About the Owner

I have rented the house out since 2001 and sought to improve the comfort to guests from that date. Many guests have returned year after year and have always been very complimentary about the work undertaken.

The purpose in renting the property out is not to make a profit but use whatever rent is received to put it back into the property so that all can enjoy it including future guests as well.

Ann & I want to help guests enjoy themselves in Brittany and will do so in any way that we can.

A perfect family holiday July-Aug 2016

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Brittany four times in total now, and this was our first time at this gite, and it was perfect for our needs.

Clean, well-looked after and great facilities. The children particularly liked the downstairs game area (as did I!) which had pool/snooker, table tennis and foosball. The kitchen was very well equipped and served our needs perfectly. The beds/mattresses were all good and comfortable. We found this gite delightful and would definitely like to return again one day.

It is situated well: within 7 or so miles of great beaches (St Cast le Guido, Pen-Guen, St Luniare, St Jacut) and in close vicinity of St Malo / Dinard /Dinan. Plancoet is only 3 miles away with local shops, HyperU and LIDL. A lovely boulangerie only a couple of miles away in Crehen too.

Even the weather was delightful with this gite! Just two mornings of rain in 2 weeks!

Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the review. It means a lot to receive such comments. I am also aware you had an issue towards the latter part of your holiday with the Sky Freview box packing up! Not ideal when GB are winning medals for fun. That has now been replaced. Most pleased you enjoyed the house and I know the bakery will be pleased to get a mention in your comments. I am aware that you booked over a year in advance for this holiday and would encourage you to do the same for any subsequent visit in the main school holidays.

excellent base, ideal for older kids

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for the use of your cottage. ideal location for exploring the area, close to towns, bakeries and beaches. The cottage games room is a godsend if the weather turns against you, or for keeping kids amused in the evenings. Everything you need for your stay.

Ideal base for exploring the Cote D'Amor

  • 5 of 5

I agree with other reviewers, the location is perfect for exploring the beautiful coastline and fascinating towns like Dinan, Dinard and St.Malo, all can be reached within 15-30 minutes. The house itself is in a quiet rural setting, but only a short drive to supermarkets (Hyper U in Plancoet) and our favourite local boulangerie at Crehen (we preferred to make use of the bikes provided). It is well equipped throughout, the games room was used daily by out two children (and their parents!), as were the bikes. Everything you need for a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable holiday in this beautiful part of France.

Peaceful holiday home, perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to Les Quatre Vents, and the first as a family - it was probably the best visit yet.

From our previous visits we knew that the house would be immaculate, extensively equipped and the perfect base to explore the Cote d'Armor. We can now add that the house is well equipped to cater for families as well as couples. Isabelle had a brilliant time playing with the various toys on offer, and the highchair and travel cot meant that we could save precious space in the car. The games room wasn't used as much as in previous visits, but we quickly devised a new type of handicap when playing table-tennis - a 11 month old under one arm!

The house is well located and a perfect base to visit the Cote d'Armor. We enjoyed the visits to St Malo and Dinard, the walks along the coast at Cap Frehel, the beaches of St Cast and St Lunaire, and the markets of Plancoet and St Jacut. The house itself is located in a very peaceful hamlet but still close enough to Tregon and Crehen to collect the daily baguettes and pain-au-chocolats.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this holiday home to anyone. It really is the home from home. It is perfect for anyone wanting a base to explore the regions coastal towns and historic architecture. Perfect for families enjoying the many sandy beaches. Perfect for anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Many thanks to Cris and Ann for another wonderful holiday!

Perfect French Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

Our third visit to Les Quatre Vents proved to be as wonderful as we have come to expect. Cris kindly let us have an extra day which let us spend the full Easter weekend in the house at the beginning of our stay. He was most helpful with the booking and all the other administrative details as always.

The house was spick and span on our arrival as it always is. We were blessed with perfect weather and enjoyed many coastal walks, markets and visits further afield to St. Brieuc and Dinan. We made good use of the games room which is a real bonus in this property, along with an excellent set of well maintained bikes.

We would once again highly recommend this property to couples and families alike.

Excellent and well located gîte

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay and felt in love with Brittany. The gîte is clean, comfortable, well equipped and located at the countryside. Dinan, Dinard, Cap Fréhel and St Malo are approx. 20-30 min. driving by car. Also several beaches are not far away. The games at the basement are super. We started a small family competition. Don't hesitate to rent this gîte. You will not be disappointed. Greet, Koen, Benjamin and Pieter-Jan from Torhout, Belgium.

Location

From the Owner

Les Quatre Vents is a property which whilst in a rural setting offers the ability to explore with ease the beautful northern Brittany coastline and different walks continue to be found with their own vantage points and superb views. Local towns include Dinan, Dinard and St Malo. I enjoy the maket at Matignon on a Wednesday where one can buy anything from vegetables to clothes and double glazing! Dinard has markets Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and are large and high quality goods are sold. Some wines cost over a £1000. We saw a good number of properties before purchasing Les Quatre Vents. We made our decision for three reasons, location - offers both peace and quiet of rural life, access to beaches within 10 minutes, and is close to the towns of Dinan, Dinard and St Malo.

Activity and Interests

Les Quatre Vents is a self catering gite offering spacious accommodation in a peaceful location within 10 minutes of the stunning Northern Brittany coast. Located just 10 minutes from the nearest beach at St Jacut sur Mer and barely 15 minutes to the beautiful sandy beaches of St Cast to name just two. A number of activities available locally include: Golf, Horse riding, Fishing and Walking. Les Quatre Vents is just 6 miles from Dinard and 9 miles from the medieval riverside town of Dinan and within 30 minutes of St Malo where there is a walled city.

There are plenty of walks along the coastal paths which include Lancieux, St Briac and St Lunaire. There is also a marina at St Cast with another pleasant walk, where you will find bars and restaurants. More details about the property can be found at http://www.lesquatrevents.net

At Dinard you will find shops, restaurants, and coastal paths. Dinan provides you with the opportunity to admire the medieval architecture, cobbled streets and a good number of restaurants either on the River Rance or in the town centre. Dinan & St Malo offer the best variety of shops in the area.

Placed in an ideal position, the gite offers something for all, being able to access local amenities either by bike or car. There are local weekly markets in villages and towns nearby.

The property offers holidays for both families and couples and any who are looking for a golf break. For golf trips we are more than pleased to book ferry crossings, tee times on a selection of top quality golf courses local to our property.

As the garden is south facing you can enjoy spectacular sunsets to the rear in the long summer evenings.

Facilities

From the Owner

The location offers views of the countryside from all rooms and the ability to reach the long sandy beaches quickly. When purchasing the property it was important that when the children were young they needed a large games area. To this end the games area has a first class table tennis table, a slate snooker table, and a superior table football table. There are locally the usual shops including boulangerie, butcher, supermarkets. Of particular interest to ladies in Plancoet ('Renouard' close to Hyper U) will be the wonderful leather shop where one can purchase fine handbags, belts and shoes. You can see the employess making them! In addition nearby are stunning golf courses including Dinard the 2nd oldest in the country with some great views of the coast. within 35 minutes there is also St Malo golf club, and Val Andre which is a French Open course! Closer we have St Cast and Tremeuruc as well. We are also offering to arrange golf holidays for guests.
