Lucca is located in a strategic position to visit Tuscany, both by car and by public transport.
It is characterised by its many churches (St. Michael, St. Martin, St. Frediano ..) squares (Piazza Napoleone, Amphitheater, Piazza San Frediano ..) and its monuments, plus the surrounding countryside, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that make it an attractive.landscape. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=84kFROr8Eq4
The most famous villas of Lucca can be reached easily by car and represent the pearl of our territory (Torrigiani villa, Villa Grabau, Villa Mansi ...).
In the area of Monte Carlo, a typical medieval village, there are numerous wineries that offer tastings and sell their own wines.
At just twenty minutes away are the beaches of Verisilia. In addition to Viareggio, famous for its carnival, Forte dei Marmi is a Mecca for lovers of shopping and nightlife.
Those who prefer to relax and want to get away from the bustle of the city, Montecatini offers spas.
The art cities of Pisa (17km) and Florence (75 km) are a must for anyone staying in Tuscany.
By car or by train you can easily reach Portofino and the Cinque Terre in Liguria, characterized by ancient villages perched high above the sea and which represent one of the most beautiful natural sites in the world.
In the month of July, the "Lucca Summer Festival", one of the most important international music festivals in Italy.

We are an Italian family who lives in Lucca. During the summer we spend time in our house in the countryside where we produce wine and oil. We love dogs and we own a jack Russell called Emma.
We love travelling and cycling.
Lavinia purchased this apartment in 2013
The apartment with an ideal location to stay in Lucca: car park 100 meters only 5 € daily, railway station 200 meters, station bus200 meters, 1 km from the exit / entrance of the highway, 5 minutes walk to be in the city center.
We arrived by train from Pisa airport, turned left as we left the station walked a few hundred meters to be met at the property by the owners mother Renata and her husband. Across the road we could see the walled old city of Lucca. A quick tour of the very well presented property and some helpful local information from Renata and we were ready to explore but not before a cup of tea and a generous slice of the home made cake Renata had brought as a welcoming gift. (there was also a free bottle of wine from their own vineyard which we would enjoy later).
Everything you could need for your stay is within walking distance even a local Avis car hire was just 10 minutes away.
I would recommend this property to anyone seeking comfortable quality accommodation there are 3 flights of stairs to consider but this is good for helping to offset the pizza, pasta and gelato you will be tempted to consume.
The real test is would we go back? The answer is yes,
We traveled for two months with our 2 daughters (9 and 12) through Portugal, Italy, France and the UK, and stayed in 7 different rentals. Appartamento Emma was one of the very best.
Renata and her husband met us on day 1 with a delicious cake, a bottle of wine and every bit of information we could possibly need. The apartment itself is incredibly well outfitted—more so than many of the places that we stayed in that were actually people's primary residences. We also loved the location. It's literally across the street from the walls, so parking is easy but you can get into the old city in a minute.
Rent this apartment. You won't regret it.
The apartment is comfortable and very well equipped. The location just outside the old town wall is very convenient (quite noisy in morning rush hour).
We were met on arrival by Renata who welcomed us warmly with a delicious cake and wine from the family vineyard.
From the moment we arrived to Apartment Emma we could tell we were going to have a great stay. We were greeted on arrival by Renta who had set out a lovely welcome gift of wine and orange cake which did not last too long with two boys aged 14 and 11.
Our stay also coincided with the Rolling Stones Concert and the apartment was located in the concert venue which required a lot of security passes which our host tirelessly organised for us so we could tour the town with ease. Nothing was too much trouble.
The apartment itself is a two minute walk to the old town. It is modern, tastefully decorated and has everything you need for a great stay. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms excellent and living spaces abundant.
Both Renata and Lavian were excellent to deal with and we would recommend this apartment for anyone wanting to visit Lucca.
Apartment Emma is a perfect home base from which to explore Tuscany. Its a short 5 minute walk to get within the city walls of Lucca and easy driving (or train) access to Pisa, Florence, the Cinque Terre or other delightful towns in the area. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and so convenient for a family. We enjoyed the ability to make breakfast (the kitchen is well equipped) or have a snack without having to always frequent a restaurant. Also appreciated the washer to do laundry onsite as we arrived after 5 days elsewhere in Italy!
The apartment owners are very responsive to any issues that may occur. Thank you also Renata for the wonderful cake and bottle of wine- was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to explore Lucca and the surrounding area.

We had a lovely stay at Apartment Emma. Perfect location just outside the walled city nearby the bus and train stations. On arrival Renata greeted us with a lovely lemon cake and a bottle of wine. Maps and restaurant recommendations and bus timetables all supplied. The decor was beautiful and the kitchen had everything you need, also very handy having two shower rooms. Lucca was a lovely town and a good location for day trips to Florence, Pisa etc. Renata was a great host and very helpful indeed. Would recommend this property and would love to return some day 😀?
