Peace & Tranquillity On The Edge Of The Picturesque Village Of Langton Herring

Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Dec-2016
Cottage, Bedroom: 1, Sleeps: 2 Also Double Bed-settee

Far from the madding crowds, set down its own private leafy driveway nestled in 8 acres of fields and woodland. The old cottage dates back to the early Victorian age and is full of charm and character. It has an open fire, oil fired central heating, and has a warm home from home feel. The cottage has a large 5' bed, and romantic eves with skylights to gaze upon the stars. A large deep bath with shower attachment is on the ground floor, with a small toilet/wash basin upstairs. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer and washing machine available.

There is a raised platform with table/bench to sit an watch the pet sheep grazing in the paddock, or have your breakfast and watch the birds and wildlife.

Peace and tranquility, situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Langton Herring, just the place to unwind.

The cottage is completely self contained with plenty of parking. Weekly rentals or short breaks in the winter, also bed and breakfast option.

Dogs are not allowed, but a very good kennels a short distance down the road caters for overnight pets.

Horse owners can bring their horses with them (price on request) and enjoy the many bridleways leading off the property.

The fresh smell of the sea, and the waves crashing on the beach (when the wind is in the right direction) add to the atmosphere of this unique little gem.

About the Owner

Hilary lives in the courtyard opposite the cottage. She has lived here on her own since her partner died 10 years ago. Alan Freeman was a famous Dorset Artist well known for his watercolour pictures of the local villages and places of interest. Hilary is more than happy to give you her local knowledge of places to explore and restaurants to visit. The property is on the famous Heritage Coastline, close to Abbotsbury Swannery and sub-tropical gardens. The area is abundant with little tea rooms offering the famous Dorset apple cake. The area is outstanding with stunning views of the bay, Portland and Weymouth Harbour. Weymouth beach boasts of one of the safest beaches for children with perfect golden sands and the old seaside town on Weymouth. There is a fast train to London Waterloo and Heathrow Airport.

I love this little cottage, it used to be our home, with many happy memories and is full of charter and charm. A home from home You will love it as much as I do. Perfect for the private intimate get away. No one knows you are here. If you wish for a perfect private (away from everyone and phone and communication) this is the perfect place for you.

Facilities

From the Owner

Situated down its own private driveway, with plenty of parking, a nice decking area to sit and enjoy a glass of wine before walking up the drive to the local pub - the Elm Tree. Excellent fresh food cooked to order. Well known for its local fish and local sourced produce. It has its own micro climate, and benefits from being in the folds of the valley where it is very sheltered. The pet sheep graze in front of the Lounge window, and the birds and wildlife are in abundance.
