Far from the madding crowd, set down its own private leafy driveway nestled in 8 acres of fields and woodland. Peace & Tranquility can be found at the old cottage which dates back to the early Victorian age and is full of charm and character. It has an open fire, oil fired central heating, and has a warm home from home feel. The cottage has a large 5' bed, and romantic eves with skylights to gaze upon the stars. A large deep bath with shower attachment is on the ground floor, with a small toilet/wash basin upstairs. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer and washing machine available. A table and chairs overlooking the fields for breakfast, or a private garden with a fire pit and sun loungers to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, but still close to all amenities. Just the place to unwind.
The cottage is completely self contained with plenty of parking. Weekly rentals or short breaks in the winter.
Dogs are allowed, (2 maximum) but owners rules must be followed as there is livestock on the land. A fee of £5 per dog for 2 nights & £10 per dog for a week. Owners must be responsible for picking up and disposing of bag into bin at the top of the drive. No dogs are to be left in the cottage on their own at any time, and not allowed on furniture or upstairs.
The fresh smell of the sea, and the waves crashing on the beach (when the wind is in the right direction) add to the atmosphere of this unique little gem.
The cottage is cool in summer and warm and cosy in the winter. A log fire is available, and logs can be purchased from the owner.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped and tea towels, oven gloves, washing up liquid, tea and coffee & sugar provided. Complementary milk in the fridge for that much wanted cup of tea on arrival.
I am more than happy to put food supplies away in the fridge/freezer if a home delivery is requested.
I supply 2 toilet rolls in both bathroom and upstairs toilet, together with towels.
The bedroom has low eaves, but a very comfortable king size bed with fresh linen and duvet provided. The windows in the roof allow you to star gaze, and have black out blinds if so required.
I am very happy to suggest places of interest or good pubs/restaurants in the area.
If privacy is required this is the place for you.
I live in the cottage opposite with my dogs Molly and Toby. I am here if you need help or advice or can give you complete privacy.
I have 4 pet sheep which are my lawnmowers, all named after herbs. Now some 11 years are a little plump and showing signs of old age. - bit like me!!
Hilary Webster purchased this cottage in 2000
Grooms is small and cosy, the perfect place to unwind from the everyday stresses and strains. Couples love to return after spending their honeymoons here. Many guests say they have never been in such a quiet location, and often oversleep. Your dogs (max.2) pref small are allowed at an extra cost of £5 per dog for 2 days and £10 per pet for the week. Contact owner for more details. Owner has a pet owners do's and don'ts list in the cottage.
The location of the property is unique, and guests love to see all the wild life and the total peace that this cottage has to offer.
My guest books tell the story of how much these holidays have been enjoyed over the past 12 years that this has been a holiday property.
I hope you will come and enjoy it for yourself.
Situated down its own private driveway, with plenty of parking. Comfortable chairs outside the cottage to enjoy a glass of wine before walking up the drive to the local pub - the Elm Tree. Excellent fresh food cooked to order. Well known for its local fish and local sourced produce.
The cottage is situated in its own little micro climate, and benefits from being in the folds of the valley where it is very sheltered.
The pet sheep graze in front of the Lounge window, and the birds and wildlife are in abundance.
Me and my fiancé loved our weekend break staying at the cottage. In a great location to travel around the beautiful Jurassic coast, the cottage is tucked away, cosy, private and home from home! Hilary was also very attentive to ensure we were happy with everything and let us know that she was there if we needed any assistance. We highly recommend.
The cottage has everything you need for your stay. The owner is friendly and helpful. Situated in a peaceful area, Langton Herring village and local pub only a short walk away, very picturesque area. Lots of interesting places to visit, Monkey World, the Swannery-the young had recently hatched close to the walkways, Abbotsbury village has lovely tea rooms and interesting shops especially Dansel Gallery which specialises in contemporary woodwork. Lots of local walks to explore.
Certainly peaceful and away from it all. The owner was very helpul and did all she could to make our stay comfortable. Little extras for our arrival were much appreciated. This was a Winter stay and it took a while to warm up, once there it was nice and cosy.
If there had been a photgraph of the bedroom in the literature we would probably not have picked this location. It was a little awkward getting down the side of the bed, you have to bend your back. For my wife with back issues this was not the best. A stand up shower would also been better. Many thanks.
The cottage was perfect for a get away from it all break. Well equipped and very clean. The owner was very welcoming and there were thoughtful extras to make our stay very comfortable.
Walking distance to the famous Chesil beach, but only 6 miles from Weymouth and 9 miles from Dorchester.
Plenty of walks to take in the stunning views of Abbotsbury and surrounding areas along the coastal path. The Elm Tree public house is a short walk into the village, next door to the Norman church of St. Peter. The Fleet Lagoon famous for the Abbotsbury Swannery, and subtropical gardens is approximately 1 mile down a country bridleway.
