Delightful well equipped, 3 bedroom cottage, lovely private garden, hill views

If you are looking for a place to unwind this cottage has the perfect answer! This beautifully furnished three-bedroom bungalow is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in its own grounds in Church Knowle and with all modern facilities. Church Knowle nestles at the foot of Knowle Hill and is a delightful small 13c village built in Purbeck stone with thatched cottages and lying within a conservation area surrounded by beautiful countryside, on the Isle of Purbeck just a mile from historic Corfe Castle and 2.5 miles from the coast. The village has a wonderful pub, which serves excellent food, an historic 13c church and a newly equipped children’s play park.

It is well situated for numerous walks in the Purbeck Hills and lots of interesting places to visit including, Durlston Country Park, Blue Pool, Fossil Museum, The Tank Museum, the ancient Saxon walled city of Wareham and the steam train to Swanage - to name but a few.

Entrance to the bungalow is through the south-facing conservatory with relaxing chairs and on into a sitting area with a sofa, comfortable chairs and wood burning stove, which leads into a dining area with table and chairs. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, oven, gas hob and dishwasher. When standing at the sink you will enjoy a most beautiful view looking towards the Purbeck Hills with Kingston Church and Swyre Head in the distance. There is an inner hall with a place to hang coats and a door to the garden with the three bedrooms leading off this hall. One bedroom has twin (3') beds and views to the garden; the second has a double (5’) bed and an en-suite shower room; the third bedroom has twin (3') beds and French windows looking south, with a view over the hills and with steps leading down to its own patio area. The bathroom has a bath, separate shower, loo and basin. Apart from the kitchen and bathrooms there are fitted carpets throughout.

As you approach the property a pair of double gates open onto a gravel drive which widens to form a turning area and parking for several cars and a boat for those who like sailing. The rear garden is completely private surrounded by trees and a beech hedge with a good size patio for table and chairs.

Lovely cottage,peaceful location, great pub nearby

We had a lovely stay at Stansfield. The cottage was very well appointed, clean and decor attractive. 3 comfortable bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite). Kitchen well organised and equipped. Secluded back garden. Very peaceful and within easy reach of places of interest. The pub next door does excellent food - may need to book if you go on a Friday or Saturday. Corfe Castle a walk away either by road or cross country - National Trust property and lovely village. We really enjoyed our week there and would definitely recommend.

Perfect location and very comfortable cottage

The cottage has everything needed for a perfect break in Dorset. Well fitted out and tastefully furnished, there is also a lovely private garden to relax in if the weather permits. The location is perfect for exploring the area and coast with a very good pub/restaurant next door. We can't recommend this property highly enough.

Perfect for a family break

Had a wonderful stay, with glorious weather and the cottage was perfect for three generations, including a young toddler. Really appreciated the welcome pack (and communication with the owner before and during the week), the large living room (good log-burner for any chilly evenings), and the spacious rooms. Also surprised by the open views, in spite of not obviously being elevated. Lovely to be able to wander down to the Animal Rescue centre, and very good walks nearby. Easy drive to Wareham or Swanage, and beaches and coves to the south and East also very accessible. We're determined to return!

A lovely home from home cottage

We stayed at this lovely cottage during half term with 3 different generations and it was perfect. 3 lovely double bedrooms, with pretty decor and all the facilities required. There was a lovely welcome hamper too. Pub within a stones throw that served great food and plenty to do in the local area. The owner was really helpful and has thought of everything to make this a lovely Dorset retreat. Highly recommended

A fantastic cottage with all home comforts in a beautiful tranquil location. Lots of thought put into the décor and furnishings. Lovely garden and conservatory. Great walks from the doorstep. I have just returned from my third visit to Stansfield and will certainly be going back.

My husband and I bought this property in 2010. We had been holidaying in Dorset for several years and particularly liked the Purbeck area. We came upon the property when we were visiting the New Inn in Church Knowle one week-end. We have been delighted with our purchase and have gradually updated the property in the 6 years we have owned it.

This area in the south-east corner of Dorset is known as the Isle of Purbeck and hails its name from being largely surrounded by sea. It has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty where the Purbeck Hills offer numerous delightful walks with stunning scenery. The coastline from Swanage to Lulworth is part of the Jurassic Coast, a world heritage site where the Dorset coastal path can be accessed for the most amazing scenic rambles. Church Knowle nestles at the foot of Knowle Ridge which has views reaching as far as POOLE HARBOUR AND THE ISLE OF WIGHT.

There is something of interest for both young and old. You may prefer to visit Studland for sandy beaches and horse riding or look for fossils at Kimmeridge and then stay around in the evening to watch the beautiful sunset.

You can play a 27 round of golf on The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club with spectacular views, visit Thomas Hardy’s birthplace, Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage – Clouds Hill, take the children to Monkey World, visit the deserted village at Tyneham and see the school room as it was set out in 1940 and then walk down to the beach at beautiful Warborough Bay. Do not miss the beauty of Arne with its unusual and special landscape of open heathland and old oak woodland overlooking Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour in the distance. Discover birds and wildlife on the RSPB guided walks. Take a walk from Swanage to Durlston Country park where you will find superb geology and fascinating wildlife.

The minimum rental period is 4 days or 3 days (over the weekend, Friday to Sunday) - the price for mid-week bookings is the same as that indicated for weekend bookings. During busy times (Christmas / New Year, Easter and the Summer Holidays) a minimum period of one week's rental applies. For bookings of one week or more, the changeover day is Friday. All rental rates are fully inclusive of taxes.

A 50% deposit secures the dates for the holiday and the balance is paid 4 weeks prior to the holiday

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
