"Bela Vista,the name says it all"

Fantastic view,stayed only 5 nights but i wish i could stay more. The owners are very helpfull,supplied fresh fruits from the garden,gave me same tips about what to do around. The house has got everything you need,good wifi connection, little road makes the house very private and calm. Supermarket and restaurants 5 minutes away by car. good starting spot to explore the island. wiil be back and for sure recommend to anyone.

Disappointing

Firstly the positives: the splendid view over the village and the sea from the terrace, a clean and (for two persons) quite spacious property all on one level, ample towels and linen, a good wifi connection, a welcoming posy of flowers and lots of the owners' own locally grown fruit presented every week. However the property could have won us over if only it were better equipped: too few kitchen utensils - e.g. only three (blunt) kitchen knives, no scissors or tin opener - and an oven and hob which even the owner couldn't remember how to work when we eventually had to go upstairs to seek assistance. (An instruction leaflet would have helped.) It will be noted that there is no photograph of the bathroom - perhaps because it is too small and poky, with the only available standing room being restricted to a small mat no bigger than 90 x 45 cm and the toilet basin being positioned too close to both the wash basin and the door thus hindering easy use of either. The weather at the end of January/beginning of February was often grey, windy and chilly and the single small mobile radiator was insufficient to warm us on some evenings so we finally had to ask for a second, which just about sufficed. The house therefore often felt and smelled damp and it was difficult to dry towels and washing indoors. The television is advertised as including international stations but we couldn't find any up-to-date British programmes. We doubt whether, in the height of the mid-summer sun, there would be enough shade for four persons given just the one sunshade and no other shade but four sunlovers may be disappointed to find only two loungers and a small patch of grass. The photos of the outside of the property suggest the garden and driveway are much larger than they actually are; the garden needed weeding. Note that the lane to the house is extremely steep (1:3 in places and quite narrow); whilst a hire car is essential, a small model is advised and anyone walking directly from the house needs to be fit!

Bel endroit

L'endroit et magnifique et reposant. Assez facile d'accès pour se rendre à peu près dans toute l'île. Malheureusement nous n'avons pas pu profitez de la terrasse le temps étant plutôt pluvieux tout au long de notre séjour. L'espace à vivre est très agréable et dispose de tout ce qui est nécessaire. Les propriétaires nous avaient laissé un chauffage. Çà a été très utile pour sécher serviettes et vêtements mouillés. Du coup le seul point négatif en rapport avec le temps pluvieux que nous avons eu c'est l'humidité dans la maison, particulièrement dans la chambre du fond avec les 2 lits.

Merci pour cette belle semaine passée chez vous , description et photos conforment à la réalité . Merci à Jorges , José et Paola de leur accueil chaleureux , de leurs bons conseils et belles adresses de restaurants , visites et randos .Nous nous sommes sentis tout de suite chez nous dans cette maison face à la mer sur les hauteurs de calheta , rien ne manque . Belle maison pour passer d excellentes vacances dans le calme . Deux couples de français

A little jewel in the heart of Arc da Calhetta

The views from this Bella Vista are absolutely stunning and even in February it was great to have breakfast on the verandah in the warm morning sunshine watching the kestrels going about their daily hunting. Jose and Paula were most hospitable with Jose taking us to the nearest supermarket and restaurant on our arrival. Later in the week Paula share with us some of her home made cakes. The property in located for the best sunshine on the island (south west) and is about 40 mins from Funchal. During our week's stay we managed to visit the whole of the perimeter of the island, Fuchal twice and did a long walk by the levadas in the mountains. Overall, a highly recommended stay.
