Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom apartment with free WiFi in the heart of Dorsoduro

Perfectly situated between the Salute and the Accademia, Ca Venetia has undergone a complete renovation turning this traditional Venetian building into a beautiful modern retreat. It has two spacious bedrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen with dining area. Set on the first floor, access is gained through a shared hallway and stair case.

On arrival, the apartment is easy to reach. From Marco Polo Airport, the Alilaguna Blue Line will take you to Zattere, which is a very short walk from the front door. If you arrive at the Piazzale Roma or the railway station, it is very simple to take a Vaporetto to Accademia, which is also a very short walk from the apartment.

San Marco, Rialto and all of the major sites in Venice are within easy walking distance. Dorsoduro itself is a very lovely area - full of interesting shops and atmospheric squares, it is less crowded than the very busy centre and is quiet at night. However, a ten-minute walk from the apartment gets you to Campo San Barnaba or Campo Santa Margherita, where you will find plenty of lively bars and restaurants.

The Peggy Guggenheim Gallery is a five minute walk away, and of course the Accademia is also very close; there are several galleries and art shops in the area. The university is also in this part of town, so there is no shortage of bookshops.

There are two supermarkets within easy walking distance - one at the end of the Zattere and another in Campo Santa Margherita. A floating greengrocer can be found in Campo San Barnaba, and you can buy very good fresh fish from a stall in Campo Santa Margherita in the mornings.

The master bedroom has a beautiful wooden double bed ideal for a romantic night in; the second bedroom has twin single beds. Both bedrooms are fitted with mosquito nets at the windows and the apartment has central heating and air conditioning.

The sitting room has a comfortable sofa for relaxing after a long day sightseeing. It has a flatscreen TV, DVD player and iPod/iPhone dock. There is also free WiFi.

The Kitchen is well appointed and includes a full size dish washer and washing machine, a microwave, fridge freezer and coffee machine. There are plenty of things for chopping, slicing, sieving and cooking!

The Bathroom has a full size bath with shower, toilet, basin and bidet.

Ca' Venetia has been carefully restored with the aim of providing relaxation, comfort and practicality. It is in a fantastic location and we hope that it will provide an excellent base for your perfect Venetian experience.

The rental cost includes all cleaning, but there is an additional fee for 'meet and greet' which is payable in cash directly to the person who meets you, shows you the apartment, explains how everything works, and issues you with your keys. This fee is currently 43EUR between 10.00 and 19.30, and 61EUR between 19.30 and 23.30. This is standard practice in Venice. The greeter will also ask you for your card details to act as a security deposit when you arrive. We also ask guests to sign a short-term contract which we will email you as soon as you book.

If the dates you have enquired about are available we will hold them for you exclusively for 48 hours. I after this time you have not booked the dates are booked on a first come first served basis. Your booking is not secure until payment has been received.

Beautiful and excellently equipped flat

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few days at this lovely flat during August and found it to be extremely comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need for a self catering city break. The flat is excellently situated near to the Salute and Accademia, within easy walking distance of San Marco and the Rialto, and also very convenient for the vaporetto to get you further afield. The owners are very lovely and approachable. We would recommend anyone to stay here.

Good quality property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Venice so we have nothing to compare with, but the other couple staying with us have visited Venice several times and they said that this was one of the best properties they had stayed in. Generally a bit bigger and more comfortable than most, but the real benefit is the location in Academia. Close to the main bridge across the Grand Canal and also close to Zatterre. It's easy to get around on foot from this location.

The mosquito's were annoying but with so much water around that's to be expected.

Venice was great.

Fantastic location for families or couples!!!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing apartment. We are a family of 4 but we didn't travel with our boys this time! I can tell you as a mother this apartment is perfect for families. As you walk though your front door you are in the basement where you can leave bikes and prams then up to the 1st floor you have an apartment with everything you need to make a home for the week. The washing machine came in handy and the kitchen has everything you need to cook a decent meal.

For us the location was the key, you are near the locals and only 2 min walk to the Acadamia Bridge. The Giudecca Canal is right behind the apartment and offers some of the best restaurants in Venice. We loved the La Calcina mains for under 20€ and it's the best food you've ever tasted!! You can walk to anywhere in Venice from the apartment just cross the Acadamia Bridge and get lost in the never ending streets!!!

Another thing about the location of this apartment is it has its own Gondola stop that is really quiet in the morning and the evening.

If you are planning a trip to Venice I would say this apartment is perfect for its location and size.

Great location, nice place

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this rental for two nights. It is in a great location to easily arrive and depart, near good restaurants and less crowded areas to stroll in the evening, near a supermarket and very easy walk to the main sites. The apartment is spacious, (4 people were very comfortable) nicely appointed and has everything one needs although the air conditioner is not sufficient to cool the bedrooms in the evening in summer. There is a fan in one room but it is so low power it was not helpful. The water pressure in the shower is very low as well, pretty much a trickle. Perhaps a new shower hose/head would help as the water pressure in the kitchen was fine. I did find communication with the owner to be a little slow compared to the other 3 property owners we rented from on our Italy Adventure but I got all information needed when I had to have it. The person who met us to check us in was very nice and full of good, helpful information. I would stay in this apartment again during the cooler months of the year.

Nice Space and Location but Some Added Attention Necessary

  • 3 of 5

There were many things we liked about this rental property, and a few things that we did not. First, the location was great, as it is very close to the Academia stop, which is a really nice area of Venice. The management company was extremely responsive in meeting us and gave us a great orientation. The apartment was nice as well. While there is no views at all, the apartment was roomy enough especially for Venice.

It was unexpectedly hot in Venice during our stay in June (in the 90s F), so this part probably doesn't really apply unless one is staying in July or August. However, the apartment was very hot upon our arrival. Thankfully there is a portable AC unit and a fan, but the AC is sufficient to cool only one room, and the fan in the hot apartment is sufficient only to move around warm air. Additionally, while we had clearly stated numerous times that we were arriving with five people, the space was prepared only for four, with no bedding for the fifth. The management company acknowledged this as an oversight, but was not able to provide the bedding until the next day. Additionally, the management company stated that there was an additional amount that was required to cover the management fee. We stated that we were not comfortable paying it because we had believed that we had paid all the fees up front through VRBO. There was nothing else said about it - so that was a little strange. Finally, checkout was at 11am. We went out for breakfast, and came back at 10:50 to find the cleaning lady already in the apartment. Not a big deal, but since it was made such a big deal to be out by 11am, the same consideration was expected regarding the early entry and because we had specifically told the management company we would be there until 11am.

Overall, I think this is a nice place and if some details could be worked out with the management company along with an extra AC unit, this would have been a far better experience.

Dorsoduro has the benefit of being a quiet area of Venice within very easy reach of all the principal attractions. The apartment is within a few minutes' walk of the beautiful church of the Salute, The Academia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Nearby are the lively squares of San Barnaba and Santa Margarita. St Mark's Square can be reached on foot within twenty minutes, as can the Rialto Bridge.

Dorsoduro has plenty to offer in terms of bars and restaurants and there is a supermarket within easy walking distance of Ca' Venetia if you feel like eating in.

The famous Zattere promenade is less than two minutes walk away, and this offers incredible views over the Guidecca Canal, often with sensational sunsets.
