Enjoy the best view in Carlsbad! Our open floor plan and generous living space is flooded with light and transitions through two sliding doors to an expansive private deck. Enjoy our beautiful lagoon views and the perfect 180 degree sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

We're 5 minutes from Carlsbad Village, where you'll find a perfect blend of hip and quaint beach town shops and dining. Or we're just 10 minutes from Legoland California and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets; 45 min to Sea World and San Diego!

*NOTE* Smoking and pets are prohibited on the property. There is wifi and late check in available with a key in a lockbox. Lockbox Code and wifi access is supplied upon booking a reservation. Check in time is typically 3 PM, and checkout by 11 AM.

Front of House
The home is at the end of a quiet neighborhood street in Olde Carlsbad. There is ample space for 2 cars tandem parked on the left side of the driveway (not blocking garage), and enter through the gate on the left. Your Carlsbad Retreat residence is above the garage.

Large Back Deck
Enjoy the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Buena Vista Lagoon from the comfort of the private deck. We have matches for you to light the fire pit (provide your own wood) and enjoy the evening under twinkling deck lights and stars. Use the BBQ on the lower deck to grill up your favorite veggies or meats.

Kitchen
The spacious kitchen is fully-stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, and kitchen appliances. Stroll through the local Carlsbad farmers market (located on State Street every Wednesday evening), and pick up a few items to cook up a delicious meal. Or stock up the pantry at any of the several nearby grocery stores.

Living Room
Sink into the comfortable couch and feel the coastal breeze coming through the huge double sliding doors and windows. The calm beach decor puts you in the mindset of an endless summer for your Carlsbad vacation.

Bedroom
Catch up on some extra ZZZ’s in the queen-size bed and queen blow up. A pack-n-play crib is available if you’re bringing a little cherub on your trip. The bedroom is massive and has closet space, hangars, and a dresser. Two additional people can sleep on an air mattress in the bedroom or in the family room.

Bathroom
Clean up after a day at the beach in the shower or oversized tub.

Enjoyable Getaway!

We spent a week in Carlsbad in a beginning of August 2019 and have a wonderful memories being there. The apartment is very specious and seperated from the main house. For a few days we didn't even know that the property owners family lived in the same house. As many reviewers pointed out, the place has a beautiful large bath tub which we enoyed after spending all day outdoors. Big bedroom was also a great plus allowing air to circulate better. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the ocean, lagoon and sunsets....just as described in VRBO. Close to freeways, stores and most important - incredible beaches, either north or south. In the last two days of our stay we met Kat and her 2 adorable children. She is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We had such a good time apparently that we even lost track of time and forgot which day to check out. We hope to come back one day.

Great experience with this property reservation. There wasn’t anything that wasn’t already provided for us. Quiet area, lots of stuff to do very close to the property. The owner was good with communication and very helpful. Happy renter here

About the host

Hosted by Kat Orme

Kat grew up in Orange County and Palm Desert, and moved to Carlsbad during her teenage years. She graduated from Carlsbad High School, which is about 2 miles away from the house. She studied Political Science at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah; studied abroad in Vienna, Austria; and spent 1.5 years in Brasilia, Brazil. Besides spending most of her time with her two adorable kids Kat enjoys surfing, filming/editing movies, and reading.

Derek is 100% a Carlsbad native. He was born and raised in the area and graduated from La Costa Canyon High School. Derek studied Accounting at BYU-Provo, completed a study abroad in Jerusalem, Israel, and lived in Andalucia, Spain for two years. Derek loves hiking and canyoneering in the outdoors, skiing, and experiencing other cultures.

Kat and Derek met in college, got married in San Diego, and spent four years working in Washington D.C. In 2016 they moved back to Carlsbad. Their three children are the greatest joy in their lives. The Orme family loves taking advantage of weekends at the beach, seeing family, and watching their children learn and grow. We enjoy getting to know our guests too!

We've seen a lot of the world and it is hard to beat Carlsbad: the perfect mix of opportunity and beach culture. Our home gives you a spacious opportunity to relax when you aren't out exploring, but still bask in the views of the Pacific and our Buena Vista Lagoon. Since we travel as guests we know the value of communication, cleanliness, and having the essentials for an enjoyable stay.
