forever.

Worst Experience with HomeAway Ever!!

My girlfriends and I came back from 4nights vacation on 11/24/16. We are 40s, matured/divorced women who utilize HomeAway often. This was our second time visit to Antigua. Here are the facts why we wouldn't recommend this house for other vacation house hunters:

-According to the house owner, there is no address for the house. They sent us a hand drawing map(!!) and a direction note just one day before of our arrival date. When we arrived at the airport, we were stopped and questioned by an immigration officer 'why we don't have the address to stay'. They asked us the same question over and over. We needed to explain and show the hand drawing map. The same thing happened at the rental car office. Finally, we could rent a car, but it was dark outside due to our flight was delayed. Driving on the rural roads in the dark without satellite navigation was very tough. As a result, it took us 2hrs to get the house from the airport. If you plan to rent a car, this house is not for you.

-We found garbage from the former guests in the trash bin at the kitchen. There was also a died roach in the pan placed under kitchen cabinet. (we closed the door right away!) You can tell how clean the kitchen was..

-The fridge was smelly and the doors were broken so that we needed to use a broom to press hold the doors after every time use.

-The first floor smelled like sewage and moldy. Therefore we didn't use other 2 bedrooms on the first floor after Day2. Instead, three of us slept in the master bed room like a dormitory house..oh boy..

-Last but not least, the house is 3bed room/3 baths+one den which can accommodate 8people. Our original plan was visiting there by 2 people. But the third person decided to join the trip from Japan since the house has plenty of rooms. After our arrival and while we were enjoying the beach, the owner emailed me saying that she didn't know the guest was 3 not 2, so she will not return our security deposit. If I didn't notify of the change from 3 to 4 people, I don't blame the owner since it was a 3 bed room house. However, there are plenty of rooms there, also it is a slow season and there was no such notice written in the website at the booking (price was nightly rate NOT per guest). Taking our security deposit away without our consensus is too one way and totally not fair. We're extremely upset and we feel sorry that some owners maybe too greedy about $$ against tourists. Owner's Response: In the past, my husband and I have enjoyed our guests. We found them pleasant and honest. On this occasion, we found our guests not to be honest. Their enquiry was for two travelers, three travelers arrived. When in previous years guest numbers increased after the booking was made, guests have contacted us to announce an additional guest. As a rule, all financial negotiations were completed before the arrival of guests; monies have normally been paid in advance. However, these ladies became upset when advised that the third payment was outstanding. Since the low season was drawing to a close, we were offering a discount, which I applied to the third guest also initially. However, these travelers had no intention of paying for the third guest at all, because they said the house was big enough and could sleep up to eight people. That was their stance, and they insisted on paying no more than the price for two people. It is a shame that our villa has no house number. Antigua & Barbuda has not quite caught up with the rest of the world in certain rural areas. The car rental company we recommend will meet our house guests at the airport, accompany them to the villa and sign contracts there. The process is quick and efficient. Sadly, these guests were determined to rent a car at the airport. They had not traveled with our contract (in fact, they refused even to look at it). On their way to the villa, the ladies stopped at a petrol station, where the manager knew me well. He gave them instructions how to get to our villa. Even then, it took the guests over an hour to reach the area. An American sounding gentleman met the ladies once they had arrived to within 300 yards of the villa. He know the area, but the ladies took a very long time finding us, even though the property lies on the main road, and I was waiting in front of it. This has been a bitter experience. When the guests realized that we wished them to pay for the third person, they found all sorts of ugly things to say. Thankfully, former guests have been more honest and more gracious. We look forward to meeting the charming people, who have already booked for the months to come.

Fantastic

I can't say enough nice things about this place and the owners (Jean & Rolston Michael). We sat and talked with Jean & Rolston a few times and found them to very friendly, extremely helpful, and doing everything possible to make our stay on Antigua most enjoyable. The location is perfect if you want to be in the Southern area of the island which was nice and quiet compared to downtown St. John's. The was villa more than we expected from the pictures. The pool was clean, warm and plenty big enough for the 4 of us. Perhaps the best thing is the view from the upstairs balcony out towards the ocean and sky whether it be in the morning, afternoon or evening. Plenty of room in the bedrooms and everywhere in the Villa. We would return to this villa on another visit to Antigua!

Beautiful villa , Great views , Hidden Gem

Myself and family of 7 stayed at villa willoughby at the end of july/august 2016, our annual family holiday to antigua. We have stayed at various locations in antigua but Willoughby Villa has to be one of the best.

We met Rolston at the property on arrival who gave us the walk round of the house , letting us know where things are etc , walking into that lounge/dinning room and seeing that view was magical. We met Jean later on .

