NOTE TO DOG OWNERS
We welcome one well-behaved dog per cottage. It may be possible to accept two dogs but please contact us first so that we can co-ordinate the doggy population here with the other holiday cottage! We do ask that dogs do not go upstairs or on any of the furniture. We provide a stairgate to help with this and can supply a throw. We do also request that pets are not left alone in the holiday cottages as they can sometimes become distressed and could cause damage or disturb guests in the neighbouring cottage.
There is a special bin in the garden for doggy bags and a small paddock where they can run around. Both the garden and the paddock are securely fenced with wooden post and rail fencing with wire stock fencing along the bottom rail. We can recommend an excellent kennels nearby that runs a day creche for dogs if you are really stuck. We have used them ourselves and so are happy to recommend them.
Hi, my name is Lory and I ran a retail business in Southampton for over 25 years. When I sold the business I wanted to find a business I could run from home and rural where I could keep my horses and dogs too. I always treated my shop as a beautiful space where customers would feel welcome and I like to think that I have applied the same values to this venture too!
Lory Traies purchased this cottage in 2011
We looked all over the country for the perfect property but Crossways in Atherington was by far the best. We have always loved Devon and have found North Devon to be unspoilt with such friendly people and the most beautiful rolling countryside. Every journey is a pleasure and I don't think we will ever grow complacent of the stunning scenery.
We found Crossways and fell in love with it straight away. The views were absolutely amazing and we couldn't wait to share it with our guests. We set about completely decorating and furnishing our cottages with the best quality furniture and colour co-ordinated soft furnishings, it was great fun! Everyone who has stayed with us since we opened in 2012 has commented on how beautifully furnished the accommodation is and how welcome we make them feel.
We all had a lovely week here. The cottage was very homely and a beautiful place to stay in and had everything we needed. Lory and Colin are very helpful and very nice. Callum loved meeting and playing with Ella and titch. Thankyou!!
Online Booking available on our website. If you have any dates that are slightly different just give me a call and I will do my best to accommodate you.
Children and babies welcome. We can provide a high-chair, stair-gate and travel cot. (own linen required)
Dog friendly - one well behaved dog per cottage. Dogs not to be left unattended in the cottages as they may become distressed.
Exmoor Cottage was everything we hoped for and we loved the beautiful rural location with fabulous views. The cottage is delightful - cosy, comfortable and peaceful. The enclosed garden and additional enclosed paddock were perfect for our dog who was made to feel as welcome as we were. We are already looking to see when we can stay there again. Thanks Lory and Colin and we really appreciated the essentials left for us and the cake was delicious. We hope to see you again soon.
Very nice property. The owners are welcoming and relaxed in their approach. This was the most comfortable I have felt in a holiday home. Nice location with plenty of dog friendly beaches off season. Would definitely recommend and book again if we are down that way again.
Ideally situated in between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, with free-roaming ponies and other wildlife. Breathtaking views of the rolling North Devon landscape from the guest's garden. We are quietly situated in a rural setting but without any of the typical narrow Devon lanes. A 10 minute drive to Dartington Crystal and RHS gardens Rosemoor in Great Torrington. A 20 minute drive to Barnstaple and many fantastic sandy beaches so popular with surfers and swimmers. Local tourist attractions include The Milky Way, The Big Sheep, Exmoor Zoo and many, many more!
