Masia dels Molineros is a hidden pearl, situated within walking distance of the village and only 3,5 km. From the beaches of Costa Daurada. The house sleeps comfortably 5 persons in two double rooms and a single room.

The house originates from the 18. Century but has recently been reformed. It is situated on the mountain side with the village on the other side of a small stream, making its way between the village and the house. The property is very private, as the large garden is used for a small plantation of olive- and fruit trees, where you, in the season, can pick your own lemons and oranges. You can also find many cosy corners to relax.

As most authentic houses, the house has a cosy structure, with many levels. In the lower level, directly connected with the outdoor terrace and the pool area, you find two areas for dining, and one of them also with a sofa corner and TV. In addition, to make use of the old fire place, a gas-grill for big paellas has been installed. Two steps up is the kitchen, which is very well-equipped and connected to the outside by a second door.

The outdoor terrace in connection with the swimming pool is really the big quality of this house. Here you can relax either by the terrace table or in the chill-out area in the shade, while the children are entertained in the swimming pool. The swimming pool is very nice for a refreshing dip, and additionally, in one side there is underwater seating, so you can sit in the pool with your drink or perhaps a glass of Cava on the edge.

On the lower floor of the house, you find the only bathroom, which has two wash-basins and shower.

The bedrooms are situated on the first floor. A connecting room is equipped with one bed and can serve as a single room if necessary. From here, there is also access to a very nice terrace with a wonderful view to the Mediterranean sea in the distance. There is also access to the two spacious double rooms, one with double bed, and the other with two single beds.

The second floor is one big mufti-purpose room, which can be used as living room or additional sleeping capacity, as there is a sofa bed and two fold-out beds. In the summer, it can be a bit hot under the roof, but if you open the windows, the sea breeze will help getting the temperature down. In this room, there is a television as well.

Outside, in the level below the swimming pool, few steps down, a stairway lead you to the private olive- and fruit grove, which you can enjoy from the covered terrace with barbecue , where you can enjoy the sunset over the village. It is amazing that a place so close to a village and to the beach can be so disconnected.

In the village, which is within 10 minutes walking distance, you find several restaurants and all you need for shopping, supermarket, bakery etc. There are several cafés with WIFI Internet, are also sports-facilities such as football and paddle tennis. There is a shuttle bus to the beaches, as an alternative to drive down yourself.

Directly from the house, is it possible to make a walk up to the top of the mountain, where you have a fantastic view all the way to Tarragona.

The beaches are less than 4 km. From the house, so if you like a day on the beach as part of your holiday, Masia dels Molineros is ideal. You can also drive to the wine districts Penedés or Priorat, the historical city of Tarragona or the amusement park universal studios port Aventura. The fantastic city of Barcelona can be reached within one hour in car, or you can park in Sant Vincent de Calders, where you have frequent trains to Barcelona.

Could be great but really let down by some basics

Good points:

The property is spacious and could comfortably fit 6 people (though there is only one bathroom). It is well equipped with electrical equipment including a dishwasher, a washing machine, 2 up to date televisions, WIFI and a music system.

The property is convenient for the local town (only 10 minutes walk from centre and supermarket) and 10 minutes to the local beach by car.

It is pleasantly situated and has a reasonable outlook ( interrupted by train lines) and you are able to see the sea in the distance.

There is lots of some crockery, but not enough of others.

The villa is clean and well stocked with cleaning products for your use.

Bad points:

1. We found it unusual that there was no information booklet in the villa and as such we were clueless as to where to leave the rubbish, what to recycle, opening times of shops etc etc.

2. We were handed 13 keys to the property, with no indication of which key unlocked which door. A colour coded system in an information booklet could solve this. Plus a can of WD40 to in the cupboard to prevent keys from getting stuck in the locks and the locks opening smoothly every time.

3. Having a cup to drink coffee from that was not chipped in several places. Ikea sell tough non offensive, not expensive replacements.

4. Bins, there were two bins in the whole property: one in the kitchen with no lid and a small flip top bin in the bathroom. How much does it cost to replace a plastic bin?

5. The pool is positioned at the bottom of the driveway and as such it collects the debris blown down the drive. We were more than happy to fish out leaves etc. from the pool, but we were rather concerned that there seemed to be no-one checking chemicals, removing dirt from the bottom of the pool or green algae collecting around the edges.

6. We found the property uncomfortably hot and stuffy at night despite shutting the shutters during the day and opening everything up at night to try to get a breeze going through the house. A simple electric fan in each bedroom would help this.

In the roman time, the town was called Tarraco and was province capitol of Hispania Tarraconensis.

From the artistic point of view, there are not many places that have such a large number of monuments and tourist attractions concentrated in such a small area as Tarragona has. Iberian civilization remains are plentiful in the whole region, as well as multiple Roman vestiges, especially in Tarragona city, where you can follow the traces of Rome in the Catalonian region.

The splendorous past of the city is enclosed in its several well preserved edifices. Its most notable landmarks and tourist attractions are the Roman Amphitheater in Tarragona and the Cistercian monastery in Poblet, as well as many other places of interest within the capital city, just to mention some examples. Reus, home town of the internationally famous Gaudí, is nowadays a center for Modernism architecture, a kind of art also to be found in many wine cellars through the whole Tarragona province.

Cultural events

The International Dixieland Festival takes place every year just before Easter. In the first week of July, is held in the bay Punta del Miracle a firework competition between six invited pyrotechnics. In the middle of September, the Santa Tecla Festival takes place, one of the biggest traditional Spanish festivals.

Costa Daurada

The Costa Daurada shoreline is comprised of a total of 13 municipalities, which, over a stretch of 92 kilometers, offer some sixty different beaches in all shapes and sizes from the small, secluded coves of Mont-roig del Camp-Miami Platja to the dramatic cliffs of Torredembarra, from the high-iodine waters of El Vendrell-Coma-ruga to the fine sand and clear shallows of Salou. There are even nudist beaches, such as Torn Beach in Hospitalet de l'Infant.

Several Costa Daurada beaches have been awarded the blue flag by the European Foundation for Environmental Education, in addition to other distinctions, such as that earned by Creixell from the same organization for its wheelchair-accessible beach or the Ecoplayas Award for clean and sustainable beaches and ISO 14001 environmental management system certification earned by the beaches of Calafell. The towns of Calafell, Salou and Cambrils have moreover been officially certified as family tourism destinations by the Catalan government.

Universal studios Port Aventura

The areas main attraction is the entertainment park Universal Studios Port Aventura. It consists of an aqua park and an amusement park, which can be visited together or separately. If you let the kids decide, you can easily spend 2-3 days here.