Both are fantastic people who gave us lots of tips , what taxi people to use , where nearest shops where etc.Great hosts

The house is a beautiful house more than enough space for my family of 7, bedrooms are all big enough for large groups without being overcrowded and kitchen very well equipped.The pool, oh the pool , i spent most of my early mornings and late eveings in that beautiful pool . Fantastic fresh water pool.

Overall myself and my family spent a fantastic 2 week holiday at Willoughby Villa , great views , great house , great hosts .

Downside, i didnt buy the red velvet cake , lol

Looking forward to return very soon.

So sorry about the TV issues, but you were the second set of guests, who had no intention of watching TV. Only after you left did we discover that there was no issue with the TV itself - it's perfect - there was a problem with the CTV box, which was quickly rectified. Fabulous property, warm hospitality

We stayed at the property for two weeks at the end of May 2016. The view from the balcony of the swimming pool and the shimmering ocean in the background is even more stunning than the pictures show. Combine that with swaying palm trees, chirping birds, cooling ocean breeze, and you have paradise. We had regular visitors every morning and afternoon. Two birds had built their nest nearby and would come in to pick up any tidbits for their little ones. The property is very peaceful.

Our hosts Jean and Rolston are very caring and hospitable. They were in touch regularly to ensure everything was going well.

The only thing that caught us off guard was that there was no Dryer. But there are clothes pins provided and the strong breeze dried off our clothes in no time.

All in all, we loved the place and the rates are very reasonable given the gorgeous view, location, living space, and comfort you get – and the hospitality.

I would hands-down, recommend this place.

Beautiful Villa, superb views and helpful hosts.

We stayed at Willoughby at the end of May 2015 as our friends were getting married at the nearby St James club which was fully booked.

Willoughby is a secret gem of a place in Antigua, The house is impeccably clean. The views are stunning and the pool is amazing. The house is very secure and you feel safe, there were only two of us and I was happy to pop out whilst my wife stayed in the house. The pool is fantastic Rolston the owner informed us of the new system that he had put in and it is amazing, it does not use chlorine so non stinging eyes or bad skin. Our friends who stayed nearby said the pool was better than any of those on their resort.

The owners Rolston and Jean are lovely people and very helpful, they are great ambassadors for their Island and I think their pride and attention shows through in Willoughby. They also recommended Egen at J&R rentals for car hire, I would say car hire is a necessity at Willoughby, particularly in off peak season. We hired a 4x4 and Egen will collect you form the airport which is good after a long flight.

All in all a great holiday, Jean did say to me that she thought Willoughby was not advertised enough, I agree, we do feel like we found an amazing 'secret' place in Antigua and will certainly be back!

Hidden Gem in a perfect Location

We have been visiting Antigua since 2006 and rented several villas this is the best so far and here are the reasons why. The location is perfect if you want privacy it perfect there is a house next door but out of the 13 nights I saw gentleman twice from a distance. Ok the villa has a magnet called the balcony once out there it's hard to leave the views of the ocean is breathtaking with the bonus of the breeze which is wonderful it keeps cool during the day and is nice and cool in the evening the breeze also keeps the mosquitoes away not one bite at all in the time we were there. The pool is brilliant very good size with a new salt systems that makes it own chlorine and leaves the skin moist and soft not dried out which normally happens with most pools.To have your own garden that leads the the Atlantic Ocean is something we dream of if you fancy some early morning fishing. We were more than pleased we the villa and felt very safe with the security system which again gives you peace of mind I cannot say enough about the Villa we will be booking again because we feel it's everything we have been looking for. We met one of the owners and agree with previous reviews a charming and wonderful gentlemen who is just a phone all away. Fantastic Location, Villa, views & Pool. If you really want to Benefit the hire of a little boat would put the icing on a perfect holiday.

You can trust Willoughby; we built it with local tradesmen. Rolston bought the land at a time when Antiguans were not buying seaside land. Willoughby Bay does not flood; even during hurricanes, the high water mark is well below the level of the house, so you will be quite safe.

It is across the bay from Crossroads Drugs Rehab Centre, founded by Eric Clapton. Top restaurant The Hideout is within walking distance of Willoughby. Peaceful Willoughby Bay - ideal for walking, angling, wind-surfing, snorkelling, beach combing & watching the wildlife. 'Nowhere is far' as they say in Antigua; in 1/2 hr you can be at the golf course. A 10 min. drive to English Harbour reveals a world of shopping, water-sports & exciting night-life, esp. in high season. Learn to sail at the Yacht Club; visit the romantic setting of Nelson’s Dockyard & other famous historic sites. Enjoy local popular music? Shirley Heights is the place with steel pan and reggae. The capital St John’s, 25 mins. drive away, has a wealth of shopping and restaurant facilities. It's a 30 min. drive to the airport.
